But 'hounds' sounds so cliche. I'd like to spice it up with some creature a little more interesting.

Being new to FF14, I'm not sure what would fill the role of 'hounds' to hunt down intruders. They would have to be something that can be tamed, yet vicious when ordered to attack. They would have to be either native to Eorzea, or something that could reasonably be imported by a rich noble.

II. RP Style 
  • Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy):
  • Medium to Light, prefer medium and in depth.  More a "slice of life" RPer than "huge overarching major plots".  Ras, after all, is not a "hero" per se.  He'd more likely be a merchant.  I am by nature a "heavy" RPer, but time wise?  More realistic to say Medium with times that are heavier.

    Style wise I tend towards para posting, though I try to adjust to what people around me are doing.  I've been doing a lot of RP in other formats of late, that have gotten me "used" to doing multi para posts, which can be a challenge to toss out quickly in FFXIV!  

  • Views on RP combat and injuries:
  • Perfectly willing to take injuries, recovery time varies.  Magic and magical healing are a thing after all, but at the same time, injuries should mean something.  I often Rp that as "the major injury is healed, but there are lingering effects like exhaustion, weakness, etc".

    Combat wise, I tend to prefer free form, but if it becomes apparent that someone is..less than equal in such writing, I will often default to dice or something else in further encounters.

    Death, I rarely do, but it has been known to happen, especially if I am retiring a character.

  • Views on IC romance:
  • One of my personal favorites.  A well written romance can be amazing RP, but it is also a bit rare to find.  I keep a very fine line between IC and OOC there, and over the years have found some people do not, so am a bit picky on such things.  As far as the more mature elements of such RP, again, quite fine with them, but they are there to be a part of, or a spice to the story, NOT the whole purpose of the story...  OOC and IC are VERY fine lines here and hints of crossover are verboten!  I've made excellent friends on OOC levels, whom my characters have had as lovers or been married to, but there is a line it does not go past.  My character is not me, after all!

  • Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc):
  • Also quite fun!  If by some odd chance someone was to want to RP one of his sisters, and they seemed a good match personality wise for RP?  Sure!  And friends, rivals, etc?  The social connections are what RP is all about, and you can't have that without having IC connections!

  • Views on lore:
  • I am still learning much of the lore, but try to keep close to it.  I am not a strict stickler for it, by any means, but if someone says they are a half moogle?  We're probably not going to click in RP styles.  

  • Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc):
  • If I have my RP tag on, /say is IC.  Otherwise, I am generally OOC questing and such, though if I am at home, or doing things with the Company, may well be IC!   I try to keep OOC into brackets though, or tells.  Linkshells, if they are meant to be IC, are an excellent resource if used sparingly.  Tells can serve a similar function, again, used sparingly.

MMORPG background:
Actally, FFXIV is my first MMO! I've been a part of game communities with MMO elements (such as Ark, Destiny, Souls seriers, etc.) for years now, but this beauty was my first full fletched MMORPG. I'm still learning the ropes here but I'm starting to get hang of it little by little. But oh boe there's so much to do, it's kind of over whelming haha

RP experience:
Unlike MMOs, I've a long history with roleplaying, mostly with forum based ones Big Grin Been at it over 10 years now. Wow, time flies when you have fun, eh?

Character ideas/info:
Currently I'm planing to play my Au Ra girl (Raen) as a starting merchant/crafter with a prickly attitude and Healer background.
Her background story isn't yet fully developed (I'd love to get more ideas from you guys!), but I already know she'll be a functional alcoholic of sort haha.

What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? (e.g. Light, medium, or heavy):
I'll probably stay on light/medium end of the spectrum mostly because of the language barrier. English isn't my first language and while I can keep up with fluent conversation rather easily, I found walls of text kind of scary haha

Anything from real life you'€™re comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc.)
I'm an university student from Finland. So if my log in times are all messed up that's probably because of super weird timezone Laugh I can also lick my own nose, makes a neat party trick 8)

The Rosewood Coterie is a character drive, story based FC. This means that most of our RP will center around interactions between the characters as they react to the situations around them. We plan on putting the cast through different story arcs, forming a plot that links our events and offhand RP together. Our events are centered around a simple tabletop system that we'll be developing along the way, meaning every mission or delivery comes with the risk of failure, and an extra element of surprise. These events can vary from a few simple combat challenges, to stealthier sneaking trial, and more. If you're a fan of tabletop gaming, consider giving us a look!

As our numbers increase, we would also love to run some of the PvE content the game has to offer. This would include map nights, a casual static, and anything else you might recommend!

As a brand new FC, we'd love to bring on members that are interested in helping form our company's identity.   DOB: 16th Sun of the 4th Astrial Moon (7/16)  Profession: Miko. 
 
At long last smallyoung Au Ra was born under the Ruby Sea, born to a young couple who've always feared the world above. While individual's celebrated under the water, her existence to the world was yet to be seen or known. Bellow the tides a celebration was held, however, from above, the tides just slowly and gently caressed the shores of Kugane and the East Othard coastline. It was in this place that she would mark her journey, and that her destiny would take place that no other has seen. 
 
Appearance:
Ayameis quite small for her age, she's just at 5'0". Being so small, and being a “Runt” Of Au Ra, she learned to be quite agile and fast. Ayame has fine pink hair, most of them continue to say that her hair resembles the blossoms off the trees around spring time. She has ocean green eyes, while under water they help camouflage her, however, above water it is one of her most outstanding features. She has coral white horns and tail, along with scales that are placed on her body, although they appear to have a scale like appearance, they still have a silk like texture to them. Her tail is long and slender with a fork in the bottom.

