Part 1: The Basics 1.What is your full name? Beatric Fyril Reid, Fyril was a small attempt at my parent's trying to connect the family to whatever semblance of traditionalism left in the family (hint, there is none) and it happens to mean "Lost". No Joke. 2.Where and when were you born? My age is none of your concern, (You'd be surprised what one could do with the information on one's birth date) but I was born in Uldah, same as a lot of folk. 3.Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) ...Why? I thought this was a personal interview. Leave family matters out of it. 4.Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? Shifts in her seat, opting to lean forward and fold her hands before the interviewer. I am the only kin who survived the womb. I murdered them on the way out. As in the stories, there are three sisters of Odin; now there is only one. 5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. She peeks her head around her shoulder. These are awfully personal. I really do wonder what you'd do with any kind of information on my residence. Are you going to be sending me a pamphlet of your religious journey? 6.What is your occupation? She leans back in her seat. It's... complicated? I've spent a hand full of my years in Gridania working as a forest guide for those who required it, but the real money comes in with studying people, documenting social climates, recording and dissecting belief systems. 7.Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. Tall, as one might expect when concerning the Roegadyn race, short grey hair, eyes blazing of fire, molten lava dripping from my tongue, fingertips smoldering, a radiant corona that surrounds my head, and never would you actually see my feet touch the ground. 8.To which social class do you belong? She seems to be peering at the interviewer, not so much listening to the latest question, but closely studying their facial features as they speak... Hm? 9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? I am a perfect specimen of physical health. 10. Are you right- or left-handed? I tend the handle things with my toes, when at all possible. 11. What does your voice sound like? Sometimes it's like flowers blooming in your ears and others my voice booms like the crack of thunder! 12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? 'T's an odd question to ask, mate. 13. What do you have in your pockets? She rifles through her pockets, pulling out some small pouches of some thin, white powder that gives way to the incredible odor that seems to follow her, along with stones, a writing quill, a handful of coins, a small notebook that looks very much used, a chain full of what looks like various critter claws, dirt, and a small collection of empty nut shells. Once her pockets were emptied, she gestures to the interviewer. 14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? I have been told that I have a tendency to stretch the truth a smidgen. I wouldn't go as far to actually believe them, though. Part 2: Growing Up 15. How would you describe your childhood in general? Average? Parent did what needed to be done to survive, tried to make the best life for her children, and as with most children, I didn't really appreciate it until I came outside of the little bubble created for us and dealt with the real world. 16. What is your earliest memory? Making friends with some marmots that made their way into the city. Marmots aren't friends, they're food. Silly me. 17. How much schooling have you had? Enough to make my hypothesis not just drift off into infinity. 18. Did you enjoy school? It might surprise you to know that I typically don't take kind to people telling me what to do. It's one of the better parts of getting into an independent line of work. 19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities? Where most tend to, through the vengeful ghosts of our ancestors. 20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. I remember being in the market when I was very young when I came across this man, obviously had some travel in him, you see. He wore the garbs, his viable skin was blackened, not from the pigment but from the sheer amount of soot, and the way he stood as he was getting his things suggested that he was in great need of some rest. But, when he was asked by the person selling him his wares where he was headed, that tired face lit up with great enthusiasm and he ended up rambling for some time about his next adventure. I never saw his face again. I suspect he died doing what he loved. 21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? Nothing to really note there. We were civil, but just about everything was done at arms reach. 22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Someone who made enough money to live comfortably. 23. As a child, what were your favorite activities? I don't suppose it'll surprise you when I say "watch people", will it? 24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? I... suspect ones that aren't too far off from the ones I exhibit now, aye? 25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? She slaps her palms down on to her lap, Oh I was so popular. All the boys wanted my hand and all the girls wanted my friendship. 26. When and with whom was your first kiss? To that lowly, ash covered traveler. He came back and whisked me away from the mediocrity of being a young girl, you see. We lived happily ever after, had lots of children... Until work was scarce and so was the food; we were forced to eat the children. 27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity? I'll have you know that it's none of your concern. A lady never kisses and tells and I don't fancy myself a lady of the evening. 28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. ...What? Part 3: Past Influences 29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? Possibly when I survived the giant fireball hitting the land, and the war... I've also recently cooked my first omelet; that's important. 30. Who has had the most influence on you? The ones who pay, I'd gather. 