RE: 100 Questions to Ask About Your Role-Playing Character - AFriendOfAFriend - 07-08-2013 An interesting way to get into your character's head. I've been having some trouble hammering out the finer details of his personality, so this helped immensely. The answers are IC, given as though in an interview. Warning for some mild language. SpoilerPart 1: The Basics
1.What is your full name? "Montague ________. Most... um, most folks call me Monty." (Last name is subject to change.) 2.Where and when were you born? "Somewhere near Limsa Lominsa, about twenty-nine years ago or so." 3.Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) "I... um... I don't know." 4.Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? "Not in a technical sense, no. I stuck up for some of the other orphans, but... -shakes his head- No." 5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. "Don't really live anywhere, as such. I've been traveling with a merchant caravan, helping out with the repairs after the Calamity. It's not bad - good work, good people. You meet a lot of interesting folk, wandering around. Thinking of settling down, though." 6.What is your occupation? "Carpenter, at the moment. Used to work for the Maelstrom, but I lost my stomach for that kind of thing after Carteneau. Might be changing in the future, though... Something on the wind." 7.Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. "I'm... um... tall? I'm Elezen, though, so that's not much to be proud of. Kind of, erm, gangly, I suppose. Uh... Longish dirty blonde hair- usually keep it pulled back, out of the way. My eyes are blue; um, well, they were. Went blind in my left, so it's blue and white now, I guess. Dress... um... practical? No tattoos, but I've got a few scars... Small cut on my cheek, a hole in my shoulder, nasty one on my leg - almost cut it off when I was a kid, logging incident. That's pretty much it, I think." 8.To which social class do you belong? "-laughs- No class, I suppose." 9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? "Been told I look kind of sickly, but I think it's because I don't sleep much... Uh... Does being half-blind count?" 10. Are you right- or left-handed? "Right." 11. What does your voice sound like? "Uh... deeper side of normal, I guess? Never really thought about it, um... People say I'm quiet?" 12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? "Suppose I say suppose a fair bit, you know?" 13. What do you have in your pockets? "Uh... Hang on, just... um... Twenty... three gil, a knife, and... come on you - Ow! Ah, Twelve, splinter, sonuva-" 14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? "S'pose you've noticed I tend to trail off a bit. I'm.. uh... not really used to talking to people. Takes me a moment to get the words right. I grew up around some pretty diverse folk, so my accent's kind of all over the place. Get lost in thought pretty easy, and someone once told me I hum when I'm thinking... Erm, I chew on grass stalks sometimes? Other than that, -shrugs-." Part 2: Growing Up 15. How would you describe your childhood in general? "Pretty normal, I guess. I'm an orphan, so I started working pretty early. Kind of boring, for the most part." 16. What is your earliest memory? "That's... huh... Never really thought of that. Um... probably the matron at the orphanage, reading us to sleep. Gods be, that was forever ago." 17. How much schooling have you had? "Nothing formal. I can read and write, do some basic arithmatic, but that's about it." 18. Did you enjoy school? "Never went, but... Don't think I'd have enjoyed it." 19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities? "Learned by doing, mostly. Watched the older loggers when I was little, tried my best to imitate them - almost lost a leg that way -chuckles-. Uh... got some parade training in the Company, and I can man a ship if I had to." 20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. "Not as such, no." 21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? "Never got on great with the other orphans, but they didn't hate me either. The matrons were always kind, but then they have to be, don't they?" 22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? "Eh... Never really knew. Still don't, bein' honest. I've just kind of... lived, you know?" 23. As a child, what were your favorite activities? "Never really had much time for fun back then." 24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? "The other loggers used to say I was too quiet. I'm, uh, kind of bland, really." 25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? "Heh... we'll leave it 'no,' yes?" 26. When and with whom was your first kiss? "Um... wow, hah. Haven't thought of that in awhile, um... Let's just say alcohol was involved and I ain't too proud of it, alright?" 27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity? "-blushes and clears his throat- Moving on." 28. Describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. "I've always just kind of lived, I guess. Took the most convenient path. It's taken me some interesting places." Part 3: Past Influences 29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? "I don't... Um, don't want to be morbid, but Carteneau. Definitely. Nothing's the same, no one." 30. Who has had the most influence on you? "Uh... Nobody, I guess? My, but saying that aloud makes it sad..." 31. What do you consider your greatest achievement? "Really, the work I've been doing now. Helping people rebuild their homes, reclaim their lives. It's something I'll always look back on with pride." 32. What is your greatest regret? "I've... hah, I've got a few. Not going to bore you, suffice to say I've burned my share of bridges." 33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done? "I'd... um... I'd rather not talk about this anymore, if that's okay." 34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind? "A bit, uh... It involves that whole 'first kiss' incident and we'll leave it at that." 35. When was the time you were the most frightened? "I still see Dalamud cracking open in my nightmares. That great, bloody dragon..." 36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? "Is this not going to stop coming up? -sighs- Okay. I was sixteen, the logging company I worked for was closing and I was signing on with the Maelstrom the next day. I wasn't... wasn't friends with the others, not really, but we knew eachother. They decided to get me drunk to... you know, celebrate my ascension into manhood or something asinine like that. Over the course of the evening it was discovered that I had yet to... ahem... partake of the finer things in life. The others saw fit to remedy that. "It did not end well." 37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? "That's... hmm... I don't think I would, really. I've got my regrets, but nothing... uh... worthy of being rewritten, I suppose." 38. What is your best memory? "We were rebuilding a homestead out in Thanalan, just a few little houses. The owners... I've never seen people so happy to be alive, to be returning to the life they'd built for themselves. Lady of the house even made us dinner every night we worked. Something as simple as cutting some boards, slapping a frame together... It made their lives better. I loved that." 39. What is your worst memory? "The whole Calamity thing is hard to top, but... um... It was a little before that, actually. During the battle itself. I got shot by one of those Garlean gun-things. Not something I'd like to experience twice." Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions 40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? "Most would probably call me a pessimist, I suppose, but... hmm... I guess I like to think I'm more a realist." 41. What is your greatest fear? "Um... Death, I suppose?" 42. What are your religious views? "I've seen enough to know that somethin's out there. The old Archon's spell kind of proves that, don'tcha think?" 43. What are your political views? "I try and stay out of it. Leave that stuff for someone with a head for it, you know?" 44. What are your views on sex? "Again with this topic... Um, I believe it is a private matter and best left that way." 45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? "I've taken men's lives before. It's... it's not something I enjoy doing, but what must be what be. They got their side of the line, I got mine, and that's that." 46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do? "I've seen... I've seen bad things done, by good men and evil. Us people... we're capable of things that'd make the Voidsent green with envy. Don't think I could call any one thing worse than the other, but... um... Children. No one should ever hurt children." 47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? "Soul mates stretches credibility a bit -chuckles-, but true love? Eh, sure, why not?" 48. What do you believe makes a successful life? "Leaving something behind, something... meaningful. You could have all the riches in the world, but what good's that gonna do you dead? I'd rather know my life was lived doing something good, helping people." 49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? "I don't... hide, as such, but I don't really like talking about certain things. I don't got much to be private about, but what I do is mine." 50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? "No use for 'em, really. Nobody's any better or any worse than anybody else just by skin or state. It's what you do that makes you." 51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? "I don't drink anymore. Bad experiences with it... Um... Would never harm a kid. The rest is all circumstantial, I s'pose." 52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? "Erm, I'm not really the most passionate of people. Ain't much out there worth dying for, plenty worth killing for, and I've never been that close to anybody... I fought with my comrades, defended 'em with my life, but... I never went into a fight looking to die, you know?" Part 5: Relationships With Others 53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? "I tend to keep distant, but I don't believe in bein' rude. I've never really, uh, never been real close to anybody, so I don't know if I'd treat anyone any different." 54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why? "Don't really got no one like that." 55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? "I guess... huh... I guess that old Archon. Whatever he did, it put a stop to the Calamity, and probably saved my life." 56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people. "Here you go, makin' me feel like a loser again -laughs-." 57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. "Not as such. Wouldn't say no if somebody came along, though." 58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. "Not me, no." 59. What do you look for in a potential lover? "I... um... Yeah." 60. How close are you to your family? "Don't got one, weren't you listening earlier?" 61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? "I guess... I guess it'd be nice, somewhere down the line. Haven't thought much about it." 62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? "-shrugs- My shadow, I suppose." 63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? "I trust the men I work with to a point, just like I trusted my comrades in the Maelstrom. Always keep that one eye open, though. Never know what's goin' on in a man's head." 64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you? "-smiles sadly- Not a one." 65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why? "Wouldn't say I despise anybody, really... It's, uh, it's too much work, you know? Hating people. Saps your energy... Um... The White Raven would be a good candidate, though, if I did. World's a better place without that mad bastard in it." 66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? "I keep my opinions to myself, mostly, but that doesn't mean I'll let someone walk over me." 67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? "I tend to avoid social situations, let alone leadin' 'em." 68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? "Not really. Crowds make me nervous." 69. Do you care what others think of you? "Not particularly, no." Part 6: Likes And Dislikes 70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? "I like to find someplace quiet to sit and think." 71. What is your most treasured possession? "I don't... uh... Guess I don't have one. Not really sentimental." 72. What is your favorite color? "Um... blue?" 73. What is your favorite food? "Eh. Food's food." 74. What, if anything, do you like to read? "Heh, um... -blushes faintly- I like the old stories, you know? Heroes and dragons and whatnot. Legends." 75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)? "Music's fine, if the mood's right... Never had much of an eye for art. Saw a troupe of dancers, once, when we stopped off in Ul'dah for supplies. That was... interesting." 76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? "Don't drink, or any of that. Guess I chew on grass, but that's not much of a drug. Nights are rough, since Carteneau. Helps me relax." 77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night? "Alone with my thoughts, mostly." 78. What makes you laugh? "Um... Funny things? I don't know." 79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you? "Nothin' I can think of off hand." 80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? "I do. I think alot, go on walks, read a bit. Anythin' to pass the time, really." 81. How do you deal with stress? "Think through it, mostly. Chew things when I'm nervous." 82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? "Neither, really. I'm more... uh... reactionary, I guess? I tend to just go with it, roll with the punches as they come." 83. What are your pet peeves? "Don't really have any, I don't think." Part 7: Self Images And Etc. 84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? "Uh... Hopefully wake up, eat, work, take a break, work some more, eat again, try to sleep, repeat. Doesn't bother me much if it changes, suppose I just change with it." 85. What is your greatest strength as a person? "I don't... I don't think I'm particularly strong." 86. What is your greatest weakness? "Probably that I'm so... so alone. Strength in numbers, you know?" 87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? "I guess... I guess I'd try to be more open? More comfortable, around people." 88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? "Hah. Introverted. Definitely." 