Today I'm here to talk to you. Yes, you who stay in the back of the room hugging the walls at the ball, watching those who dance ; you who sit on alone on a chair trying to follow what is happening in the tavern ; you who didn't have the opportunity to meet other people and are too shy to even say "hello" while everybody is chattering away around you.
I'm here to tell you that I am like you, like you I'm really shy during the big gathering events and because of this I don't really manage to fit in and to have some fun. Maybe like you as well, I have a hard time with the chat scrolling so fast that even if I can find a partner to chat with, it's hard to not miss one of their sentences.
So why am I posting this topic here? It's because I found out that I wasn't the only one in this situation (!!!) and after discussing a long time with my RP partner Nebula Stardancer, we might have found the reason why I'm not at ease and maybe the beginning of a solution : We will do small themed events whose goal will be to meet new people.
You may say "Don't this already exist ? Can't you just call for some people to meet ?", maybe we could do that, but the idea of doing small events is challenging and fun and if it can help other people who have the same problem, I seriously think it can be really nice.
So, this is what will happen : Every now and then, the Luna Chamber's Cellarage area will be transformed to welcome between 6 and 12 people for a small event with a theme (never more). The goal will always be to meet people in a way you cannot really meet them in the middle of the crowd.
To do so, we will announce the events here at least 1 week before it occurs and we will do some kind of invitation system :
- Some invitations will be given on the board. To have one, you only will have to say that you want to participate on the event, first come, first served. We'll always have a waiting list and will pm the people on the list if someone cannot come.
- One invitation will always be reserved to one person who REAAAAAALLY wanna come for a reason or another, for that, the person will have to pm me on the board or in game and explaining to me why it's so important for his character to be there.
- A few invitations will be given in the Open RP Linkshell the hour before the event, because this is why that Linkshell exist : Helping people to meet some new roleplayers and extending their relationships (for more informations about Open RP LS, simple check the topic about it > HERE < ).
To be fair and not having always the same people coming, we'll take care to give priority to people who never came to one of those events.
As we want NA & EU to be able to participate to those event, we will do most of those the saturday at around 4PM EDT / 10PM CEST. They will last between 1h30 and 3h (you can of course continue roleplaying after with the new friends you just met !).
The theme will always be different : Fortune telling, medical help, preparing enchantments, speed meeting, private concerts, courses on gathering / crafting, bookworm reunions etc. you probably have thousands ideas popping in your mind, that's nice, don't hesitate to share
.
We will also ask some people to come help for those events as taking the speaker role, the bard singing, the story teller, the teacher, the doctor, etc. So if your character has a special talent we also want to enable you to shine because it's how it should be !
To conclude : We want to help people to be in a calm and protected place to meet the others and we want to help roleplayers to show their talents. I hope the idea will please you as much as it pleases us and that we'll have fun all together .
