Greetings! - ElysiaAlptraum - 12-26-2015

Hello everyone!

Recent transplant to Balmung here. Brand new to the game, not new to RP, and excited for the potential prospects for really fun and engaging storytelling.

Looking forward to crossing paths in-game!

Welcome.

I suppose the first thing I would say is check out the [RP Linkskell & Free Company Lists for Balmung] for things that suit you. A Linkshell is like an in game chat channel and you can have 8, and a Free Company is like a Guild.

Also don't rush, there is a lot of game to play. Compared to other games I have played this one tends to suit one character learning all the classes rather than running many alts. Though I know many people who have many alts still Smile

Hello there, welcome to Balmung! Big Grin

Thanks for the heads up! Indeed I'm slowly learning that expanding on one character seems to be the most comfortable way to progress, which is different, but definitely welcomed. And thanks for the tips on Linkshells/FC, I'll have to take a look. Smile

My starting tips are to
  • Follow the main quest story, this unlocks Grand Company, travel, mounts, companion and other classes
  • Do your class quest
  • Don't worry about completing all the side quests, you will out level these and you can pick them up when you start other classes.
  • Having other classes lets you pick "Additional" cross class skills
  • Gathering and Crafting are other classes in the game and just as complex as learning a combat class
There is oodles and oodles more that could be said.. best thing is join a FC or LS so you have advice on tap. Smile

This is all super helpful. I'll give it my best whirl. Thank you immensely!

Welcome to Balmung!

For the most part, people are very friendly here and enthused about RP! Don't be afraid to ask questions, quite a few folks on the RPC love answering them.

I hope you have fun!

Thank you so much! I really am enjoying it so far (though I know there's much more to see).

I most certainly will take your advice as I start to feel everything out. It's genuinely appreciated! Smile

Welcome aboard!

Judging by the spear in your pick, I assume you're aiming to level dragoon. In that case, I can offer you this guide. While you don't have to worry about rotations at low levels, I found it much easier to have a general idea as as I was leveling. That said, if you need any help or just feel like RPing, don't hesitate to toss me a message, in-game or otherwise.

Happy gaming/RPing ^^

Thank you! You're most certainly right, and I appreciate you sending this along! This looks extremely helpful! I may definitely take you up on it, help or roleplay-wise. Smile

Thanks again!

Thank you! I wouldn't be much too surprised if you have. I feel like the past few days have had me all over in-game. I'll keep an eye out in case we might cross paths again!

Indeed I shall do my best to stop and say hello.