89. Are you generally organized or messy? "Um, bit of both? Might be a bit messy, but it's my mess, you know? I know where and what it all is." 90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at. "Huh. It's funny, 'cause I don't like talking about myself much, but... Here I've been answerin' all your questions. I'm handy with an axe, I guess, though my depth perception's been shot to hell. I'm... Twelve, why is it so hard to think of good qualities? Um... I'm reliable, I think? Keep my word, and... uh... Honest? Bad's easier, unfortunately. I'm kind of shy, as you probably noticed... Easily distracted, too, and probably too quiet." 91. Do you like yourself? "-grins- Not really." 92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…) "I joined the Maelstrom 'cause it was just... easy. They needed men, I needed work. Adventurin', though? ... I don't know. Been restless of late. Maybe that's what I should be doing? Rebuilding's almost done, and besides hammering things together only thing I'm decent at is fighting..." 93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? "Don't know." 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? "-chuckles- Dead, probably." 95. If you could choose, how would you want to die? "Any way that don't involve getting shot would be preferable. No fire, either... Drowning, maybe? Seems kinda peaceful." 96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. "Uh... huh. Give my things away, I suppose. Tell somebody a story. Maybe get drunk one last time." 97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? "The good things I've done." 98. What three words best describe your personality? "Um... Damned, but you ask difficult questions. Uh... Quiet... Reserved... Alone." 99. What three words would others probably use to describe you? "Probably 'who is that?' -laughs-" 100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…) (You can't hide forever, Monty.) Covered in soot, sweat, and machine grease, a rather haggard looking highlander...or...boxy midlander. It was hard to tell, takes measure of the interviewer. Part 1: The Basics 1.What is your full name? Isaac Jacobi. Why, who's askin' about? 2.Where and when were you born? Ul'Dah. Low income wards. 32nd day of the 4th Astral Moon. 3.Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) Rachel Jacobi is my mother. My father went by Sylas. The latter I never knew, as he was not the sort to do things like "raise children" or "care for a family." My mother provided for us. Worked as an Alchemist. Unfriendly woman. Fair, though. Not...not in complexion. She was just, I suppose one might say. 4.Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? He grits his teeth, obviously choking something back. Indeed. Two. I happen to be the oldest of three. The middle Jacobi brother is named Samuel, and there is not enough time in the world for me to list the myriad of reasons that he should be shot, stabbed, beaten, drowned, drawn, quartered, burnt, and scattered to the sea. The youngest is Adam. Mute. Lives at one of the Ossuaries, I forget which. 5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. Currently? In a tent on the Lominsan isles. There's little to it. It's beige? Sits in a clearing. My crew takes up residence in this clearing as well. Beatric Reid, and Castus Allard. Registered members of a crew in the employ of the Thalassocracy, I assure you. 6.What is your occupation? Err...I suppose you might say "Brigand", but you'd only be half correct. I take engineering contracts when available. Ships. City blocks. Arms and armor. 7.Give a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. Mate, I am sitting right here. D'you really... Oi, fine: Hyur. Male. 32 cycles. Five fulms, Eleven ilms, approximately 190-some ponze. Hair's dark, but you can't tell, it being shaved as close as it is. Eyes are grey, the scar on my eye isn't as awful as you might imagine. Did it to myself when I was younger. Snapped a bit of iron, and it came back on me. Err...been told my nose is prominent...did recently wake up after a "celebration" of my not being dead with a new bit of ink, but these are the hazards of living in Limsa Lominsa. Haven't got a look at it yet. 8.To which social class do you belong? None of them, frankly. Most want little to do with me and mine. 9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? Do not get me started on my allergies, mate. Pollen, and bloody dust. Can't use my left nostril all spring, and all bloody summer. 10. Are you right- or left-handed? Neither. Both. Why? 11. What does your voice sound like? Been told I've an odd accent for a slum-child (English), but that's something I picked up in an attempt to better fit at Academy. Stuck with me. Given that we're speaking, currently, I find this a bit odd, but I've been told that I take too much care with my pronunciation. I would posit that there is no such thing, but then again, the denizens of this city can barely read. Take that as you will. 12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? What do I...how do you propose I keep track of that? D'you believe I might keep a diary of every utterance, during every single moment of every day? How else would I produce accurate results. S'bad science, chum, I'll tell you that. 13. What do you have in your pockets? Rifles through his pockets Err...let us have a look...pliers, cleaning rods, cleaning picks, collapsible doming iron, doming hammer, cross-pein...unhooks a rather large, heavy belt with a myriad of pouches, loops, and assorted bits chasing hammer, whetstones, anti-voidsent explosives, anti-spoken explosives, anti-vilekin explosives, extra shot, blunderbuss, two pistols, only one a repeater (Don't bloody touch that, by the way, has a habit of going off all at once), powder, cleaning rags, two knives, one utility and one for defensive purposes and a few...crystal clusters for...what-have-you. For the next few moments, Isaac obsessively cleans, sorts, and replaces his affects. 14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? Continues to sort and clean. I am told that I have a tendency toward obsessive behaviors. Part 2: Growing Up 15. How would you describe your childhood in general? I was hungry, filthy, and frequently engaged in stick fighting to protect my younger brothers from their mouths and bravado. 'Bout standard, I'd say. 16. What is your earliest memory? My mother refusing service to a very tall man in fine clothes. He screamed, and stamped his feet. Threatened to have her gutted and tossed into the sands. 17. How much schooling have you had? I attended Academy in Ul'Dah. Started at 6 cycles. Ended in it's entirety at 20 cycles. Too smart to ignore, is what my professors would say about me. Never set well with them that our name had no standing. 18. Did you enjoy school? Immensely! Had I any say in it, I would have stayed my entire life. 19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities? Everywhere. Necessity tends to dictate what I do and do not learn these days. 20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. No, mate. 21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? Not famously. My mother and I fought. My brothers and I fought. Then I gave up. 22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Inarticulate as it sounds: "Happy." Never did find out what I meant by that. 23. As a child, what were your favorite activities? I used to climb a great many things. I would also play strategy games with the richer children when they came to visit the shop. 24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? ...I have no ruttin' idea, mate. That was a long time ago. 25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? Not in the slightest. No clout to our name meant no friends to speak of. I had my brothers, and I had my chores 'round our home. 26. When and with whom was your first kiss? I was 12, and she was...well. She shouldn't have been speaking to me. She wore a red scarf, and told me her name was Scarlet. Thought she was awfully clever for it. I didn't agree, but I also did not argue with the quick peck on the lips she gave me to rouse her father's ire. Ran from one end of the city to the other. 27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity? No, and I respectfully decline to share any further. 28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. ...What are you on about? Events lead to where they will, mate. You live. Keep living. That's the push of it all. Part 3: Past Influences 29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? There's no single crucible that forges a man, and so this question is invalid. All experiences contribute to the end result, and to weigh any more heavily than any other is intellectually irresponsible. I am not the irresponsible sort. 30. Who has had the most influence on you? Luck, I suppose? I don't rightly know. There's no real way to quantify. 31. What do you consider your greatest achievement? Waking up. Again, and again. 32. What is your greatest regret? I've plenty of those. None of which do I plan to discuss. 33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done? It's a matter of public record that I have been accused of High Treason, and it's no secret that I have sailed with the Bloody Executioners. I don't care to recount the events of the latter. 34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind? Believe I just answered that. 35. When was the time you were the most frightened? Likely when I'd been shot 'round about my heart. Puts a bit of a fright in a man. 36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? I've been fished out of the sea, stark naked, on three occasions. 37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? Becomes quiet, and still. Eerily still. Can't pick just one. 38. What is your best memory? Smiles to himself. Never you mind. 39. What is your worst memory? Oi, that's an easy one. Bleeding to death. 'Bout the worst feeling one can imagine, knowing that your very life force is leaking out of you. Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions 40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? I am a realist. I deal in fact. 41. What is your greatest fear? That I am right in my sneaking suspicions about this world, and it's people. 42. What are your religious views? None, I suppose. I don't deny the possibility of the Twelve, or in fact any of the "gods" people claim to speak with and to. But, I've heard nothing from them, and don't expect I ever will. 43. What are your political views? Ah. Now there's an interesting question. You see, I am a firm believer in the rule of the majority. I sincerely believe that a government should work for the good of the people it claims to protect and bring order to, not for itself and not for things material. 44. What are your views on sex? Lovely, when there's a reason for it. Again, why? 45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? Put it to you this way: You do not simply gain the right to say the things I say, go the places I go, or see the things I see due to a winning smile, and a pretty face. I do what I must to continue living. 46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do? Hm. I suppose that would be to stamp out freedom of thought and will, frankly. Not that anyone truly possesses that power, but it doesn't stop Garlea from trying, does it? 47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? ...We...might want to dig our heads out of the clouds. 48. What do you believe makes a successful life? For myself, it is simply waking up the next morning. That means I've done something right. 49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? I've no secrets. Only standards. 50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? Can't say I'm thrilled with Gridania. They did hunt me for a time, so that has soured my perception. 51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? I am not willing to bend my knee to any flag, anywhere. A nation is a construct, and nothing more. Lives have value. Imaginary borders do not. 52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? If at any point my life can be traded for lives of greater value, be that quantitative or qualitative, it becomes a simple choice to make. Not that I intend to die, of course. Part 5: Relationships With Others 53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? Every last individual gets his fair shake, mate. They're owed that much. The rest of our interactions are quite up to chance. 54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why? My crew. We've faced...well, everything. The end of everything at that, together. That's a rare bond, one that survives an apocalypse. 55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? One person? I have a working understanding with Ms. Wamoto. Haven't seen her in a spell. My crew, however, I hold above all else. Two people in the world that I might trust to watch my back as a bed of knives gathers at it. 56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people. Been going on about them for the past few moments. 57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. I believe Ms. Reid is the closest I have at this moment. But, she's a touch off, and I am not entirely certain of our status. 58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. I suppose I have, but again, I've standards. The details are mine to keep. 59. What do you look for in a potential lover? Nothing. Spend as much time predicting and analyzing as I do, and you tend to favor surprise. 60. How close are you to your family? I write my mother, time and again. I visit my youngest brother, when I can find him. The second youngest should sincerely pray that we never cross paths again. 61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? No. No time. No patience. 62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? Wouldn't have to turn. They're at my side, and I am at theirs. Outside of my crew? No one. Can't. They've their own burdens. 63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? Again, gone on about them a fair amount. 64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you? Likely Ms. Reid. Mr. Allard would never admit to it, but he would. 65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why? His expression hardens. Let's keep this pleasant. 66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? I tend toward conflict. It's how we grow. 67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? I lead because I have to. Not entirely comfortable in the position, but here we are none the less. 68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? I try to avoid it, frankly. When I speak to crowds, they pretend they're deaf. 69. Do you care what others think of you? Why would I? Part 6: Likes And Dislikes 70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? I build. I create. I forge. 