Hi there.
I'm not sure what to say but here I go. I was talked into joining FFXIV last October by my entire family (who have been playing for well over a year.) I've been playing without doing any RP, but recently I've followed more fellow players on Tumblr and I've really enjoyed everything they were doing with their characters. I made my first real RP character and now find myself here. I'm an avid gamer, but I'm relatively new to the role playing thing so any advice would be more than welcome.Â
I have a blog that is not at all ffxiv specific and I've filled out a Wiki page for Winni.

I think that's everything so... I'm excited to play with you all!

Looking at your wiki page, it's nice to see someone more into crafting that combat! (In truth, my first character was an alchemist. RIP)

If there's anything I can do to help on lore, RP convention, leveling crafts OOC, let me know! I'll see if I can point a person or two your way as well. Smile

Thank you so much! I love learning about lore so yes please! And yeah ^_^ Every MMO I've ever played, I've always loved the crafting the most. Except Star Wars Galaxies. That one I liked the dancing the best. LoLÂ

Welcome.. so leaving the whole game play aside.. RPzzz!

It is you assuming the role of a character that you have defined in some way, with story, characteristics etc... You dictate the actions and responses of your character in response to others and events. To maintain some level of consistency and fairness there are some general guidelines around keeping IC (in character) and OOC (out of character) separate, and letting others decided what their characters do or do not do.

That was a very short version and there is an excellentÂ [Role Play Handbook]Â that will be a good reference for you as you progress.

My advice, find a nice FC that supports new RPers. They will offer to ease you into it and answer the many questions you may have. They will also help with avoiding any bad habits. And please, ask.

Overall though, just let go and have fun.
