I was never a big lightning fan. It's a bit sickening to think that she's in the game aside from just about any other character.
Though if I had to choose one specifically I'd personally like to see Cecil involved somehow when I start doing my Paladin job quests. Always consider him the traditional paladin.

I suppose it really depends how they do it. Cameos are fine in special content and whatnot for events and stuff but i don't see a need to cross over anything from previous games. The fun of Final Fantasy is supposed to be about many different worlds and stories with just a few common themes wrapping them together. When you start bringing in characters from other games it just makes giant confusing plot holes of doom.
If they want to promote a new game with some sort of special event sure that could be fun but making them part of the game would just be weird.

I'd probably want characters that fit a bit better into this universe.
Maybe Kain and Rydia (Since we have Dragoons and Summoners)
But I'd be lying if I said I didn't want Cloud/Aerith gear.

Really, a Gau in this game wouldn't go amiss. After all, you'd have to find him first...And if you don't want him around, well, don't bother looking for him. :>

The FFIX cast, all of them. Vivi and Freyja come first though
Maybe a few chars from FFX such as Lulu and Auron.
I'd also like it if main villains from the FF series (Chaos, EX-Death, Golbez, Cloud of Darkness, Ultimecia...) would appear as boss battles, that would be awesome!

I just hope that they avoid simply adding the 'popular' characters as what is popular is not necessarily decent. The better compromise would be for the cameos to encompass as many different characters as possible. Especially since there's a lot of us out there who loathe the main characters in FF games but love the rest of the group and even many enemy characters!
I just hope they remember that there's other games and characters outside of FFXIII and FFVII!