71. What is your most treasured possession? You can't be serious. Why would I tell you that? 72. What is your favorite color? Quite fond of red, I must say. 73. What is your favorite food? I'm fond of duck. 74. What, if anything, do you like to read? Anything. Everything. 75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)? I tend toward music. Strings, in particular. 76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? I've smoked a pipe in the past. I drink every now and again. Entirely recreational. 77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night? The same as I might spend any other? 78. What makes you laugh? Quirks a brow and shakes his head. A myriad of things, why? 79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you? Ignorance. 80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? Likely make something. 81. How do you deal with stress? I invent. I practice. 82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? Plans fall apart. Best to have a series of failsafes, rather than a plan. If X, then Y. That sort of thing. 83. What are your pet peeves? Improper grammar. Negligence. Laziness. Part 7: Self Images And Etc. 84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? Define "normal". 85. What is your greatest strength as a person? My mind. 86. What is your greatest weakness? My mind. 87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Inhales slowly Hm...Suppose I might want my eyebrows back. Burnt off during an explosion. 88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? No real idea, no reliable data, no answer. 89. Are you generally organized or messy? ...Come now. 90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at. I am an excellent engineer, fabricator, and survivor, if I do say so myself. Not quite as good with interpersonal relationships, dancing, or drawing, though. 91. Do you like yourself? I wouldn't say that I'm a proponent of who I am these days, but then again, who is? 92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…) A series of stupid decisions, circumstance, and eh...well. We'll forget about that last bit. 93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? I've several. When they've been accomplished, you'll know. 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? No idea. Quite excited to find out, though. 95. If you could choose, how would you want to die? Old, and in my sleep. 96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. Offer my goodbyes, and leave a great, smoking crater in the closest Imperial holding. Haven't got a third. 97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? Frankly, I'm hoping to be forgotten, thank you. 98. What three words best describe your personality? You can't qualify a man in three words, mate. You ignore far too many pieces of the total picture. Again, irresponsible. 99. What three words would others probably use to describe you? Depends on who you might ask. I've heard "Murderer" a few times. "Monster" time and again. "Reliable" at least once. Rather like that one. 100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…) Deep breaths, man. You can do this. Fifteen fifty-three on theSecond Sun o’ the Third Astral Moon. 3.Who are/were your parents? Pale Moon be me father, we get along well. Gets his name frombein’ born paler than most Hellsguard on a late night. He be the part o’ the clan that keeps a-watchin’ to make sure souls don’t be strayin’ from the underworld. The work ‘s pretty serious, part o’ an ancient tradition we hold. He be pretty disappointed that I didn’t want a part o’ it – ‘s boring, ya know? – but he be understandin’ what I want. He be a real amazin’ black mage, one o’ the best in our clan! Yellow Oak be me mum, we don’t get along at all so I aint’ betalkin’ ‘bout her. 4.Do you have any siblings? Whatare/were they like? Nope, the only child ‘s far as I know. 5.Where do you live now, and withwhom? Describe the place and the person/people. Live on me own in Ul’dah. Got a small innroom at the Quicksand. Don’t live with no one so far, ‘s nice just livin’ on me own though, I don’t mind. 6.What is your occupation? Freelance for the most part. I do dockwork in Limsa Lominsa, bodyguard duty for what be left o’ them nobles in Ul’dah, and I guard caravans going through the Shroud to Gridania. Just been accepted to the Immortal Flames, so ‘s more of a steady job.  7.Write a full physical description ofyourself. You might want to consider factors such as: I’m ‘bout seven fulms one ilm, but youain’t be needin’ me weight! I’m a Hellsguard Roegadyn, if ya can’t tell. Get me sun bleached hair from me father, the darker bits from me mum. I like keepin’ it short, don’t need it gettin’ in the way o’ me fighting or when I’m a-cookin’. Burnt me hair once… eh, don’t ask about that, yeah? ‘S wavy, sort o’ curls at the ends, but I just brush it back and let me bangs hang. Me eyes match me hair, like pale gil. I dress accordin’ to what needs to be done for the day, but for fun just me casual shirt and pants, thigh-high boots and maybe a bit o’ jewelry if I want to impress someone. Got a scar on me forehead from when I was bein’ too overzealous with my workload, box nicked me right in the head. Also got a burn on me right leg, nasty thing, don’t feel like talkin’ ‘bout it, so don’t ask. 8.To which social class do you belong? By Ul’dah standards, probably poor as thembeggars on the strip! In Farreach, we were considered nobility due to me parents status in the clan. On me own, s’pose I be doin’ well, so I say middle class. Least I got a job, yeah? And a legal one too! 9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, orother physical weaknesses? I’m allergic to most anything with seafoodin it – ‘s the main reason why I made me home in Ul’dah not Limsa Lominsa. Shame really, ‘cause they got some o’ the best ale… anyway. My face goes and blows up all puffy if I eat ‘em. And I ain’t tellin’ you my physical disabilities! What d’you take me for, a fool? I got ‘em, I’m only mortal, ‘n that’s all you need to be knowin’. 10. Are you right- or left-handed? Both! Handy ain’t it? 11. What does your voice sound like? Kinda rough, I s’pose, but with a femininetouch to it. I like it. It ain’t no singin’ voice, but it’s good fer yellin’! 12. What words and/or phrases do you usevery frequently? I tend to call people I don’t know well“strangerâ€, and if ya don’t give me your name I’m gonna keep on callin’ you stranger. 13. What do you have in your pockets? Why, you lookin’ to snatch somethin’ youlittle thief? 14. Do you have any quirks, strangemannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? I bite me nails and lips for differentreasons. I tend to hum when I work. Don’t get me started on things I absolutely love – you ain’t gonna shut me up anytime soon. I’m a bit touchy, even with strangers, sometimes it offends people, but I promise ‘s only friendly-like! If I’m upset ‘bout somethin’ sometimes I use me home tongue. Part 2: Growing Up 15. How would you describe your childhoodin general? Boring. Had to learn the clan ways andsuch, but I ain’t got affinity for aether nor an attention span for learnin’ magic. But I s’pose I should call it lucky too; me family was considered part of nobility in the clan ‘cause o’ what me parents do so we was pretty well off. 16. What is your earliest memory? A big red tree right in the middle o’ ourencampment. Ain’t too many trees up in the mountains, but I was born under that phenomenal thing. ‘S where I get me name. 17. How much schooling have you had? I had the required schoolin’ for learnin’magic, but I ain’t paid one gil of attention. Went to a different clan ‘round Farreach to get schoolin’ for a warrior. Learned sloppy Eorzean from some o’ the older Roegadyns who did the tradin’ with them cities. Didn’t learn how to read and me writin’ is kinda… ugly. 18. Did you enjoy school? Depends. Me mum’s schoolin’ – no.Schoolin’ from the other clan – absolutely! Learnin’ Eorzean was sorta tough, but I can’t imagine what lookin’ at Roegadyn tongue outside the clans s’like. 19. Where did you learn most of yourskills and other abilities? I learned my useful skills mostly from a loony hermit up in the most northernpart o’ the Spine. ‘S where most o’ them warrior clans learn their craft, then they teach it to the young’uns or the few crazy folks who dare to travel up in our mountains lookin’ for training. Went by Moenbraena – think that translates to Moon Breaker? On account he goes and tells young’uns he once broke one o’ them moons and that’s why we got one less. Like I says, a loony hermit. 20. While growing up, did you have anyrole models? If so, describe them. Nope! 21. While growing up, how did you getalong with the other members of your family? I got along with me father pretty well –we did have a few squabbles but we’re damn stubborn ‘bout some things. He tried to be supportive knowin’ I ain’t interested in the family culture. Ain’t talkin’ ‘bout me mum, already told ya that. Got an uncle on me father’s side who trades with a group of other Hellsguard, we’re more like best friends than anything else. Don’t see too much of ‘im lately. 22. As a child, what did you want to bewhen you grew up? Wasn’t nothin’ specific ‘til I got older, but when I was a young’un just wanted to be whatever was fun. And watchin’ a smokin’ mountain to make sure them spirit don’t run off ain’t fun. I favor the fighting style of a warrior though, it grew on me as sort of ‘n official sorta occupation. 23. As a child, what were your favoriteactivities? Don’t laugh, but I really liked learnin’ –wished I could’ve learned more! Like readin’, bet that’s fun. All our stories are verbal. On a less borin’ answer, really loved hunting. Wasn’t too good at it, ain’t quiet enough, but was fun all the same! 24. As a child, what kinds of personalitytraits did you display? Me mum would say rebellious, and I s’poseI’d agree with her. Sorta angry child, wanted to do what I wanted, maybe a bit selfish too. 25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? Ain’t no popularity contest up in themmountains, but I had more friends in the neighboring clan further north than I did in me own. Loved makin’ friends, was easy fer me to run up to strangers. Had a handful or two before I left, they was real friendly, supportive, good group o’ people to joke with. But they like it up in them mountains. 26. When and with whom was your firstkiss? I think that term you use is don’t kiss ‘ntell, yeah? 27. Are you a virgin? If not, whenand with whom did you lose your virginity? I ain’t, and I ain’t tellin’ you nothin’ya pervert. 28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e.mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. We got three main clans up in themmountains that we consider family – there are more, but them three are what I consider family. We got my clan o’ mages, we got me favorite clan o’ warriors, then we got o’ clan of traders – them traders influenced me to migrate and try n’ find me own place in the world. They taught me how to speak Eorzean, translated me name so s’easier to say, and educated me on as much as they knew ‘bout them capital cities and how they work and such. I do what they do – freelance – and I keep up with me warrior studies. Even got caught up in another study – fightin’ with me fists! Who knew there was a special technique fer punchin’ people? Part 3: Past Influences 29. What do you consider the mostimportant event of your life so far? Migratin’ away from home. ‘S emotional butfreein’ at the same time. Ain’t no memory more important than hoppin’ on that caravan and recitin’ why I was doin’ it. 30. Who has had the most influence on you? Me uncle – Ahldberk. Think that means OldRock or Mountain. 31. What do you consider your greatestachievement? Makin’ a livin’ on me own. To tell you thetruth, I didn’t think I was gonna do so well on me own, but you’d be surprised who’s gonna ask ya to be mean n’ scary lookin’ for a few bells and pay you for it! 32. What is your greatest regret? Never sayin’ what I shoulda said before Ileft to someone. 33. What is the most evil thing you haveever done? I insulted me mum in front o’ the clan. 34. Do you have a criminal record of anykind? Absolutely not! Well… not on purpose.Ain’t my fault them caravans were runnin’ with illegal goods! 35. When was the time you were the mostfrightened? First time I went head to head with themIxali in the Shroud. I only ever heard ‘bout them in stories from them traders, but up close they’re just… they’re terrifyin’. Like some crazy bird men and them noises they make – thought me blood rain cold as ice. 36. What is the most embarrassing thingever to happen to you? I tried to impress a girl once while I wastrainin’ and I was lookin’ at her and swung me axe into me trainer’s thigh. Ain’t missin’ it! He was wearin’ armor, but there’s a nasty knick. Young love’ll make ya do some cursed stupid things, yeah? 37. If you could change one thing fromyour past, what would it be, and why? No, don’t believe in none o’ that. What’sdone ‘s set in stone and not even them Twelve can change it – ‘s a rule I live by. 38. What is your best memory? Swingin’ me axe for the first time! Wasexhilarating! Threw it into a valley and had to go n’ retrieve it least I had to make another one, but first time I felt I weren’t completely useless since I couldn’t do nothin’ me own clan could do. 39. What is your worst memory? Sure most could sympathize, but that fallof that moon, Dalamud. I weren’t in the war or nothin’, spent me time in Limsa Lominsa watchin’ that red calamity. I ain’t fearin’ it, death ain’t somethin’ you should be fearin’, but leavin’ things unsaid ain’t a way to leave a world. Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions 40. Are you basically optimistic orpessimistic? Optimistic! Can’t be livin’ life thinkin’yer ale’s half empty – that thought’s just depressin’. 41. What is your greatest fear? …Tonberry… 42. What are your religious views? I live by Nald’Thal n’ generally theTwelve. We also have a clan story ‘bout where we three families originated. ‘S a long one though, maybe fer another time. 43. What are your political views? Oi, oi. Don’t wanna get into that, ‘sirritatin’ and I honestly don’t care one way or another, long as them Garleans stay on their side o’ Eorzea. Don’t want nothin’ to do with them metal men. 44. What are your views on sex? What kinda views is there? You have it oryou don’t, you want it or you don’t. Simple ‘s that. 45. Are you able to kill? Under whatcircumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? People? No, never been able to make thatkillin’ blow. When bandits come a-runnin’ to the caravan, I usually knock ‘em out cold, tie ‘em up, and bring ‘em to the nearest place o’ servin’ justice. Ain’t my place to kill another, I ain’t no law judgin’ ruffian. I don’t find killin’ people acceptable, unless they’re them metal men Garleans. Don’t got a problem killin’ Beastmen though. 