RE: London Fanfest Premium Stream Information (second hand notes) - TheWizard - 10-25-2014 I know that the game needs more tank classes but the spirit of self-sacrifice often found in Dark Knights doesn't really seem to fit the idea of a tank but maybe they will work around that. I guess I'm mostly disappointed because I prefer either healing or DPSing so DRK being a tank basically destroys end game for the class for me. Was really looking forward to being a DPSing wielder of darkness. SE please let me have Mystic Knight and if you are going to make it a tank please make it awesome. Why can't our bladed class, ROG/NIN aside, be DPS instead of tank? I guess that's what off-tanking is for... RE: London Fanfest Premium Stream Information (second hand notes) - Foxling - 10-25-2014 We have more than enough DPS classes for now. And with every new one more people flock to those classes to try them out. Which is fine, people like to try the new things out and all, but you're not going to get very far if the constant tank players don't get something new to play with every once in a while. Got to give them something to keep them around after all, a little more variety to play around with, something with a potentially more engaging combo. Maybe. RE: London Fanfest Premium Stream Information (second hand notes) - Seriphyn - 10-25-2014 Well, IDK about playing some brooding emo, but two-handed swords are great. I'll just have Kale as a greatsword wielder without the DRK nonsense...too bad there's no base class to identify with for RP purposes. Does this mean its part of an existing class or not, in which case does it have only 5 skills? Or is this a hint/sign that they are doing away with classes and just going pure job. I am very excited to know the answer to this. Or at least understand what they mean. RE: London Fanfest Premium Stream Information (second hand notes) - ProvaDiServo - 10-25-2014 I wonder how many Nightmares and Seigfried we are gonna get, Or maybe artorias.... RE: London Fanfest Premium Stream Information (second hand notes) - Lost River - 10-25-2014 Maybe Dark Knight is the base class and a job that hasn't been revealed is there. Ooor, maybe its all stand alone. And you can be a dark knight ICly without too much of a stretch of the imagination; Thaumaturge who uses melee as a focus and channels their aether through that instead of casting spells, they augment their fighting abilities. It is possible. Ooor, maybe its all stand alone. They made it very clear that Dark Knight is a new job. And from the sounds of it, or at least through the wording involved, it's just a straight up job you can pick up at the start of Havensward. What was interesting is that they mentioned a code being involved. I don't know whether that'll literally be the expansion's code or whether it'll be an additional code involved though. Maybe a livestream viewer heard that part a little clearer. RE: London Fanfest Premium Stream Information (second hand notes) - FreelanceWizard - 10-25-2014 I wonder if this is part of their statement that they were going to be playing around a bit with the job and class parts of the Armoury system. Perhaps the soul crystal is what activates the job, which itself starts from level 1? The expansion access is what gives you that soul crystal, unlocking the job for you. True enough, but I'm still a bit gitty at the prospect that the job has no class, does that mean I can slap it on any class? If not what about all the skills and traits one gets from a class? RE: London Fanfest Premium Stream Information (second hand notes) - Parvacake - 10-25-2014 Update: Apparently the Q&A panel didn't have much stuff in it, they did reveal that they want to release job specific limit breaks to 3.0 RE: London Fanfest Premium Stream Information (second hand notes) - Marisa - 10-25-2014 I'm thinking the new jobs are going to require you to have completed your 2.0 story on another class, and will start at lvl50. My basis for this theory is that new classes are awful to level after your first 1 or 2 (regardless of the difficulty, spamming dungeons and leves is nobody's idea of fun) and SE knows that. I think they're going to skip that entirely. When Koji said all you'd need to do is install the expansion, keep in mind he was talking to a room full of hardcore fans. There wasn't a single person in that room who wasn't already max level. Context. RE: London Fanfest Premium Stream Information (second hand notes) - Zyrusticae - 10-25-2014 DRK is a job and also its own base class. They're just doing away with base classes entirely, it seems. There were several people there who'd never played the game before, they were literally just there to keep a player company throughout the day. Personally I don't kind levelling from 1 to 50, especially on a tank. But that's just me. And need I remind everyone that SE was the company that thought grinding FATEs with a stupidly low atma drop rate was a good idea? And then they made players grind again for something else.
