That makes it tricky. Are you a part of the Free Brigade? That's the standing branch of adventurers who are welcomed under the Flames' banner. You'd be a part of them if you aren't an Ul'dah native and are a part of the rise of the adventuring population. If not, you might be a more "proper" member of the Immortal Flames. You'd serve under Raubahn ultimately and be a part of the nation's standing army. What makes this complicated is that, barring some very specific circumstances, it wouldn't make much sense for an Immortal Flame to do that job as well as becoming a Paladin. Were you looking to be "promoted" so to speak? I know Erik RPs as a sort of go-between for the Flames and 'Sworn, but to my knowledge he identifies as a Flame first. If that's the path you're taking, you'd be mostly associating with Jenlyns and not really anyone else, as he's the point of contact for new recruits. Free Paladins are on good terms with the 'Sworn, mostly, but when it comes to matters of investigation and the like, we're separate entities.crud what am i going to do i just did that quest just to unlock PLD job. That's up to you! Do you want to devote yourself to protecting and securing the Sultana? Do you want to just remain a Flame? Do you want to cast those both off and play detective? No one here is going to be able to make that decision for you. RE: The Sultansworn RP Guide - Cynel1 - 01-26-2015 then i ditch the free PLD but how am a going to justfy me becoming a PLD oh for RPs sake i signend on the flames. RE: The Sultansworn RP Guide - Warren Castille - 01-26-2015 Again, "PLD" has two meanings. It's also worth noting that not everyone who fights with a sword and shield HAS to be a Sultansworn or a Free Paladin. It's a common choice of weapon, so don't feel like you have to do anything with the job in-character. There's nothing wrong with being an Immortal Flame! RE: The Sultansworn RP Guide - Cynel1 - 01-26-2015 in that case ill stick to GLD untill i RPed with you guys on a mission that gets me into the swarm i just dont want to say im a swarm i want to earn it. From a lore perspective I think it's safe to say we do not know. We know they have recruiters and that newer members are called Squires. What the RP community has embraced in the past was some in-character tests or Trials. They are completely optional, and at the discretion of all those involved. I posted more thoughts on this back here on page 4. Well, they're KINDA questy... in the actual sense and not the RPG mechanic sense, I mean. After all, Chachan's Trial of Purpose had him going and talking to his mentors to find out why THEY became Paladins so he could understand his own reasoning for it. A search for self seems appropriately quest-like. But yeah, I think it's mainly for RP purposes and character interaction... not so much "Talk to this person, talk to that person, done." Unless you are seeking to skip over it because you want to play the 'Sworn more than the getting there part. Which in and of itself is more personal preference. I understand the intention here, but it's important to remember that everyone involved in the RP community is doing so of their own accord. Most of us are working/in school/both and while the Trial thing is admittedly kind of neat, it also takes time, energy and willpower. These things are at a premium, so yes, waiting around for others to draw you into the RP with a story centered on you joining the RP is a lot to ask. I don't mean for this to be discouraging at all, but we are not able to cater ourselves to your storyline.
