I'm trying to take screenshots but i keep getting "Screenshot failed" all the time, i'm on the PC version of the game I used to be able to, but now i cannot

If you're running Windows 8 and have the game saved under program files, screenshots won't work because the directory-- to make a long story short, won't let it.
That's from personal experience with another game I had issues with, and it's because of that I saved XIV in My Documents.

If that doesn't nail it, I'm not sure.

so, what should I do to fix it? It is Windows 8, do i move the ffxiv folder in game files? or the one from program folders?

Yeah, I'd move it out of Program Files and throw it in a general Documents or Games folder, it should do the trick.

(Also, just in case, there are certain cutscenes you can'tÂ take screens for, so I've heard.)

The current version of Dropbox will allow you to take native-resolution lossless PNG screenshots of virtually anything, including cutscenes and character select screen. You also don't get a watermark.