46. In your opinion, what is the most evilthing any human being could do? Kill a person. Ain’t your right, far as I see it ‘s the Twelve’sduty. 47. Do you believe in the existence ofsoul mates and/or true love? Never really pondered that… s’pose so. Iain’t felt it, but I ain’t ever met everyone in the world so can’t say it ain’t a real thing neither. 48. What do you believe makes a successfullife? Enjoyin’ what you do! Don’t like thething, don’t do it – simple. 49. How honest are you about your thoughtsand feelings? I ain’t always honest, but who is? I tryto be pretty forward, least I go runnin’ circles ‘round someone without meanin’ to, you know? But for them moments where somethin’ personal comes up – I tend to hide it. It ain’t hurtin’ no one if it’s personal, no one knows it but me. 50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? I used to think them Elezen was a stuck upbunch, but I met them snotty nobles in Ul’dah first. I got loads in common with them Elezen in Gridania. Migratin’ was difficult in the beginnin’, but ‘s long as you’re honest don’t see nothin’ wrong with you. Course that only goes fer race n’ personal business n’ such. If you’re a jerk I ain’t gonna like you. 51. Is there anything you absolutelyrefuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? Alchemy – culture rule. Never questionedit too much at home, but when I saw it for me own eyes I can see why it ain’t good. Turnin’ things into other things ain’t natural, you’re messin’ with the balance o’ things! 52. Who or what, if anything, would youdie for? Comrades, close friends, loved ones – loyalty goes a long way inme home clans. If you earned a loyalty of one of us, you be bettin’ on havin’ me at yer back no matter the danger. Part 5: Relationships With Others 53. In general, how do you treat others? Doesyour treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? I’m a generally friendly person I think, love meetin’ new people! Now o’ course their own attitude s’gonna change how I treat them afterwards. Sorta try to gauge them nobles real well, sometimes they’re a bunch o’ lazy good fer nothin’s who wouldn’t know a good day’s work if it nipped them in the arse, but then you got them hard workin’ nobles – I like workin’ for them. I get sort of embarrassed ‘round them academic types – ain’t too educated in readin’ and I don’t wanna be makin’ a fool o’ me self ‘round them. Best type o’ people to be comfortable ‘round are those who enjoy a good hearty drink! Light o’ me life you all are, rest assured. 54. Who is the most important person inyour life, and why? Me uncle and me father. They were the mostsupportive when I didn’t take up them family traditions of watchin’ them smoky mountains. More people I meet, I’m sure this list’ll grow real quick. 55. Who is the person you respect themost, and why? Moenbraena – you remember the ol’ loon Italked about sayin’ he broke a moon. He sorta guided me to where I am now, opened me eyes and guided me to where I’d be most successful. 56. Who are your friends? Do youhave a best friend? Describe these people. So far I’ve been meetin’ a whole gaggle o’people. Can’t say if I got a best friend yet or not, but I got some friends rest assured. There be one, Zerayya, she’s real friendly and cute and – ah. Um. Well, we talk lots, have a real fun time, and she says she’ll teach me how to read too! She owns a bookstore in Limsa Lominsa – says she got books that explode, can you believe that? Then there’s Wynn – he’s a Roegadyn – sayshe owns a ranch! Kinda quiet, don’t talk much but he’s fun to hold conversation with when he get’s a-goin’. He had a Miqo’te taggin’ ‘long with him when I met Wynn, and his name was Shiro. Extra quiet. Ain’t a stranger since I know his name, but don’t know much more ‘bout him… gonna see if I can’t buy him a drink! I met a noble too, Kannadi. She’s a writero’ sorts, wrote two books that I gotta read once I know how. They sound interestin’. She ain’t like them lazy nobles, she’s hard working. A little… reserved? I think that’s the word I’m lookin’ for. But she’s nice, I like her too. Met a Hyur named Zin Jaeger and his quietfriend Kiyone. Zin made friendly with me real quick, went a got us a whole barrel o’ ale. And it was imported from Costa Del Sol! Though he was gettin’ mighty drunk when we started beginnin’ the event we was at. Lost him and Kiyone runnin’ ‘bout – hope they didn’t get too hurt. Sure this list’ll be growin’ too. 57. Do you have a spouse or significantother? If so, describe this person. Nope! But I did earn me self a kiss. Oi,don’t ask, next question! 58. Have you ever been in love? Ifso, describe what happened. Nope! 59. What do you look for in a potentiallover? S’pose we gotta have things in common, can’t just be notenjoyin’ each other’s company. Gotta go out and have fun! Can’t be doin’ nothin’ illegal neither, gotta be absolutely honest. I don’t take well to dishonesty after I be givin’ out me loyalty. ‘S a big offense back where I’m from. Ain’t no gender requirement, what else… eh, you just sorta know when it’s a thing, you know? 60. How close are you to your family? Not very. Haven’t talked to them fer…seven years? Wow, never actually thought back n’ counted. 61. Have you started your ownfamily? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? No, it ain’t really somethin’ I’m keen onright now. I’m young, gotta go out and do things! Family things can wait. 62. Who would you turn to if you were indesperate need of help? I like bein’ independent, I have a hardtime askin’ others fer help – and I ain’t stubborn! 63. Do you trust anyone to protectyou? Who, and why? I like bein’ more of a protector than theother way ‘round. When I was younger, me father used to protect me, so if I was still with me home clan, guess I’d say me father. Otherwise, I’d like to be doin’ the protectin’. 64. If you died or went missing, who wouldmiss you? I’m sure me home clans and family alreadybe missin’ me, but perhaps the new friends I’ve made too? 65. Who is the person you despise themost, and why? I ain’t gettin’ in to that, it’s personaland none of yer business. 66. Do you tend to argue with people, oravoid conflict? Since I migrated, I try to avoid conflict, but… yeah, alright, I s’pose I’m stubborn and sometimes I just gotta get me point across. Haven’t really been in a heated argument since me mum though. 67. Do you tend to take on leadershiproles in social situations? Sorta depends on the situation. If I’masked, I probably would should I be in fit condition to do what I’m bein’ asked. Mostly I’ll be too engaged in lookin’ at things to be speakin’ up if I ain’t spoken to. If things be gettin’ out o’ hand, I do try to speak up n’ settle it down – I do that as a job sometimes. 68. Do you like interacting with largegroups of people? Why or why not? Sure do! More people, the merrier! Ourhome clans were small, rarely more than ten to each three, so seein’ lots o’ different people in one place just gets me all excited. 69. Do you care what others think of you? S’pose that depends. If it’s someone I’llbe lookin’ to impress, I’ll admit to showin’ off a bit more than usual. Otherwise, you can kiss me fist. Part 6: Likes And Dislikes 70. What is/are your favorite hobbies andpastimes? Gambling. Used to be a problem back home, but not so much anymore… well, I think we can all agree that Ul’dah ain’t the best place for best decisions? I also love to cook – don’t do much fer other people, but that don’t mean I ain’t willin’ to! 71. What is your most treasured possession? The first axe I ever crafted up inFarreach – little dinky thing, can’t use it now, but I keep it in on me wall in the inn. 72. What is your favorite color? Red. What? I ain’t biased! 73. What is your favorite food? Can I say ale? No? Well I s’pose I’m aglutton for spiced pastries. 74. What, if anything, do you like toread? I’d love to read everythin’ anyone’s gotto offer once I learn how. 75. What is your idea of goodentertainment? A bar, good Costa Del Sol ale, music, andgood company! 76. Do you smoke, drink, or usedrugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? I drink, but it ain’t a problem. Gamblin’might be, I ain’t got the time for that lately. 77. How do you spend a typical Saturdaynight? Workin’, but lately I’ve been catchin’these amazin’ events I see on flashy posters! 78. What makes you laugh? Crude jokes – I’m a real sucker for ‘em. 79. What, if anything, shocks or offendsyou? Anythin’ rude said towards me home clan orme culture. Don’t know if I’m much for shockin’ though. Them Ixali did throw me when I first saw them though. 80. What would you do if you had insomniaand had to find something to do to amuse yourself? Readin’, if I could, or go out and run thestreets of Ul’dah. I like me late-night and mornin’ runs. 81. Part 7: Self Images And Etc. 84. Describe the routine of a normal dayfor you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? I run two loops ‘round Ul’dah, cook mebreakfast, eat, and head off to wherever me freelance linkshell be needin’ me. If you could change one thing aboutyourself, what would it be? I said this already – ‘s set in stone, don’t be changin’nothin’. ‘Sides, who wouldn’t love me the way I already am? And it ain’t bad, family ain’t ever a bad thing, but ‘s borin’ if you can’t take the world you was given and see it all. Sometimes I wish I could’a taken me family with me, though me mum would hate it I’m sure. I want to mold me self to an entire world, not just me little part in them mountains. I don’t tend to be tellin’ that to everyone though so keep it to yourself, yeah? I just be tellin’ people I like me self a good ol’ fashion rumble into the unknown. 93. What goal do you most want toaccomplish in your lifetime? Seein’ and doin’ everything! ‘S probablyimpossible, but I can try, yeah? 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Bahamut pretty much torches the place and you aren’t worry that everything might be in ruins? Girl, wake up and get your bum up out of that hole of self pity and march up there as soon as the content is available! Also, you are kind of a terrible merchant. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?    I wasn't so popular, as my time was taken by study. That said a few companions were very helpful at the time. When and with whom was your first kiss?    A companion you will not hear of, at a time you will not hear of. 27. What do you consider your greatest achievement?    Finding a few artifacts to study. While the study was brought to a halt, it was still a great find and a tragedy to have lost them again. 32. What is your greatest regret?    ...Losing contact with someone of significant importance. 33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?    Tortured another person for vital information regarding an artifact that went missing. Justified, of course. 34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind? Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions
40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?    Pessimistic. Things will go poorly unless you make a firm adjustment. 41. What is your greatest fear?    ..heights. 42. What are your religious views?    There is sufficient evidence that the Twelve are present. 43. What are your political views?    Money is where the power lies, but knowledge and wisdom fuels the acquisition of such. Ul'dah shows us that anything can be made, purchased, or made to happen with the right amount of money. Should someone without the knowledge to make that wealth be one in charge of others? There is a balance, and that is usually carried out as what is best for profit is usually good enough for people. 44. What are your views on sex?    People will do what they will. It's best to say I'm undecided as to whether or not it should be kept between two who are extremely close, or if it is a couple's choice. If pressed, I would likely side with a couple's choice as I am in no position to dictate. Hmm... why limit to couples when anyone willing and of age can make their own choice?  I would hope those choosing to have sex would seek to protect themselves from unexpectedly starting a family.  Knowledge and Wisdom... 45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?    This is done almost daily. If you are referring specifically to other people, then it usually comes down to whether or not there is a reason. I wouldn't kill someone because I have the power to, but rather I would if there is a bounty, if there is reason to believe that a person would do harm to others, or if a person is at risk of permanently destroying any of my research. 46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?    Psychological torture is likely the worst I can imagine, but even that can have it's benefits. 47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?    No 48. What do you believe makes a successful life?    An occupation you like, that you are alive to pursue, with enough gil to not want for more. 49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?    I prefer to keep my feelings to myself, though they do tend to show at times despite my preference. 50. Do you have any biases or prejudices?    Are Miqo'te able to read and write? Most of them I see in the cities these days sell themselves more than selling their services as a hard worker or legitimate academic. 51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?    Destroy my research and study material without having a second archive elsewhere. My studies are my life and occupation. 52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?    There is nothing in particular. Dying would be a waste of any future talent I would have. Show Content
Part 5: Relationships With Others
