I'm finally playing ARR more, and I made a character on Balmung that I enjoy more than the one I first made on Gilgamesh, so I'm staying on Balmung. I've poked around linkshells I've found in the linkshell hall, but I'm struggling to find a place. I just wanted to make this post to try to find the late-night gamers who are more able to be around late at night (for me, I get online around midnight EST and can't be on earlier).

I made a Miqo'te, a conjurer, but I have nothing figured out for RP yet. I might need some help getting ideas going. I'm enjoying the game, but so far it's still lonely. I know a lot of people are active earlier in the evening, so I can't find the players who are more active much later.

I did previously make a thread for something like this, but it was when I made a character on Gilgamesh, so I'm just making a new thread.

Also, are linkshells the same as guilds in ARR, because I'm still absolutely clueless about everything.

I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to play time. I tend to not be around before 1am - 2am EST most days. So feel free to add me if you need someone chat with to help kill time. I've yet to find a FC with similar hours myself sadly.

As far as LS/FC. FC is like guilds in other MMOs while LS are like personal chat rooms.

Well, The Grindstone has alot of players in the evening, granted, we're combat oriented we have a little bit for everyone spectators, merchants etc. Especially healers who keep the rest of us ruffians from getting banged up too badly. The LS has upwards of 80 people in it and on off nights there can be 20 people or so there.

Thank you for the quick replies! I should probably narrow down to specifics of what I like to get a good match, though in seeking other active late-night players, I won't be super picky.

I love adventure, so I always make my characters interested in focusing on adventure. Specifically I am playing a character focused on healing (which is incredibly rare for me), and this goes equally IC and OOC. I haven't decided the whys, as I'm still getting to learning the lore, but I was leaning towards something as simple as scholar of the Conjurer's Guild seeking to expand her efforts beyond her studies and become something like a traveling healer.

Just bouncing ideas around. I generally do concepts like this to be able to sort of actively keep moving in RP, because I get bored just sticking to only a few places.

The Grindstone sounds like a fun option because N'arysha would definitely be happy to put her healing abilities to use in such a setting.

I wouldn't mind also finding a free company, I suppose, but do people just generally rely more on linkshells?

They're both good! Linkshells are basically extra chat channels on top of the normal say/shout/party, so they're fun to talk to groups of people (Up to 128 in one LS, and you can have 8 LS'). FCs are a bit more organized, with ranks, a company vault/bank, and you can even put the company's emblem onto your gear if said company is high enough rank. I'm in the Grindstone FC and LS, though the FC is on the small side at the moment due to being a bit more stringent than the LS and both of them being IC rather than OOC.

I'm in the West Coast, so I miiiiight actually be a little TOO late for you (if that is possible) since I seem to only be able to get on around midnight or past that (if I even am able to get on >.<).

I am part of The Night Shift LS (I think that is what they are called) but I do believe they themselves are at times quiet. Though, I've been turning into a bit of an LS Whore so I'm never really THAT bored xD As for FC, no idea since I am not part of one.

As far as characters goes, my main character tends to travel quite a bit in a never ending quest to further his skills, so I don't think finding a reason to tag along for adventures would be hard if you're interested. I'm always up to meeting new people that actually play at those hours, can get boring playing alone for the most part.

To The Grindstone recruiters; The LS/FC sounds rather interesting, to not derail this, I'll get in touch with you guys in game.

I play late sometimes myself. (Up until 6AM EST max sometimes.) I'll keep an eye out for you and if I spot you and you seem to be looking for RP I'll be more than happy to ICly walk up to you and start something. Smile

I'll be joining the Balmung kids soon once server transfers hit. Â I know me and a few of my guildies from another game are looking for some communities to be a part of. Â We're definitely Night Owls though >< so here's to hoping we run into a few of you Â =)