31. What do you consider your greatest achievement? D'oho! Wouldn't to be so keen to know? I'll share my findings eventually and not a moment sooner, lest my arrow find an uncomfortable place to rest within you. 32. What is your greatest regret? ...Agreeing to this interview. 33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done? "Evil" is a social construct and depends solely on the person who views it. What one might view as evil, others might view as right for the time. Perhaps I've stepped on one too many bugs in my lifetime? Spilled too much ale? Or maybe some might find issue with all the crime...? 34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind? I have no idea why you'd think such things. 35. When was the time you were the most frightened? When dealing with things beyond your previous comprehension, there's never a time when you're not afraid. 36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? Haha, well, there was this one time I decided to take on a job as a forest guide, despite not knowing the area in the slightest. She exhales, letting out a few more laughs. 37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? I'd dare you to find a person who lives without regret. But, the details of my own fallings aren't particularly important. 38. What is your best memory? She begins to drum her fingers on the table before her. What's yours? It's this interview, isn't it? Yeeeeah, I knew it. 39. What is your worst memory? Tilts her head to the side, opting to stare off into some unknown object until the interviewer went to the next question. Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions 40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? I shape reality as I see fit! Your notions of subjective viewpoints are petty. 41. What is your greatest fear? Her face darkens, Slipping off into nothingness; to be forgotten completely with time. 42. What are your religious views? None? Though deities are very interesting to study, and it's quite understandable why the vast majority of the people go to them for aid. If you were told that all of your dreams could come true with just a single word... Well, it's understandable. 43. What are your political views? Don't rightly give a damn. 44. What are your views on sex? It's an interesting step in a relationship, that's honestly almost essential to making things work for any reasonable amount of time. Get naked and rub genitals. It's odd. 45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? I do what needs to be done, when it needs to be done. But, it won't stop me from expressing my disgust afterwards. 46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do? Continue on the same path that we've been on. 47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? It's a fantasy made up for couples to feel more justified in their relationship. 48. What do you believe makes a successful life? Unearthing a long dead civilization. 49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? Well, given that you've already asked me a fair amount of questions about myself, wouldn't it be your job to figure that out? 50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? People are people, despite their race or sex, everyone acts the same down at their core. 51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? I refuse to act in the manner I have been told reasonable individuals act. It garners no new information, and is, frankly, boring. 52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? She drums her fingers on the side of her face a few times while giving a small smile. Part 5: Relationships With Others 53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? It's a case by case basis. I treat people the way that they need to be treated, not the way they want to be treated. 54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why? All people are important, in their own way. 55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? She offers a shrug. 56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people. The people of Misericorde, I suppose. The things we've been through is near impossible to go through without creating some kind of lasting bond. 57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. All hail Ramuh, my Lord and Savior. Your lightning bolts cause nothing but chaos and ruin for all those before you. Your black robes twinkle like stars, if stars were black. You are my light. 58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. Bats her hand a few times. 59. What do you look for in a potential lover? Living, breathing, humanoid in appearance. 60. How close are you to your family? I could have sworn we already covered something like this already. 61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? Me, have children? She bursts out laughing on the spot. 62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? Why, are you planning something? 63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? She pauses for a moment, ...The Tower protects when he is near. 64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you? I... rightly don't know? 65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why? Hating someone is just wasted energy. 66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? I'm a flexible sort of woman. 67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? Honestly, I prefer to take the sidelines and let other, more capable people do what they do. 68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? If by "interact" you mean "study from afar", then yes. 69. Do you care what others think of you? Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? I don't mind a small drink every now and again. Honestly, people who are prone to overindulgence are disgusting. 77. The same things I do when I'm normally awake, I'd imagine. 81. How do you deal with stress? Keep myself busy in other people's affairs, reading, making music... 82. Part 7: Self Images And Etc. 84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? It varies from day to day. It's very hard to actually find a "normal" day anymore. 