RE: What started your character's journey.... - Aaron - 10-11-2016

Aaron left Lominsa because he turned 18 and said fuck it he's his own man now.

RE: What started your character's journey.... - Josikun - 10-11-2016

As a youth, Josiah heard tales of his absent father from most of the adults in the Ishguardian hamlet, about his courage and kindness. So when he was able to leave home, he did so, going to Ul'dah.

He trained for years, helping as many as he could along the way. When the Calamity hit, his mother moved to Ishgard. While he continued to do work for the sake of good will, he sent whatever Gil he could to his mother.

Now, as a free Paladin, Josiah continues to make Eorzea better however he can, keeping an ear out for his missing father.

While he no longer identifies as or allows himself to be called an adventurer, originally he was simply looking for answers about who he might be. Having no memories of who you are and a talent for various things for no apparent reason usually prompts some people to search for answers. Adventurer was the convenient glove he could fit over his endless thirst for information.

RE: What started your character's journey.... - LiadansWhisper - 10-11-2016

Her eyes were opened to things she had never before realized, and her heart was broken by her own behavior towards others. She realized that she was not living up to the purpose she had been born to fulfill, and so she set out to try to understand that that purpose was...and to remember those who taught her what it truly means to be human.

RE: What started your character's journey.... - Siha - 10-12-2016

Siha's journey started out pretty simple really, she was sent on a 'pilgrimage' by her mother and elders and even though it was generally unheard of she was a sweet, naive, and trusting girl that just wanted to please her mother for once. So she went. Really she was an oddity in her clan and her mother wasn't fond of her for various reasons, and was generally just hoping she'd go out there and die but that didn't happen!

Siha met a bunch of wonderful people that completely changed her life and helped shape her story, and her, into something I never would have forseen or imagined for her. And somewhere along the way it became about proving to herself and those she cared for that she could be useful. Simple beginnings can sometimes be the greatest because of the awesome people you can meet.

Her current motivations are pretty simple, she does everything she can to give back even a fraction of the kindness, acceptance, and love she's been gifted by those around her every day. Even if that's something simple like offering simple first aid and healing, or tracking down a rather large and nasty monster because it's eating others and making a nuisance of itself!

RE: What started your character's journey.... - Kodie - 10-12-2016

After Kodie's mother passed away, he made the decision to leave his home to become an Adventurer, it was something he had wanted to do as he loved exploring in the Shroud. So at age 14, he packed up, grabbed his father's old lance and left Hyrstmill.

He really wanted to see what life was like beyond the Shroud since he spent his childhood there. At one point he was afraid the open night skies of Thanalan was going to swallow him away.

Desmond arrived for just one reason: to find his lost wife. Though he couldn't remember her due to seriously traumatizing events there were still residual feelings in his heart that drew him to Eorzea. His subconscious worked to find her until his mind could piece together his past and regain his purpose.

RE: What started your character's journey.... - Steel Wolf - 10-12-2016

Steel had already done some minor service as a hired blade with the Maelstrom in order to fund her and her husband's armoring and smithing shop. When Carteneau took her husband, Steel tried to follow his example and become something greater.

It's a journey that has yet to find resolution, though her arm has been given to many worthy causes.

Arvid literally needed to get out of his mother's basement and stop working for her company. Had to stop being sheltered. Needed to go see the world. Twenty seven and never kissed a woman? It's time to cut the cord, mom. He dropped his arcanist studies and more or less ran away from home. Turns out, he's still a momma's boy, because he meets with his mother three times a week for dinner anyways. She's still a big part of his life but he now wanders around and occasionally tells people they shouldn't lick windows or floors. Oh right and he fell in love with a criminal.

He was a mercenary, now he's a 'housekeeper' who keeps some free company's mansion clean. Basically an odd jobs man. No clear path yet.

RE: What started your character's journey.... - Chompie - 10-12-2016

Arblis started out on her traveling for quite a few reasons that all pushed in the same direction.

- Didn't get along with the rest of the kids
- She was certain there was a better way to live, somewhere
- Stories of her father's handful of adventures
- Desperate need to prove she's the best
- Heck, let's throw a tvtropes link in here- Never Accepted In Her Hometown

No single one can really be called the one that motivated her, but put them all together and add a few more things and it's more than enough!

R'theqe was exiled from his tribe, after taking the blame for murdering a member of a rival tribe, which goes against their peace treaty. He then traveled the land, hoping to make it day buy day by pit fighting and mining, though after some unfortunate losses and events, (which caused him to "lose" and eye, he's trying to just slow down, going a friend of his can help him get back on track.

Auaura "Aurora" Aura came to Eorzea primarily out of curiosity. She seeks Knowledge and Power (the latter being used to help her with the former.) and was interested in seeing firsthand how drastic an Umbral Era could affect the landscape.

RE: What started your character's journey.... - Sylentmana - 10-17-2016

For several reasons. A strong desire to see what the rest of the world looks like. To hone her skills and talents. To try lots of new and tasty foods. Because she prefers to be alone and traveling is often the best way to be alone. Because she doesn't want to have children (hates kids), especially not with the current Nuhn (or any, really). Mostly she travels because she feels like it.

RE: What started your character's journey.... - Koen - 10-17-2016

At the moment, he's just looking to get his gear fixed up. Before that, he tends to blame Garleans for most things.

RE: What started your character's journey.... - Oliver - 10-18-2016

Oliver grew up hearing the tales of the adventurers that came to serve after the Garlean invasion, and during the moons before the Calamity. For him, it's a call to do something great. Perhaps not to the levels of glory that the adventurers of old have, or of the fabled few heard talked about in the current day.

But he wants to help as much as he can, in his own small way.
