The European division of SE has recently twittered a confirmed PC release date for FFXIV. It states the PC version will be released on September 30, 2010.

The PS3 version of the game will not be released until March 2011, with pricing to be announced at a later date.
The PC Collector'Â€Â™s Edition includes a behind-the-scenes DVD, a special branded security token, a FFXIV branded tumbler, map, a travel journal including concept art, the Onion Helm in-game item, a 30-day free trial period for the game and a pass that allows a guest to play for free for a limited time.
The monthly subscription fee will be Â£8.99 (Â‚Â¬12.99) with additional characters available for Â£2.10 (Â‚Â¬3.00) a month. A maximum of eight characters can be registered on any one account.
Each account is eligible for one free retainer (a non-playable character that maintains item sales and storage when users are logged out) with each additional retainer costing Â£0.70 (Ã¢Â¬1.00).

A beta version of the PC game will go live some time in early July. It will become available to pre-order with key retailers at some point today. Those who pre-order will receive another in-game freebie Ã¢Â€Â“ a pair of Garlond Goggles that increases the speed at which characters progress.
Those who register their FFXIII Campaign Codes will receive the Asuran Armguards DLC, an extra that improves the effectiveness of tools.

The specs for the PC version are as follows: Windows XP/Vista/7, Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz or AMD Athlon X2 2GHz, 2GB of RAM, 15GB HDD space, NVIDIA GeForce 9600 512MB or ATI Radeon HD 2900 512MB and DirectX 9.

I don't think its true. Its practically July and Beta hasn't even started yet. That and...
March 22 2011! Really?! Thats practically a year away.

I would be excited about this if it weren't for the PS3 delay part. My PC simply can't handle the game based on my benchmark score. And I cannot afford a new graphics card. Granted, my b-day will be right before then so maybe I can squeeze some money out to get it updated. Otherwise, I'll be playing on a super laggy machine >.>;;

Wow. This is gonna hit people like a ton of bricks. Don't think anyone was prepared for it so soon.

Also, those specs actually aren't that bad. That's the exact graphics card I have I think >.>;

I'm playing on PC but still. This pisses me off. They have said repeatedly it was going to be a simultaneous release for PC and PS3, and now this? Very disappointing.

OK after rethinking the validity of this site where the release date originated http://www.mcvuk.com/. I checked gamespress.com. Unless they just haven't uploaded it yet, there haven't been any new press releases since E3 for FFXIV. So while this may be accurate (and it would be kind of weird to release something with this much detail if it wasn't), probably best to take it with a grain of salt.

Really disappointed about the amount of characters we get.. and the fact we have to pay more monthly for each one at that, seems more than a little bit.. money grabby seeing as the monthly fee is already slightly higher than other MMOs out there, MMOs that include lots of character slots for free.