85. What is your greatest strength as a person? How affective my throat punch is. 86. What is your greatest weakness? ...Probably my inability to view people correctly. 87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I wouldn't change a thing. 88. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…) She opens her mouth to begin answering the first question and quickly closes it at the second, following it up with a long laugh. 93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? Too many to note, though some might be coming into fruition soon. 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I... don't? Mum's got a few ilms on me so I'll blame my father for that. 's probably why K'aworu is so short too. Ah, I don't eat enough sometimes, so I'm a bit on the skinny side. And compared to most ladies I am.. smaller. I usually make my own clothes, because I know how I like to wear them. I don't like armour, it's really heavy and I can't move very well in it. "I do like listening to music, but I like to listen to people talk more." 76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? "I drink, because I like it and it helps me sleep. Why would I quit?" 77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night? "There are no such thing as typical nights anymore. I used to just like working on some weaving, or fishing, or sitting with Selene and the others." 78. What makes you laugh? "Funny things. Ah, specifically? Other people laughing makes me laugh sometimes too." 79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you? "The usual. Rape, abuse, murder, all those terrible things. Come on.." 80. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? "Spontaneous." 83. What are your pet peeves? "Being expected to respect someone who has not earned it, being forced to do things.. Those are pretty normal pet peeves though aye?" Part 7: Self Images And Etc. 84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? "A normal day.. let's say before I started taking my hunting trips to Iron Lake. Before I moved to Limsa Lominsa, even. So I guess this'd be an ideal normal day, not just a normal day. I'd wake up wherever I'd camped the night before out in Thanalan. I'd have breakfast. Probably fruit, or nuts. I can usually find those pretty easy. I'd head back to Ul'dah for a leve, or I'd go work on my map. Fish for lunch, hopefully not crayfish. I still catch those a lot in Thanalan. I don't like them. Maybe I'd run into a friend in the afternoon, or I'd practice my weaving, or another leve so I could buy bread to have with my dinner. Some evenings I'd end up on an adventure in some deep abandoned ruin I'd never been to before with others. Some I'd end up at the Concern. Others the carptenter's guild to visit the kids. Wherever I felt like going. I'd sleep under the stars, or in the mouth of a cave. These suns I don't have such a routine, so you tell me how I'm handling it being disrupted.." 85. What is your greatest strength as a person? "I think I'm a good friend to people who give me a chance." 86. What is your greatest weakness? "I don't have much patience." 87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? "I'd like to be a bit taller.." 88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? "Introverted." 89. Are you generally organized or messy? "Some'd call me messy, but I took care of my things." 90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at. "I'm good at shooting my bow, listening, and dancing. I'm not good at cooking, nor navigating, nor dealing with.. things." 91. Do you like yourself? "Sometimes." 92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…) "I like the freedom and the thrill. I like to go where I want to go when I want to go there. I like to see new things and make my own way. And I'm not sure, I've never been asked before." 93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? "I rather want to help win this war this time around." 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? "Funny thing about five years.." 95. If you could choose, how would you want to die? "I already chose once, this time I will let the Spinner decide, as she apparently has different plans for me." 96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. "I didn't drink, I didn't go find company for the evening, I didn't cry.. I had dinner, slept rather well, and sent my chocobo away." 97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? "I'd just like to be remembered at all." 98. What three words best describe your personality? "Didn't we already cover somethin' like this? Maybe not. Well.. honest, stubborn, and.. a bit simple." 99. What three words would others probably use to describe you? "I've heard a few of 'em. They're the kind of words mum doesn't like me to use." 100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…) Smile more. You're not really as miserable as you appear. So smile! Whew! x_o RE: 100 Questions to Ask About Your Role-Playing Character - Tyriont - 07-11-2013 This was a really fun experiment! Show Content
Tyriont Gaidal
1.What is your full name? "Captain Tyriont Gaidal, pirate extraordinaire and leader of the Phoenix Pirates.  Widely regarded as the most dashingly handsome rogue in all of La Noscea." 2.Where and when were you born? "I was born in Limsa Lominsa.  As for when...well, that would give away part of the mystery now, wouldn't it?" 3.Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) "My Father is Donovaine Gaidal, a travelling troubadour.  My Mother is a scholar from Ul'Dah, Mirielle Reinard.  They met while Dad was passing through and he won her over with the wit, charm, good looks and general overwhelming charisma that he passed on to his son."  4.Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? "No siblings, but I do have a cousin on my Mother's side - Croix.  He serves as the First Mate on my ship and I'll freely admit that I'd be lost without him.  He has a much better head for the details than I do." 5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. "Wherever the wind takes me, love.  