53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?    I tend to stay at a distance if I can help it. Trust is a valuable commodity that is too often spoiled and I would rather have mine not be spoiled. Those that prove themselves as allies and friends might see a more relaxed demeanor, but it is rare. 54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?    Myself, because my parents would want me to continue beyond their years. 55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?    My old headmaster of A.E.T.H.E.R. more than six years ago. Soren. He made me realize that even for research, force must sometimes be used if you are to get any progress. 56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.    I don't have many. Most are associates of business and trade. Verence, a fairly tall Elezen who also tends to be a bit of an introvert like myself would be the closest to a best friend I have. 57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person.    Not anymore. 58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.    I have been, but she left me for someone else. While I cannot say I have fully healed from that heartbreak, I hope she remains happy. 59. What do you look for in a potential lover?    One not afraid to steal my attention from my work despite my retaliation. One that is intelligent enough to discuss and even help me with my research. One that would balance out my typical temper and pessimism. I would hope that she would be a Lalafell herself, but there is nothing wrong with any other race. 60. How close are you to your family?    Fairly, I still write to them, news hasn't been the best lately. 61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?    No, I wish I had, though. Companionship and the responsibility of taking care of a family would be an interesting and considerably challenging step in my life. A step that would likely force me to change, for the better I would hope. 62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?    Reluctantly, Verence. I prefer to deal with my issues myself. 63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?    Anyone I hire with a good set of skills. That doesn't mean I should not be ready to defend myself instead. 64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you?    My parents. 65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why?    There is no person I particularly hate. If pressed, perhaps I'd have to say the Flame Legion Quartermaster, always arguing that I'd do more good in the field killing more of their enemies than continuing my studies. 66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?    Argue. 67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?    In social situations? No, I tend to let others manage that. However there were several times where I was... drafted to a leadership position in some of my previous years. 68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?    Not particularly. It becomes difficult to keep track of people you have just met and things tend to get muddled. I prefer to keep working towards something, anything. 69. Do you care what others think of you?    I get curious at times. Show Content
Part 6: Likes And Dislikes
70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?    I still enjoy climbing a tree on occasion. 71. What is your most treasured possession?    My father's alembic. 72. What is your favorite color?    Teal 73. What is your favorite food?    Beef Stew, though sometimes I want to put a bit of pepper for a little heat. 74. What, if anything, do you like to read?    Is... that a trick question? 75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)?    Any book, fiction or otherwise is great, especially in quiet company. 76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?    I smoke, but rarely. I limit myself to once a week at most. I don't drink that often either as I tend to be a laughing stock when I do. I have no interest in quitting either. 77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?    What is "Saturday"? 78. What makes you laugh?    Despite what you would expect, a good joke can get me to laugh. 79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you?    Book burning. There is no reason to waste them like that, and burning those books helps no one. 80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?    I would try to stay away from my research if I knew I wasn't doing well. Perhaps a book of.. questionable material for purists... would be amusing, that or maybe I would distil something to put me to sleep. 81. How do you deal with stress?    Badly, grinding teeth, and breaking something. 82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?    I prefer to have a plan, but I know that no plan survives reality. 83. What are your pet peeves?    Staring over my shoulder when I am reading. Show Content
Part 7: Self Images And Etc.
84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?    Get up, take care of hygiene needs, check for any assignments or trips to the field. Check gear to be used for the day and get to it. Should there be no assignments of trips to the field, I may choose to work on my father's art. When this routine is disrupted, I tend to overreact for a short time. I typically have my day planned and I do not appreciate having it disrupted, though I know that in a lot of cases it cannot be helped. 85. What is your greatest strength as a person?    Dedication to my craft? ... not entirely sure what I am expected to write here. 86. What is your greatest weakness?    Sometimes the pursuit of knowledge and research can cloud my judgement. 87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?    To learn to relax more often and enjoy a wider set of experiences. 88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted?    Introverted, I already mentioned that. 89. Are you generally organized or messy?    Organized.. usually. 90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.    Researching, Thaumaturgy, Fishing    Armorsmithing, Talking about Myself, Socializing 91. Do you like yourself?    Not particularly. I feel like I am a pretentious moron more often than not and that I am far too uptight for my own good. ... it's likely why my former significant other is no longer with me. 92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…)    The money is good, and that is what funds my studies. 93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?    To eventually open my own library and school. At the very least, I would like to set in motion the opening of said school. 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?    Likely still working in adventuring while trying to find safe investments that can mature. Five years is not that much time. 95. If you could choose, how would you want to die?    Quickly. 96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.    Draft a will, drink heavily, and generally make a bit of a nuisance of myself. ...I could use an excuse to blow off steam. 97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?    Ruthless pursuit of academics, to the point of even harming others. 98. What three words best describe your personality?    Serious, workaholic, ruthless. 99. What three words would others probably use to describe you?    Mean, shut-in, bookworm. 100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…)    Take a week off from study, see how it feels. Write down how you feel after if you have to. RE: 100 Questions to Ask About Your Role-Playing Character - Freyar - 07-09-2013 Pretty interesting to read everyone else's. RE: 100 Questions to Ask About Your Role-Playing Character - Isilme - 07-09-2013 Show Content
Part 1: The BasicsPart 1: The Basics
1.What is your full name? Isilme Rihan Turuphant (Her name by Seeker traditions would be M'Isilme Hirilonde) 2.Where and when were you born? Limsa Lominsa. (Unknown to Izzy, her mother was actually in custody at the Coral Tower at the time. She as literally born in a holding cell) 3.Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) Hirilonde Turuphant - Captain in the Knights of the Barracuda. Was a field trainer for the Cudas before the war, teaching unit cohesion and tactics. Before the battle of Cateneau he requested and was granted a transfer to front line duty. He is presumed to have been killed at Carteneau, but the damage to Izzy's memories of him indicate he became a Warrior of Light instead. Mahayi Sodachi - Born M'Hayi Sodachi, Mahayi was a former assassin. Eventually reformed by Hirilonde, part of her parole involved never picking up a blade again. She retired to being a housewife, and to managing the home and raising Isilme. She was killed in La Noscea when Bahamut destroyed their home 4.Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? None that I know of, but Dad... he was a bit of a womanizer, even AFTER getting married. I wouldn't put it past him to have put a little half brother or sister in some wench out there. 5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. I live in Limsa Lominsa, in a small, kinda simple apartment. Nel and I spend most of our gil on the shop and the forge, and whatever is left over goes to Ilyanna. 6.What is your occupation? I'm a Second Lieutenant in the Maelstrom, but because of the last minute orders that spared me a trip to Carteneau, I'm... viewed with some suspicion and distrust. They know some strings must have been pulled to get those orders, but they don't know by whom, because they don't remember my father. They see me as more dishonest than a deserter. However, they need skilled people, and I'm a skilled smith. So, while they wouldn't trust me to be in charge of the Commodore's rubber ducky, they're perfectly happy to have me crank our chainmail or cobalt plating. When I'm not smithing for the Grand Company, I work in the shop Nel and I own in Hawker's Alley. Making armor or weapons, repairs, materia melding and the like. And I help take care of Ilyanna, of course. 7.Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. Height: 5'4" Weight: 114 lbs Race: Miqo'te/Hyuran crossbreed (Seeker/Midlander) Hair: Red with platinum hilights Eye color: Heterochromatic. Left eye is green, right eye is blue 8.To which social class do you belong? Soldier 9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? I'm healthy, but I can't bear children, due to a severe childhood illness that rendered me sterile. 10. Are you right- or left-handed? Right handed. 11. What does your voice sound like? WAAAAY to 'cute'. 12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? It's not my fault! 13. What do you have in your pockets? Dark matter, blacksmith hammer, armorsmith hammer, various other crafting odds and ends, five gil, and my chocobo whistle. 14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? I hate fish. For some reason, smiling Hellsguard creep me the hells out. And, for some reason, I have this bizarre compulsion to... to... play with yarn. Like, if someone tosses a ball of yarn in front of me, I wanna chase it. I've even gotten banned from Sunsilks over an... unfortunate incident. Show Content
Part 2: Growing UpPart 2: Growing Up
15. How would you describe your childhood in general? Painful. I spent most of my childhood battling a wasting illness. Something the healers at the Fane described as an ‘Acute aetheric imbalance’, whatever that means. Mom and Dad never said much, but I overheard them worrying it was because of me being a halfbreed. On bad days, I couldn’t get out of bed at all, and even on good days I’d get tired easily. I really didn’t get to run or climb or play with the other kids like I wanted. They did eventually fix me, but the damage was done. I won’t ever have kids because of it. But the weakness was gone, and I promised myself I’d never be weak again. 16. What is your earliest memory? My father, Hirilonde, reading me a story from one of his journals. 17. How much schooling have you had? Having a parent in the Coral Tower has advantages, and one of ‘em was access to a good education. I was schooled by the arcanists along with a lot of other kids of officers. One wouldn’t think pirates would be big on reading or writing, but people forget that sailors have to accurate calculate their position on a chart from a few star readings and a compass. That takes a pretty strong grasp of math, not to mention being able to read a chart. An Ul’Dahn can count coin, but does he know his latitude from his ledger? 18. Did you enjoy school? Not really. The stuff I wanted to learn... making stuff... they didn’t cover enough of, and I’m no navigator. I learned the basics, and I did credibly. Didn’t get along so well with my classmates though. 19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities? Most of my practical skills I learned from my Dad. Combat, tactics, survival. I was holding a sword as soon as I could lift one, and I never really put it down. The rest I learned from the smitty’s guild. Neither Mom nor Dad was really much into building things, but they encouraged me, and the guild always supported me. Even now, with my reputation tarnished. I also know a little conjury I picked up in the Fane. I mostly learned to help pass the time during treatments, and take my mind off the pain. I learned a lot of elemental theory, and a little healing magic to help supplement my treatments. I’ll never be a great healer like Eva, but I know enough. 20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. Dad, mostly. I was always inspired by Dad’s stories, and I wanted to be a noble knight like him. He used to tell me he wasn’t the great hero he made himself out to be in his stories, but that’s okay. Eva was also a role model, of a sort. Mostly, I envy her. I wish I could have even a fraction of her poise, grace... femininity. I feel... short, scrawny and drab next to her, but at the same time it isn’t just the physical differences. She has a.. a grace to her that I wish I could emulate. 21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? Mom was always a bit exasperated that I didn’t share her... obsession with fish. But we got along well. She never told me much of her past though, and she always seemed a little withdrawn, like she was afraid to get too close. She was always there for me, though, with a blanket, or a hug, or words of comfort. And Dad, of course, we were two of a kind. 22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A Paladin, and a soldier of Limsa Lominsa. 23. As a child, what were your favorite activities? When I was a kid, and too sick to really run around, hide and seek was one of my favorite games to play with Em and Eva. I also liked to try and figure out how things worked. I once took apart one of Uncle Dy’s clocks... then discovered I couldn’t put it back together. THAT got me in hot water. I also liked exploring, getting into all the nooks and crannies the adults ignored. When I was finally better, I kinda went nuts for sports. Running especially. Anything where I could just enjoy being able to move and run and stretch and push myself, without it hurting or having a coughing fit. Competitive sports I enjoyed too. 24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? Curiosity, incorrigibleness, and stubborness. 25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? I wasn’t a popular kid. In Gridania the other kids were nice, but I was too frail and sick to play with ‘em much, and half the time I was stuck inside, so... it made it hard to make any real friends, aside from Emily. And then, when I was cured and we moved back to Limsa, I had too much of an attitude, and it wasn’t the right sort of attitude, if you get my meaning. I was always picking fights with the bullies... half the time I’d get ground into the dirt, but I wouldn’t stop, until eventually they started avoiding me because I was too much trouble. 26. When and with whom was your first kiss? A 16 year old boy named Adrian, a hyuran son of a merchant. 27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity? Adrian... popped my cherry, if you get my meaning, later in the same year we had our first kiss. He was the first one to really try and get to know me, you know? And... and I guess... something in me was so lonely that it just overrode all my good sense. I followed him around like a lovesick puppy. But then... I overheard him and his mates talking. See, he had been set up to it... it was a kind of wager between them, to... ‘mellow me out’, I suppose. And a challenge because they didn’t think he could bed me. And they were discussing the best way for him to get rid of me, as I was ‘no longer of interest’. It broke my heart, to realize that... the one I had given myself to was not who I thought he was at all. And it broke his jaw, when I let him know how I felt. 28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. The only think supernatural about me is my stubborness. Show Content
