A whole new expansion of content to see and take in, and then patches that added more interesting things like Alexander. Since HW dropped, I think the only real FC event we've had that I can recall off the top of my head is a beach party picnic that Jancis ran last weekend. Other than that, things have been rather quiet.

It looks like one is building to start up soon, though, so there's that. I've also heard that other FCs have a regular weekly RP event or something along those lines too. That could be the situation - people are finally getting to a comfortable position PvE-wise, and FCs are looking to re-establish their plots and solidarity.

Then again... with peoples' desires to cap their Esos, possibly grind their red scrips for better crafting/gathering gear, hunt for actual/glamour gear out of dungeons/raids, and possibly even go after the PvP gear... there's plenty of things that can take up people's time even before considering RP, FC or non.

Hopefully, though, things will continue to settle down as time goes on.

It does feel like RP is still recovering. I know Aeon has been going through the same thing, though RP's been picking up a little bit and we are starting to have RP events again.
I'm not surprised it's taken a while for RP to recover, considering that this has happened eith every expansion I got to participate in with WoW.

I can really say that if the question is in regards to non-FC friends, I don't favor my FC over non-FC friends. However, I may RP with certain people more during a specific time period due to schedules meshing up more or the current storyline of RP encouraging it.
I know for me if I haven't talked to someone in a while, I get shy and awkward, and it gets harder to start something up again because I'm a derp.

^ This. So much this. ;; I've been back in the game a quite a while now, but outside of speaking with my FC I'm just too busy panicking and flailing to make contact with anyone. Lots of silly antisocial thoughts I won't elaborate on here because I don't need to, but you probably get the idea.
I have a lot of people on my friendslist that I feel like I want to speak to - Old TTG members, and such! But...Nope. Can't bring myself to do it, for this exact reason.

Perhaps people are still a little swept up in the "ooh shiny new expansion content" feeling and RP has fallen down the list of priorities? I know in my case it's more a matter of "I'm a wuss and the only difficulty here is me", but I've noticed a lot less RP being called out in the linkshell side of things, too.

I seldom rp with my fc. I have rpd with people and brought them into the fc but that's it.

Funny enough this is actually the kind of situation I'm in. Martiallais has, admittedly, become more of my main but he's actually not an IC part of the FC I'm in. Literally all the RP I do with him comes from friends and people outside the FC (with the exception of one or two people). So while there was definitely something of a brief lull in RP, I can see it coming back and it's definitely picking up. I can honestly say there are still people I'd like to RP with eventually but the timing just hasn't fallen into place yet.

With Aedan and Zarek however, it's been much slower meeting and making new contacts but again, definitely starting to happen. Thankfully I have the FC and friends to lean on there.

Most of the people in my FC are halfway across the world. I can't actually RP with them more than I would with others. I RP with all sorts of people, FC-less and even groups of people who come from all different sorts of FCs. I get more RP out of my FC than I do in it, to no one's fault there because I generally plot outside of it and well... only RPing with them on the weekends.

I know the feeling I have two other characters who don't have any real contacts yet for RP where as Okhi always does.

Whenever somebody feels like their FC or their "usual suspects" aren't around for RP, there's always a whole forum on here of people (like meeeee) who are new to the game/server and can probably be found loitering around somewhere looking for RP. :)

As a newcomer to Balmung, I cannot speak to the RP going on behind FC doors, but I am happy to see public RP going on both in town and in the field. My preference is for that sort of interaction, so it is nice to eavesdrop for a moment or two, just to get a snapshot that makes Eorzea seem that much more vibrant. While I would not interrupt, it definitely gives me an idea of who I might whisper later, if only for leads on potential avenues for future RP.

RE: Have most people been swept up into their FC RP? - Maril - 08-18-2015

Personally very guilty of spending a big chunk of my time rping with my FC, which to a good extend comes from the fact that my main leads it, and it takes a lot of time to get around to everyone. But I do RP with people outside of my fc, especially on my alts which are not so bogged down if you would. I do come with the downside that I am horrible at asking people for RP, and I am also not good at picking up on vague requests, so a lot of the times it's because people requested it - which I always follow up on, even if I am super busy at times. And I am always up for getting to know new people Smile

RE: Have most people been swept up into their FC RP? - Roen - 08-18-2015

Most of my RP throughout my history in FF, have been outside of the FC. Even though every FC I've been a member of have always been RP-oriented.

I look to RPC more than my FC to find people to roleplay with, honestly.

Not that the people in my FC weren't lovely. I just found more than enough outside of the FC to occupy my time.

But I am hoping to change that with my current FC... at least soon.

RE: Have most people been swept up into their FC RP? - Nebbs - 08-18-2015

I would say most of my RP has been outside of my FC.
I have now have an FC without a house, and one upside is that when we get together we have a reason other than occupying a house. Though I still want a house for us.