Personality:
Ayameis quite quiet and to herself a majority of the time. She is skeptical around other races other than Raen Au Ra. However, despite her skepticism, bread by her parents, she has a longing to explore the world and wanting to learn as much as she possibly can.
Herlikes include food, water, exploring, and animals. Her dislikes include mean individual’s, lazy individuals, but all around she tries to find the best in all situations. She likes to compare herself to a flower in the wind- (although born underwater, she has a fascination with nature above & bellow the sea).   
Job:
Miko
Although she is bornunder the sea, the small Raen always had a special ability as to see and predict with the night sky. That being said, she had learned to manipulate the stars and read them. Over some time, the temple had recognized her abilities where they took her under their wing and trained her, educated her, and cultured her.

As a Miko (Asian Priestess) she performs cleansings to the temple, she entertains those who come, she is to wear a traditional garb, along with using her abilities to raise money for temple upkeeps.  

Living and being a Miko, all her necessities are provided by the temple, and the individual’s there are very caring and deer. She lives a peaceful sanctioned life that many wishes to have. Being a part of the temple, also means she is just bellow the Ruby Princess. She takes the title with great pride and honor, especially for her family. 
About Myself:

Rp Load: I do medium to heavy, I often like to RP as I play the game, I believe that's the best way to get most experience. (I work full time as a nurse, I RP on discord when I am unavailable in game!) 
Combat RP: I LOVE THIS! Totally get into the game! Smile But I also like the injuries to be somewhat realistic, if you say your character has a broken leg...then expect that thing to be broken until 6-8 weeks have passed in game! (or if you ffw through it ahaha) 
Linkshell : Not yet, but hoping to create once I get a good amount of friends who like to RP Smile

I started with this really old MUD back in 2007, and then moved onwards from there. Played Runescape and Everquest, Tried WoW and FLYFF but stuck to Mabinogi for a few years until the community died. Once a friend showed me FFXIV, I've been hooked on it ever since

RP experience:
I started with tabletop D&D first edition and I've been roleplaying ever since for over 11 years now.

Character ideas/info:
I actually have a full character from my previous server!
If you'd like information on him, I'd be more than happy to toss it up but I feel I'd drown you all with a block of text so I don't want to do that to the lot of you.

In a nutshell:
- He's a Plainsfolk Lala with the heart of a Roe.
- Is a Culinarian and Bard.

How did you learn about the coalition?
While looking up RP communities on Google actually.

What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? (e.g. Light, medium, or heavy):
Honestly I'm fine with any, but I'm more of a laidback roleplayer these days. Whatever is comfortable to those around me I can adapt to easily. ^^ But I've found that huge blocks of texts just aren't my cup of tea anymore. A paragraph or two will suffice but anything more is just draining to me.

Anything from real life you'€™re comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc.)

What is Tsagaan Sar?

One of the most important holidays for Mongolia, Tsagaan Sar is a holiday that celebrates the end of winter and serves to welcome a flourishing new year. It is the Year of the Dog this year. It is actually celebrated on the 16th February, but we’ll be hosting on the 24th for organizational reasons.

Families gather to renew and solidify ties, particularly between young and old, and to repay debts and resolve disagreements. People dress in traditional clothes, tell stories that transmit traditional knowledge, consume traditional dishes, play games, and practice customs that reinforce Mongolian identity, solidarity, and continuity.

We wanted to bring this tradition to the world of Xaela, bringing together tribes from all over the Azim Steppe to put aside grievances and celebrate peace whilst welcoming the New Lunar Year.

What will the event feature?

First and foremost, it will mainly act as a celebratory gathering where Xaela and non-Xaela who wish to come to Reunion to mingle and wish each other a Happy New Year. We expect people to dress up in their best formal/tribal attire, and there will be plenty of food and drink to keep everyone happy. Plenty of opportunities to meet new people and meet up with acquaintances, a guaranteed good time!

It’s a common tradition to eat a LOT of Buuz dumplings at Tsagaan Sar, so we will be hosting a Buuz Eating Competition some point during the event! Participate to fill your belly and potentially win a portrait from Hixxi at hixxiart.tumblr.com, examples of her work here and here!

Any things we should know before coming along?
  • Xaela and non-Xaela alike are welcome! If your character can visit the Azim Steppes, they are most certainly welcome to come along and celebrate with us.
  • Please dress somewhat formally. If you are a Xaela, we encourage you to go wild with your fabulous tribal flair!
  • No hostility or fighting between tribes will be tolerated, as per rules of Reunion.
  • The event will be hosted by Ajir Qalli and his friends within Reunion and is not tied particularly to any tribe. Just bringing family and friends together in a peaceful setting!

Her impatience and impulsiveness will betray her intelligence, but she will make for a fine adventuring partner, business associate or whatever have you. Well, she'll try her best, anyway.

The Player:
I'm EU, in the ol' UK, but I'm frequently online at later times so that's never been too much of an issue in interacting with NA folk, as such I'm happy to hear from parties on both sides of the water. Though, people to the far, far East might have trouble getting hold of me. I've Been Roleplaying on MMOs for nearly a decade now, including WoW, GW2, FFXIV and BDO, lots of characters, lots of good times!