Part 3: Past InfluencePart 3: Past Influences
29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? Losing my mother and father to Dalamud's fall. 30. Who has had the most influence on you? Currently Nel 31. What do you consider your greatest achievement? My smithing. I’m proud of my skill with the shield and the blade, but... I’m even more proud that I MADE that shield and blade. I know and trust the weapons and armor I make, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable in anything else. 32. What is your greatest regret? Allowing my father to go to Carteneau in my stead, and leaving Mom in Limsa where she... well, a lot of people didn’t survive that day. 33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done? There was this mad alchemist... thaumaturge... not sure what to call him, named Reilandles. This guy was a sick bastard, had cursed Nel as a child and made her slaughter her own family, and later on went back to wipe out Nel’s whole village with one of his experiments. He came back to mess with Nel again, and even had his sights on Ilyanna. I... we hunted him down and trapped him. We had him beat... he was disarmed and unconscious, but... he had been caught before. He was just too much of a threat. I... killed him in cold blood, and cut his head off, to make sure he would never threaten my family again. 34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind? No 35. When was the time you were the most frightened? During the fall of Dalamud, when we watched the lights from Menphina’s Breath... malms offshore, and we could still see the land burning, and hear the screams of that bloody dragon... it was the end of the world. We didn’t know if there was going to be anything to go back to, or if maybe Bahamut would come for us next. And there was nothing we could do. 36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? In my early adventuring days, I partnered up with a highlander named Claus. Big, strong... not the smartest, but he was a sweet guy, and loyal as anything. Best kind of guy to have at your back. Anyway, him and I were looking to find a linkshell to join, and were in Gridania to meet a representative of The Adventure League of Eorzea. What we didn’t know was, was they were having a ceremony to induct new Azabs - Potential members - into the linkshell. Well, like a complete doofus, when they started the ceremony, I thought this was for us, and I started to join in, until the guy we were there to meet told us this was for applicants who were already approved, and we were just there for an interview. I felt like such a dunce. 37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? Leaving Mom behind. 38. What is your best memory? The wedding to Nel. I mean, I’m not huge on ceremony and such, but sometimes... sometimes it makes something great all the sweeter. Everyone we knew and loved was there that day, and for just one day, everyone put aside their differences or petty squabbles, and was just happy for us, and celebrated our marriage. It was the best feeling. 39. What is your worst memory? You’d think it would be the day Dalamud fell, right? Well... except, it’s all muddied and jumbled now. I just remember lights and roaring and fear, and everyone huddled together. It’s BAD, but the worst? The worst is the day Silvia Wenn died. That memory is so crystal clear it hurts. We were starting out then, naiive, though we were indestructible. Then to have someone... who was the one we all figured would always be there just drop like that... not even in battle, she was on her way to Dragonhead for a campfire storytelling. Knowing she had fallen, she was hurt, desperately searching for her... then knowing that we were too late from the start. That she had been taken from us instantly, not by Garleans or beastmen or some villainy, but by random chance. Show Content
Part 4: Beliefs And OpinionsPart 4: Beliefs And Opinions
40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? I’m cynical, sure, but I like to think that... with enough effort and willpower, ANYTHING is possible. Maybe I believe that a little less after Carteneau, but... I try to hold onto it. 41. What is your greatest fear? To be sickly, weak and helpless again. 42. What are your religious views? I pray to Menphina mostly... that was who my Mom prayed to. I know that Menphina is more the patron of Keepers, but my Mom always told me that it was love that made everything that our family had accomplished possible, love that had saved her, and that was why she paid Menphina tribute. I guess that struck a chord with me. Not that I think Menphina, or any of the Twelve, will swoop down and fix my problems. My life is my own... the Twelve gave us free will, and that means the power to make our lives better... or worse... lies solely with us. The Twelve guide us, but intervening would destroy this land we love as surely as the Primals do. Louisiox said as much. 43. What are your political views? Politicians are cretins, each and every one. Ul’Dahn politics are the worst, with the Moneterists and Sultanists and everyone grinding each other into the dirt trying to climb to the top of a miserable pile of humanity. Not that Limsa is much better, being a bunch of pirates and all. Merlwyb is at least trying to reform them, but that’ll take decades, if not centuries. If I had to pick, I’d say Gridania’s politics are the least galling, even if the elezen there have their noses up so high they’d drown if it rained on them. 44. What are your views on sex? As long as all parties are having fun, and of consenting age, the more the better! 45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? If it’s in the middle of a battle, I don’t have any problem with killing. If you picked up a weapon, you accepted what comes with that, and I can’t risk the lives of my own party by holding back. If someone surrenders or runs, though, I’m not going to chase them down and murder them. There’s a line there... I’m not there to kill the helpless or the powerless, I’m there to protect them. There... was an exception, once. There might be again. I hope not. 46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do? To willfully harm a child for their own ends. 47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? Yes. 48. What do you believe makes a successful life? Still working on that... 49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? I wear my emotion on my sleeve, you might say. I don’t hold anything back, and I make my opinions known. Most times, the more level-headed members of the group are trying to get me to pipe down a bit. Still... I don’t like ever appear weak, or admitting to being weak. Admitting I need help, or that I’m afraid or unsure... is hard. 50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? I’m told I tend to judge people too quickly, and too harshly. 51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? I will not harm a child, or through inaction allow them to be harmed. I got robbed of my own childhood by illness, and I’m not going to let someone else tarnish or destroy someone else’s with abuse. 52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? My family. Ilyanna, Nel, Manari, Miya, Eva... wouldn’t even be a second thought about it. Show Content
Part 5: Relationships With OthersPart 5: Relationships With Others
53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? I tend to be a bit sarcastic and blunt, I guess. I try and be friendly, but some people just rub me the wrong way. Especially if they’re trying to get something from me. Even if I’m known someone for a long time, I don’t soften my words or opinions for them. 54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why? Ilyanna. She is my daughter, and currently the focus of my life. 55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? Dad, Eva, perhaps a few others. Dad because he represents the Paladin and soldier I aspire to be, and the source of my moral views. Eva because she represents the kind of woman I wish I could be... feminine, elegant, tall, poised. 56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people. Manari, Miya, Nanami, Nahu are all close friends. I don’t really have a best friend, however, as I lost them in the Calamity. 57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. Nel Celestine: My wife and the birth mother of Ilyanna. We both have the same drive and stubbornness, though Nel is the one with all the plans and ambition. I’m happy to just follow behind and support her. 58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. Aside from Nel... I THOUGHT I was in love with Adrian. I really did. Mebbe I was just lonely and desperate. I love Torvald too, but that’s different, I guess. There was something with Claus... it was one-sided though. He was in love with someone else, and made that clear. Still hurt though. 59. What do you look for in a potential lover? This has gotten a bit complex, y’know? Gods, isn’t that the cliche, that Seekers don’t care who they bed, man or woman? Still, I’ve got tastes. Girls... well, don’t tell Nel or she’ll thwump me. But miqo’te naturally are nice. But there’s still something compelling about elezen women. Something about the legs, and just wanting to CLIMB ‘em... *Ahem* As for guys, I prefer hyurans. Male miqo’te are cute and all, but they’re WAY too dramatic for me. A big strong highlander is nice... though there’s something to be said for a refined, noble midlander. Or a big, strong hyuran, wearing grease-covered overalls, looking like he just stepped out of the metalworks working on some new incredible device, snow white hair and bright eyes, taking a moment out of being the most wonderful genius in all of Eorzea to say a few admiring words to me... *Sigh* Oh Master Cid... 60. How close are you to your family? I was really close to my family before they died. Especially Dad. That’s why it’s so maddening that I struggle to remember any details about him at all. Everything about him keeps getting swallowed up by that white haze. 61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? I married Nel, and I adopted Nel’s daughter Ilyanna as my own. 62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? Before the Calamity, Eva without question. I also rely upon Manari or others from Menphina's Breath. 63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? I don’t trust anyone to protect me. Not even Nel. I’m the one who PROTECTS others. I’m the last line of defense. If I go down, then there’s no one else who’s going to be able to hold the line. People depend on me, people will die if I falter, so I gotta be that wall that won’t crumble. Maybe... maybe once I would have been okay behind Dad’s shield. If anyone could hold fast where I couldn’t, it would have been him. But now... I guess when you grow up, you think your parents are indestructible. It’s a hard thing to find out they’re not. 64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you? Nel, Manari, Ilyanna... a large number of people 65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why? Gaius van Baelsar. Darnus is dead, and he is the one who had the most power to prevent Meteor, and yet allowed it to happen. 66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? Why, do you wanna fight about it? 67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? I’m not a leadership-type. Not in social situations for sure. I mean, are we talking a dance here or something? I’ll be against the wall with my punch, unless Nel drags me out onto the floor. I let others do that stuff, lead the way and decide what needs to be done, so I can spend my time DOING it. But still, if the pumpkin cookies have hit the fan, I know enough to know when someone has to take charge, even if it’s just until the immediate crisis passes. I know my way around a battlefield, let’s just say. 68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? No. It's noisy and confusing, and in most cases you are more alone and isolated than if you're with a small, intimate group. 69. Do you care what others think of you? More than I care to let on Show Content
Part 6: Likes And DislikesPart 6: Likes And Dislikes
70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? Smithing, riding around on her chocobo, and exploring. I especially love neat old ruins, and wrecked Garlean machinery. 71. What is your most treasured possession? My wedding ring 72. What is your favorite color? Red. 73. What is your favorite food? Dodo steaks 74. What, if anything, do you like to read? I tend to have my head buried in technical manuals, crafting recipes, or anything I can beg, borrow or steal from the Garlonde Ironworks. Mmmm... Master Cid... *Sigh* 75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)? I enjoy a good dramatic story. Anything from a campfire story to a full on stage production, the more heroic the hero, and the more villanous the villain, the better. 76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? I have the occasional glass of hard cider or wine, but I’ve got no use for getting fall down drunk. Getting drunk, or otherwise impaired is a weakness, and the last thing I want to do is make myself weaker. 77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night? At the forge. 78. What makes you laugh? People genuinely being silly 79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you? Mistreating children, selfishness, etc 80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? Go down to the forge for a few hours 81. How do you deal with stress? Forge 82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? Plans are carefully plotted out steps to take in a given situation that are generally rendered useless before reaching step 2, so I forgo all the wasted time making them 83. What are your pet peeves? Being forced to sit out or miss a conflict. Show Content
Part 7: Self Images And Etc.Part 7: Self Images And Etc.
