I'm on Skype constantly, and I'm wondering if there are any RP groups for FFXIV on Skype allowing new members and such. Or if there are any for the current Linkshells and FCs accepting newbies! (Or even oldies, however old you are, crusty.)

Maybe this could also turn into a topic to exchange Skypes for Skype RP in case the game breaks, or the idea is more appealing! Whatever catches your fancy. But until I can renew my sub and squander around by reading lore and slowly developing my wikis/characters (By walkthroughs and such), I still want to come back to the forums/community and check if there's a leeway for finding groups out of the game.

Hello there! Harbingers of Dawn is a good-aligned, med-heavy RP FC dedicated to protecting and aiding the citizens of Eorzea. You're welcome to check us out! You can learn more about us here and apply on our website if you're interested. We do have an FC Skype chat that's fairly active.

I know Rendezvous of Stars has a Skype chat for their FC and LS, as well. And lastly, I dunno how active it is, but there's a Balmung server Skype chat. I don't know if there are any big RP chatrooms or anything on Skype, but there are plenty of RPers there/here who won't mind doing Skype RP.
