RE: The Sultansworn RP Guide - Warren Castille - 09-20-2014 Important to note, also, that roleplaying as a Free Paladin doesn't mean you are a Sultansworn. Free Paladins are independent but expected to uphold the same virtues and ideals as 'Sworn, but we're allowed to work as we see fit despite that. Field Agents, sort of, and reservists, kind of, but not really actually Sworn. I like to think of them as the Private Investigators to the Sultansworn's Police force. We're both out to stop crime, but only one has the resources and authority to really do it. RE: The Sultansworn RP Guide - Erik Mynhier - 09-21-2014 Well said Warren. On another thought. How would we go about recreating this: ![]() I cannot seem to find anything that resembles these items, but I am terrible at finding items so thought I would throw it. RE: The Sultansworn RP Guide - Sounsyy - 09-21-2014 So the Sultansworn Squire set is: Cotton Tabard, Cobalt Vambraces, Cobalt Sollerets dyed blue. However, if I remember correctly, the Cotton Tabard doesn't come out right? Like the wrong part of the armor gets dyed or something weird like that? I vaguely remember someone trying to make this set work a few months back. But those are the pieces if you wish to attempt for yourself. ^^ RE: The Sultansworn RP Guide - Kage - 09-21-2014 iirc the cobalt sollerets would have the "wrong" parts dyed. The metal parts are blue themselves-ish so the dye wouldn't make the metal silver look. RE: The Sultansworn RP Guide - Aldotsk - 09-25-2014 Someone through the game asked me if it is even possible to be a Sultansworn while being a Maelstrom/Twin Adder soldier, and I really didn't give him a straight answer because I felt like that's really the matter of changing alliance to becoming one with Ul'dah instead. You can't really be Immortal Flame and you work for Yellowjacket... Well, I don't think you can. Or Maelstrom soldier working for Brass Blade (but then again, you -could-). But would you be under Sultansworn as a spy for Limsa or just as a diplomatical position to grow the alliance between two nations? That was rather a question. But I think it'd be interesting for a person to become a Maelstrom and become Sultansworn, by protecting both the Limsa and Sultana. lol... but I just said I'll ask in RPC and here I am. RE: The Sultansworn RP Guide - Warren Castille - 09-25-2014 With absolutely no basis in lore, here is my opinion: While it isn't quite the same, the real world comparison would be for someone to be Secret Service while also serving as active duty in the Army. Hell, it would be like having dual-citizenship and being Secret Service and being a part of Canada's army. It would be difficult to even approach that as a career, just geographically. Fast-travel via crystal is something of debate at times, but I just don't see how someone could be a part of the Adventurer's side of the Maelstrom/Adders while also being sworn to protecting the Sultana at all times. There aren't any part-time Sworn, that's what Free Paladins are for. For my money, it would be very difficult to justify someone tasked with guarding Ul'dah's ruler also being on the payroll for another country's military. Unfortunately, our payrolls been cut off because Natalie's constant property damages in the city and out of the city. We had to pay it off as an "insurance compensation". If you are Adder ooc, thats one thing, but if its IC, then absolutely not. In my mind, the Sworn are closest to related to the Specialist Operations under the Metropolitan Police of London. There is no way some man or woman who were serving in a foreign military would be allowed to be part of Royalty Protection or even Specialist Protection. For an overview of what I mean read this. I feel this is the best real life model we could use to provide maximum creative freedom while still providing limitations to keep us in "special snowflake" check. I highly recommend all Sworn RPers read up on the London Metro's Protection Command. I still am butthurt from the fact that I can't wear anything else cool like MNK/DRGs wear, but wear only armors. All those Gryphonskin armors were there for LNCs too, but now they are only limited to PUG/MNKs. *sighs* |