84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? Wake up, shower, get dressed, check mail, get breakfast, check for jobs at the guild/Maelstrom, meet Nel at the shop, check the orders, get to work at the forge. It's almost a relief when something snaps me out of this routine, and allows me to escape for a little bit. 85. What is your greatest strength as a person? Determination. I’m not the strongest, fastest, or best at anything. There are tougher tanks, better healers, better swordswomen, better smiths. At any given thing, I am keenly aware that someone is better than me. But I will never, EVER give up. 86. What is your greatest weakness? I guess I can’t pick my fights. I go in full throttle, even if it’s something I should probably just let slide. 87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? ... I'd like legs like Eva's, please 88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? Extroverted 89. Are you generally organized or messy? I had the answer to that somewhere... maybe under last night's dinner? Hmmm, perhaps under these papers... Lemme check in the bathroom... 90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at. Good at: Smithing Being a shield/defender Any sort of fighting Bad at: Diplomacy Weaving (YARN!) Apologizing 91. Do you like yourself? Before the Calamity? Yes. Now? No... no I don't. On a good day, maybe I can say I don't hate myself. 92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…) Originally, I went adventuring because my father told me to, as part of my training. I wanted to go directly into the Barracudas, but he told me I needed to go out and see the world, experience all it had to offer, before I decided my path. Now? It's an escape. Life feels... stifling now. My superiors at the Maelstrom mistrust and dislike me, the shop is a constant struggle to make ends meet, and each day is filled with work that can't afford to go undone. I can't be a vagabond anymore, I have to support my family, as my father and mother supported me. Being able to get out, to adventure again... it allows me to recapture that freedom, if just a little. A guilty pleasure. 93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? To clear my name with the Maelstrom, to remove the tarnish from my position and make them remember the name of Turuphant in my father's stead. 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In a bigger house? I don't know... I never really think that far ahead. Too much changes from day to day. 95. If you could choose, how would you want to die? On the battlefield, with my sword in my hand, my shield on my arm, knowing that my sacrifice made a difference. 96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. Make love to Nel Punch my CO at the Maelstrom Make love to Nel. Possibly on my CO's desk. 97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? I want to forge a sword that becomes legendary on its own. I want it to be sought after, and be used to accomplish great deeds, and for it to be remembered as the greatest work of a great smith 98. What three words best describe your personality? Determined Passionate Opinionated 99. What three words would others probably use to describe you? Stubborn Stubborn Stubborn 100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…) It's okay to trust, it's okay to be afraid. Sometimes, one has to spend some time being weak so they can be strong when it really counts. RE: 100 Questions to Ask About Your Role-Playing Character - Ryanti - 07-09-2013 Show Content

What is your earliest memory? "Standing in the living room, playing. Running around. Being hyper.. the images of my father and mother in the room with me... the only memory I ever have of being hyper." 17. How much schooling have you had? "All the best in private tutelage. Sacrifice your youth for obtaining the book knowledge of someone that be accused of witchcraft by the less educated if he stepped out of his house and said too much." 18. Did you enjoy school? "I did not at first. But as I grew.. I began to. I enjoyed the philosophy of what knowledge can do to man. To society as a whole. However, it stole my teen years. Just as my family name stole my childhood years." 19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities? "I learned them from myself, as I grew up with too much time on my hands. I learned all of my.. performing arts from being forced, however. Such is the woes of higher education for those gearing up for high society. All of my physical training was brought onto me from my destiny of following my father's footsteps in the military. That was a wake up call..." 20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. "My father.. he is everything I desired to be. Strong. Handsome. A leader. Someone who lifts the reigns of man on the same level as himself whenever he is around people. He set an example for everyone, including myself. Other then that.. I suppose the Allagans and the Garleans.. but I would get in trouble if I mentioned the ladder." 21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? "I did not see my father much.. he was always away.. when he would come back, it would always be those blissful few days for me, that kept me going. My mother.. we love each other. But... I can't relate to her. There is something there, whether it be her ears or tail or my own.. there is this, distance.. that keeps me from being nurtured by her." 22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? "An Allagan. I just wanted to be some sort of... higher being." 23. As a child, what were your favorite activities? "I remember fondly...I used to enjoy tending to the garden in the back yard. I remember vividly having to.. help my mother do it. I would sit there with the box of seeds as she planted them.. I remember punching through the air, trying to imitate what I saw in the city.. of the fighting men. But my kind of punching always ended up turning into some kind of meditative flowing movement.. I believe the only thing that.. I still do is stare out of my folding window. Every single night. Track the moon phase, track the stars.. track the men and women entering and leaving the city. Trying to remember them. Trying to simulate the ways of the world using only my head... those, were the good memories of my childhood, I suppose." 24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? "I.. was a lot more energetic. A lot more bold and a lot more fiery. I believed in everything and anything.. and I had faith." 25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? "Absolutely not, I was treated like waste. Like impure, which I am. My blood is dirty and I was treated as a dirty object would be in a world of pristine cleanliness. I had one friend, and he was like the only kind of possible influence that kept me from offing myself. Does that make sense? I don't know. He's dead. My parents were the only ones that treated me with any decency.. that told me they loved, and... gave me a sense of safety at home." 26. When and with whom was your first kiss? "I can't believe this.. people take such things for granted that they ask me questions like this as if it was the norm to have that experience already! Stop teasing me with things I may never have!" 27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity? "I said stop! Believe it or not, there is such a thing as individuals whom never had the privileged of being valued by somebody else enough to be touched!" 28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. "The influence of being sheltered for most of your life allowed me to observe the small things in life become the big things. From looking in the looking glass from the outside in, I see the world through different lenses. That different perspective in life influenced my behavior today and defines a large part of who I am on the outside." Part 3: Past Influences 29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? "The day.. I don't wish to talk about it, actually." 30. Who has had the most influence on you? "My father. He has painted everything in my life picture that I desire." 31. What do you consider your greatest achievement? "... I think, just... I don't know, really.. I don't think I have any.. really." 32. What is your greatest regret? "... Letting him go." 33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done? "I looked upon absolutely heinous acts with dead eyes and ears.. those kinds of things, they don't sensitize me anymore.. I grew up with them... my thoughts and my actions, sometimes.. I am very evil in many ways, really." 34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind? "No. I was a good boy." 35. When was the time you were the most frightened? "I.. can't remember. It was some years ago.. But just trying to think about it.. I don't want to. I really don't want to...I can't remember." 36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? "I was once stripped of my clothing, collared, and forced to bark for people lest they lash me dry.. being forced to act like an animal.. and the such. Far from the only time.. but probably the worst time." 37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? "That I was born a pure Hyur Midlander. So that my entire life could be rewritten. So that my life wouldn't have been such hell." 38. What is your best memory? "My first memories. When my dad was home and my mom was smiling and I was their golden boy.." 39. What is your worst memory? "I think of bad things, and ...I have a feeling that something very bad happened but.. I can't, I don't really know. If it was real or not.. or if I'm remembering it correctly.. I remember a face, that of an angel's.. that's all." Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions 40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? "Pessimistic.. but not by nature.. not by nature at all. It was forced on me.. and I'd rather see the greener side of the lot if I'm allowed to." 41. What is your greatest fear? "That I... am nothing. That my purpose on this world is.. nothing." 42. What are your religious views? "I believe that there are higher forces on this planet and I intend one day to be able to communicate to them on a high enough footing to be able to do so.. though I do not blindly worship any god and expect favors, or dance for them like puppets.. I expect them to come to me. I expect to EARN their favor.. and I shall strive to do so." 43. What are your political views? "I believe that progress is the natural evolution of a civilization. I believe that traditions need to evolve just as technology needs to. I believe that the smartest, and the strongest of civilization should be the leaders, and set an example for others to follow. I believe weakness and trying to uplift hopeless cases are a waste of time, and nature will kill them off. I believe in a government that will do what is right.. not what is ethical." 44. What are your views on sex? "I was raised where love and affection were commonly shared about friends. The value of the body is equal to the value of the mind. The element of lust follows me with women, and my thought often are eager to quickly jump to the female figure and imagining the taste of her lips.. but if.. if a moment were to come in my life where I would value someone immensely of my own gender.. so will I value their body." 45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? "Yes. I believe I would be. I am no.. peace loving individual. I will kill if it needs to be done. However, I am not a butcher. I will kill only if my soul compels me to. Killing is acceptable when it is either needed, or feels appropriate. One needs to not rely on the morals of society, but of themselves...and neither be afraid of.. or immediately resort to, killing." 46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do? "Hold themselves back. Refuse to change. Refuse to dream. Refuse to evolve. Refusing to spread their wings. To prevent society from raising itself. This is the most evil deed of men. Disguised as a virtue." 47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? "Yes. Absolutely yes. I believe that is the purest form of affection. Untainted by experiences or culture." 48. What do you believe makes a successful life? "If you feel as if you matter in the world. If you feel as if you have reached a pinnacle. If you feel as if that the reason you were born in this world was fulfilled. If you've lived up to your own expectations." 49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? "I am as honest as any man could be. That is one of my values. We are creatures of truth, and the indecent, horrific act of hiding our faces and moods and feelings from others is a silly elementary fallacy and needs to stop. We need to be honest with one another.. and we need to be open." 50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? "Men and women who refuse to evolve. Men and women whom's cultures refuse to evolve. It does not take a genius to be able to decipher that." 51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? "I am a man who consistently learns from his experience, and is ever evolving. Even if I were to tell you something I absolutely would not do, it would only count for right now in time. Later in life, I may have to do it, or even willingly do it for that matter. Therefore, I really cannot answer that. However.. do not expect me dancing a fool in the mud with face paint any time soon." 52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? "...I would die for progress. I would die to see my visions become reality. For others, not for myself, hence why I would die for it. Nothing would be happier in my book to die for that favor I wish to grant the world and it's people." Part 5: Relationships With Others 53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? "I treat others rather politely, and calmly. I am naturally curious of their personalities, and I tend to immediately try to form some kind of spiritual connection with them. I will be no stranger to their jests, or for that matter, being open and truthful. There is nothing holding me back. As time passes, and the connection becomes stronger, I become increasingly motivated to treat their very existence with value, and am sure to let them know it. I intend to treat them with wonderful experiences and become a permanent shoulder to cry on.." 54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why? "I.. don't really have any at this point.. my father is only but a distant picture at this point.." 55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? "I respect my father the most. Because of all that he's done and how he is such a happy and satisfied man despite the hardships he went through." 56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people. "Heh.. to have friends." 57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. "In a fantasy world, I may have one." 58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. "Expecting me to just simply describe love.. and to tell you whom I've loved, look, I'm not a simple person, okay? Love.. is just weird. It feels weird and it makes you do weird things. It's the best.. damn feeling in the world.. is that enough?" 