Well they!! Aren't!!! ... what they were like before! My hillbilly American ass thought it sounded vaguely Scottish. Just Raubahn's though. idk what's up with Ilberd's, but it's way worse compared to the awesome performance we got in A Realm Reborn's finale.

What accent is it supposed to be?

I've always used the Japanese voices to match the aesthetic.

Regarding the names - I ran into an "Aymeric" at work today or yesterday and was surprised to see it was an actual French name. May have been the far right politician.

As much as I like Gideon Emery I feel like he's a tad overused. He's not necessarily worth the money, either, I feel. He's a great voice actor, sure - but the 'big names' are no doubt very expensive. I feel like the current batch of voice actors are just as immersive and I'd hazard a guess that they're better value for money too.

Plus I've sort of been soured by Gideon voicing too many elves across a number of games. He has a very distinct voice, too, so I can't help but think of Balthier whenever I hear him speak.

They generally do a pretty good job at using french names, albeit most of the time, not standard run of the mill ones. Either more medieval ones, and especially celtish inspired names from Brittany.

Aymeric has german roots though.

I like most of them, but then there's a few that just... Hurt to listen to. Merlwyb being the biggest example for me.

I think myself, and everyone else here shares your same anger.

If I recall, even with the new voice, Kan-E-Senna still sounds terrible. >.<

I don't share that anger...

She might underwhelming compared to the old one (probably the only good one in 2.0), but i'm okay with it, the new performance is decent to me.

Aymeric's VA put in an outstanding performance for this patch. His speech was stirring and his conviction and warmth were apparent through the entire thing. He sounded like a general and a patriot.

Agreed Aymeric's VA is amazing I love him. I could listen to him read a phonebook.

I'm not a huge fan of Minfilia and Alphinaud's voices, it took me a long time to digest Minfilia, and I still wince every time Alphinaud opens his mouth. His voice just strikes me as far too deep/refined for his teenage appearance - srry Alphie.

I for one find Aymeric voice really... out of place. He sounds (and looks) more like a posterboy model with vaguely (and annoyingly) sexual overtones to me. 

Not especially the charisma I would expect of a commander. 

Don't get me wrong though, I don't find it bad. I think the dubbing is quite good, just not always fitting at all. But I think that's more the character that is not fitting to his role than anything else.
