I think it's a lovely series and has completely accomplished what it was set out to do, which is bring people together. It's spanned not just the world wide but also through time, so you have kids now playing with parents who played when they were kids. It's simple, but engaging. You should look on the main X/Y site just because there are some pokemon that have/will be announced as a nintendo zone only obtainable and you don't wanna miss that when the event starts just because those pokemon might not be in the game.
Yeah, I know that there is a Torchic with the new evolution stone being given away. Which I am excited for! Because I missed the Speed Boost Blaziken download, and because Blaziken is a beast.

Heh. X/Y might actually be the games to get me back into the series. I lost interest back in the Diamond/Pearl era because a friend of mine went batshit psycho and stole my game. Deleted the file (which had at least 2 full 100s, full EV and all - one of them my favourite Pokemon, Espeon - not to mention all my Pokemon from my Ruby version that I tirelessly worked to transfer over and thensome) and claimed he bought a version himself.

I got SoulSilver, but I couldn't get very far before I wound up just giving up, having no drive whatsoever.

I have to say, though X and Y might be the boost to get me pumped for the series again. lol My little brother is set on getting X, so I figure I'll get Y. It'll be something to keep me occupied while I sit in the hospital with my mom this weekend during her surgery.

X Version here. Look at this beautiful stallion buck! He's like the Lady Gaga of Pokemon with his crazy disco-rainbow head and I love it.

I'm with Aleister mostly, I wanted to totally new experience, since this is going to be like a totally new game with all the new features and changes. I thoooought about sneaking a peak at the starter type's end evolutions or some of the version exclusives, but I didn't care when I was a kid. I'll deal with it now~

How many Pokémon are there now? I haven't played in years, but I have some very fond memories of playing Red/Blue/Yellow on my Gameboy back in school and at home when I was a kid. I'm sort of tempted to invest in a DS and the newest Pokémon games for the sake of sating my nostalgia.

Then for Y, there's this asshole. He will hug the SHIT out of you. Don't even try it. He's got three fucking arms to just hug you and pet you and call you George and if you don't like it, well, shit. As much as I do love hugs and tearing things apart, he just feels like 'Lugia but red and pointier'. I was really disappointed by this guy.

I think I will stick to my time-tested favourites: Espeon, Poliwrath, Blaziken, Absol, and it's been so long I forget the rest.

That's not a bad spread though. I'm just sad when people who haven't played since, say, Red and Blue, just go on and on about how awful the new Pokemon are and only the original 150 are good. I'm not really upset. More like... dejected. Because I hate the fact there are elitists in Pokemon of all things.

Okay I have just one problem with that.. when they started making pokemon that were god damn snowflakes,trash and people who died long ago. Only problem with pokemon now ( I don't mind Mega evolution being a ripoff of digimon).. Pokemon back in the day were frickin' based on animals and mythical creatures. :S Otherwise I have NO beef with pokemon atm.

I chose Y because.. It looks awesome and I'm not a fan of the purdy type pokemon.. Plus Luiga is AWESOME. Downside to Y is that they have a horsea relative that looks like it went out and did a TON of drugs. X for sure has better exclusive pokemon so far.. (Except the dragon charizard.. Looks dumb as heck... But its a dragon type.. Charizard got what he should have had since the beginning.) 

Btw. Everyone in here getting X and Y... We need to drag friend codes and just add each other and run into each other in the game and just have fun newbie battles. Big Grin Inbox me with your friend codes.

Forever remains my favorite pokemon. I haven't found another to replace it's cuteness.

And that's why the 'Pokemon designs are getting worse' argument is dumb. There were always inanimate objects, or non-objects in muk's case. Some are good, some are bad, as it has always been.

I admit I hated the dorky looking Ice Cream Pokemon too, until I got stuck with it. After playing with him for a while he grew on me. Even 'bad' designs have their own charm.