59. What do you look for in a potential lover? "I look for the solution.. I know that's a vague statement. Let me see.. I look for everything I would find in the element of hope for 'humanity'.. I look for an individual whom values me.. views me as preciously in this world as I do they.. I look for an individual with a mentality above the populace and the ability to dream and dive in the waters of life with me head first without fear.. To be inspired by them as well as to inspire them as well, I suppose.. like two dancing souls entwined in flame." 60. How close are you to your family? "Pretty close, but it's not like I had a choice.. I had to depend on them. They were my only friends." 61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? "I.. I would want to, yeah.. when I'm older. But.. to ask me, why? ..I don't know if I'm old enough to think about that yet, umm.. because I want to be a dad some day, when I'm strong.. and less of a fool.. with a woman I'd love till the ends of the earth." 62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? "..I don't know. I have no one." 63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? "My father.. I just know he'd.. have to be there. Because he's a hero, right? So he'd be there.." 64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you? "..." 65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why? "There's no one person.. but I would say everyone in my childhood... and why? .. Do you remember the story about my barking?.. Add fifty more stories and there you go. Simple." 66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? "I tend to argue. I have a fiery soul still, and one that begs to be heard, even in the midst of people who believe me to be wrong. However.. I always end up awkwardly doing so.. I have this massive urge to shut up to avoid more hatred towards me.. I've had enough of that already." 67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? "Yes and no.. it depends on the atmosphere. I tend to lead when it comes to the elements of life I excel at.." 68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? "I am envious when it comes to large crowds.. because they all seem so happy and marvelous.. I tend to grow ever more shy, but.. I wish I like it. I don't like it. But I wish to. In a perfect world.." 69. Do you care what others think of you? "Yes... yes. My life is incomplete and.. empty, when I am alone. It is only through the appreciation of others that I stand tall with them. I do not trust my own judgement of myself.. even if it is positive." Part 6: Likes And Dislikes 70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? "I do enjoy the performing arts... when it comes to acting, and... dancing, and singing. Though I easily get embarrassed.. however, it tickles me to death, and I love it. I also love reading, and art in general.. the nightly walks and philosophy .. all of those elements combined makes up my passions in life." 71. What is your most treasured possession? "..My father's Couerl-Head Necklace that he passed down to me.. I do not wear it yet.. for I fear to be undeserving of it." 72. What is your favorite color? "Any shade of blue.." 73. What is your favorite food? "Marmot Steak." 74. What, if anything, do you like to read? "I dive deep into any kind of book involving the secrets of the past, a past in which we have yet to comprehend. The Allagan Empire.. anything about them, really. Anything about philosophy, or of.. predicting the future of society. Though as a young man I was also fascinated with.. fairy tales. And novels. I understand that these stories were written from the heart, unlike how people act to each other nowadays so.. I treat stories as a more pure form of expressing feelings." 75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)? "A well done, top-tier play. Beautiful music from around the world... Gorgeous paintings.. the finest wines.. dancing.. the such." 76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? "I drink a little bit more then people give me credit for.. I drink in order to get rid of my reasoning sometimes.. if you've been there, you would understand.. sometimes I need to say or do things that I couldn't without alcohol.. it's a shame that I need it, but.. I don't want to quit." 77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night? "Saturday? What's a Saturday? ..Every day was the same for me, for a long time. I was blessed enough to be able to attend plays and banquets, however.. those were fun." 78. What makes you laugh? "Anything witty. Anything that surprises me without threatening me." 79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you? "Barbarianism." 80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? "Light a candle, and treat myself to spilling my thoughts in ink." 81. How do you deal with stress? "I don't. The ways I've tried to deal with it aren't suitable for this interview." 82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? "When the emotions get the better of me.. I am spontaneous as all hell. But besides that, I always end up having a plan anyhow." 83. What are your pet peeves? "I absolutely despise lack of refinement. Filth. Dunces. Fools who are ignorant by choice and not by fault. Fools who do not think of consequences. Fools who have wronged me." Part 7: Self Images And Etc. 84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? "My normal day consists of waking up.. eating breakfast with the family, then piano practice.. by the mid day I am out and about and probably getting abused because of my blood. I drink my aftertoon tea back home while fibbing about the black eye and then it's dance recital, where no girls wants to hold my hand. By evening I fib about the other black eye and then it's dinner. Afterwords I am up for vocal practice. Which I had probably done earlier before while being punched in the face. Then I have the rest of the evening myself behind a locked door. Any break from this routine is fully welcomed, as I was thinking of actually speaking to my fluffy canopy bed the other day. If you detected satire in this, congratulations, but there's a lot of truth to this." 85. What is your greatest strength as a person? "I... see things from outside the looking glass, and dare to spread my wings.." 86. What is your greatest weakness? "..That what others have said about me in my past became who I define myself as." 87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? "..I would get rid of these ears and tail.. if I couldn't do that.. I would change the part of me that self-loaths over my past memories... then I could move on." 88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? "Intro-..Extro-.. I don't even know." 89. Are you generally organized or messy? "Organized." 90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at. "I am very good at soul-to-soul conversations. I am very good at beautifying. I am very good at expressing my feelings. I am very bad at coping with stress. I am very bad at moving on from past pains. I am very bad at being my father." 91. Do you like yourself? "..." 92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…) "My reasons involve only the past nineteen years of suffering that I experienced being sheltered. I want to see the world. I want to see and live in the world and be treated not like garbage or like a king, but like a PERSON. I want to see how people live. I want to see the horizon from somewhere else beside my damn home! I want to venture and I want to cross the roads that my ancestors did! I want to see everything! .. I want to improve life in all that I can and be the angel of healing to society! ...In public, I suppose it's easier to say.. that I do this because I want to." 93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? "I want to outdo my father.. and live up to the reputation of those brilliant individuals of a higher plane that walked this planet so long ago.. so that when I die, I may rest with them. Or better yet.. to learn from their mistakes.. and rise even higher! And pull all of humanity up with me!" 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? "I see myself.. no longer a stumbling lamb.. no longer brought down by the weight of his youth. I see myself on the field of war but unafraid and even still, untouched.." 95. If you could choose, how would you want to die? ".. I would want to die on the very floor of .. the result of my dreams coming true. I would want to die seeing.. my visions come to life.. I want to see them like how a father wants to see the face of his child right after its birth.. before I take my last breath.. I want to see that heaven, before I see any other." 96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. "If I knew I was going to die... I would.. I would tell everyone how much I loved.. despite whether or not they loved me.. I would write down the very elements of myself and my dreams for the world.. in hopes that someone would carry it on for me. And then I would end it before the 24 hours were over.. for there would be nothing left for me to do besides wait. I've done enough waiting in my life." 97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? ".. I would want to be remembered for.. blazing the way. Blazing the way for progress and for better lives for all of us. To set an example for everyone like my father did.. to be known as a man above men who inspired everyone to be all whom they could be.. a man worth mourning for when he died.. a man who deserved it." 98. What three words best describe your personality? "Ethereal. Visionary. Beacon." 99. What three words would others probably use to describe you? "Complicated. Conflicted. Heartly." 100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…) Listen to me.. Ryanti.. stop thinking about it. Stop thinking about how you're going to be happy. Stop thinking about what it's going to take. Stop thinking about trying to be like your father, or like the Allagans. Stop doing that. Stop thinking yourself as nothing and stop trying to be everything. Be.. you. The you, that you have in there, Ryanti, is immensely special and unique because of how your mind turned out to be. Use THAT. Be YOU. You have 'it' inside of you, you need to relax! Don't think too much about it! Just do! The beauty in yourself will come out of hiding if you just let it all go! RE: 100 Questions to Ask About Your Role-Playing Character - Merri - 07-09-2013 Show Content
Merri's 100.Part 1: The Basics
((Not so sure he'd answer half of these questions 100% truthfully, so who knows what is what? Oh wait, I do~)) 1.What is your full name? "Endemerrin Rosethorne. Most people just call me Merri." 2.Where and when were you born? "Ah, no comment. 19th sun of the 2nd Astral Moon, however~" 3.Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) "My mother passed when I was young and my father is a bastard. Needn't know much more than that.    ...Man, he was such an asshole." 4.Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? "Two. I haven't seen either since I was a child. There's a burnt bridge in there somewhere as well." 5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. "I wouldn't say I have a true home. I just go wherever the winds take me. Or wherever Xenedra is." 6.What is your occupation? "Adventurer. That's the short of it, anyways. I run an adventuring business, and I'm also a Magitek Engineer that works with the Garlond Ironworks." 7.Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. "Tall, well built, and handsome~   ..Hah. Nah, I'm just your average Sunseeker. Light brown hair, blue eyes, with a lovely scar over my right e- wait a second. Why am I telling you this? I mean, I'm right here." He waves a hand in front of his face. 8.To which social class do you belong? "Is "none" an acceptable answer? I mean, I have money. A lot of money, but..." 9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? "Well, I'm missing an arm. Technically." 10. Are you right- or left-handed? Endemerrin stares blankly for a moment. "Right handed. I mean, the other one just sort of comes off." He wiggles the fingers of his left hand before nonchalantly pulling his prosthetic's hand clear off. "See?" 11. What does your voice sound like? "Hey look, another one of those silly questions. Like thiiiis." 12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? "You'd probably get a better answer asking some one who talks to me frequently." 13. What do you have in your pockets? "A secret. No, really, it's a secret. Because you don't know, and I'm probably not going to tell you~" 14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? "I like to take things apart." He taps a finger against his forehead. "Engineer, remember~?" "Rorolumu taught me engineering, Fritz taught me the fine arts of the Monks, and Desolate Mountain shaped me into the Warrior I am today." 20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. "Rorolumu. He's short. And kind of abrasive until you get to know him." He pauses. "He set my pants on fire the other day...  ..it's cool, though! He's my best friend, hands down." 21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? "Well enough. Except for the asshole." 22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? "An adventurer. Surprise! Made my dream a reality~" 23. As a child, what were your favorite activities? "Exploring. He just starts to laugh. Heavily. 28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. Still a bit embarrassing in it's own right." 37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? "You know, they say that squashing so much as a single antling can drastically change the future. I like the way things have turned out, more or less. I don't think I'd change a thing." 38. Because." 55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? "Probably Rorolumu. He's always been there for me, almost as long as I can remember." 56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people. "Rorolumu. You already heard about him. Desolate Mountain is a Hellsguard Warrior that I trained with in the Farreach for a few years. Fritz..  ...rest in peace, my friend. He was a great man, and the strongest Monk I've ever seen. Xenedra, though that goes without saying. Gospel Gestalt, now he's a bit of a quiet man, but I like him. Good head on his shoulders. Inquisitive. He actually gets along with Rorolumu, too, which is pretty big in my books." 57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. "Spouse? Soon, I hope~" 58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. "Love is complicated." 59. What do you look for in a potential lover? "Honesty. Courage. Some one not faint of heart. Rorolumu and Desolate Mountain have long had my back. Xenedra as well." 64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you? "The aforementioned, most likely." 65.