We have a few safehouses in Limsa though, which is also where I keep my personal home.  More times than not though, I'm on board the Phoenix Flame along with the rest of the crew.  You'll meet them soon enough if you stick around...for now though, take a look over by the bad there.  The mass of muscle making that poor stool earn its keep and downing whiskey like water?  That's my Quartermaster and oldest friend, Wandering Lion.  Never a dull moment with him around, partly since he's so bloody loud." 6.What is your occupation? "Why, pirate of course!  I should be clear though - we're picky about our targets.  Only steal from those who can afford it or deserve the loss.  We're bloody generous with the poor folks around Limsa too.  We might not be the most successful crew around, but we've got the love of the people." 7.Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. "Well, I assume you want something more than astonishingly handsome?  Pretty average height for an Elezen.  Shoulder-length dark hair, blue eyes.  As you can see, I have the tanned, toned physique of someone who spends a lot of time at sea.  Oh, it's alright.  Feel free to look, I understand.  I prefer loose-fitting shirts, something that lets me feel the breeze.  I've got more than my share of scars, but not a lot in very visible places...maybe you'll get to see those as the evening goes on, eh?  I also wear an eyepatch fairly often.  Not that I need it, I just like the way it looks.  Besides, gives me an edge in a fight if people think I can't see out of that eye." 8.To which social class do you belong? "Let's see..."scum of the earth", "dirty pirate rat" and "worthless thief" are some of the more common ones I've been stuck with.  No time for the concerns of nobles, not me.  Well...unless I've blagged my way into a party and I'm flirting with those high class types while lifting their necklaces." 9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? "I'm completely disease free, I assure you.  Why, have you heard something?" 10. Are you right- or left-handed? "Right-handed." 11. What does your voice sound like? "Like smooth caramel for your ears, love.  Charming, well-spoken for a pirate...although thinking about it, I'm not sure if that one was meant to be a compliment."  12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? "Bloody, by the Twelve, Of course I can make that jump.  Another pretty common one is 'I have a foot long tongue and can breathe through my ears'.  If you know what I mean." 13. What do you have in your pockets? "Right now?  Compass, gil for drinks and a scrap of paper to write down names and room numbers.  That's about it, I prefer to travel light for the most part." 14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? "According to my crew, I'm a bit -too- fond of the drink and far too much a sucker for a pretty face.  I've also got a frustrating tendency to, ah...fall off things.  My balance isn't the best." Part 2: Growing Up 15. How would you describe your childhood in general? "It's not too descriptive, but happy?  We traveled a lot, what with Dad being a bard and Mum always wanting to dash off to find some new rumored artifact.  Wouldn't have changed it for the world, I got to meet no end of people.  Has meant I'm not too happy settling in one place for long though." 16. What is your earliest memory? "Music.  I don't remember much about where I heard it, but I remember the sound of Dad's fiddle.  That's really all I need." 17. How much schooling have you had? "Official schooling?  None.  We moved around too much.  But Mum taught me to read and write, while Dad taught me music, poetry and song.  Everything else I picked up as life went on." 18. Did you enjoy school? "Heh, in so far as it can be called school I suppose." 19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities? "Well, like I said, my musical ability came from Dad.  My other abilities were learned from necessity and finding mentors.  I learned basic carpentry while we were in Gridania, which comes in handy for ship repairs.  Sewing in Ul'Dah, for repairing sails...things like that.  I'll admit, I'm an amateur at most of it - that's why I have crewmembers who handle it properly.  But I like to learn a little of everything.  Keeps me sharp." 20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. "Mainly my Dad.  The way he could light up a room, his love of visiting new places...he's still an inspiration to this day." 21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? "It was just the two of us, so pretty well.  We were close-knit.  Still are, really.  I do still consider some of the other performers and scholars who traveled with us as family though.  Some of them had kids who are in my crew now." 22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? "An explorer.  I really didn't care what I did as long as I wasn't tied in one place for too long." 23. As a child, what were your favorite activities? "Music.  I wanted to learn every single instrument I could get my grubby little hands on, even if I'm still terrible at more than a few of them.  Beyond that, I loved sitting around a crowded pub while Dad performed, either reading through a book with my Mum or just watching the people." 24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? "I was outgoing and curious.  Wanted to explore every nook and cranny of everywhere we went.  I'm sure I drove more than a few people we ran into nuts." 25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? "Yeah, I reckon so.  Moving around so much I didn't get to make many fast friends but there were always a few I was sure to find whenever we were in a particular place.  The two that really stick out I already told you about - Croix and Wandering Lion.  Croix traveled with us along with my Aunt from time to time.  Serious kid, grew up into a pretty serious man.  Lion, he lived in Limsa and we passed through a lot.  Me and him got into no end of trouble.  I remember this one time, we found this merchant stall that sold...well, I'm in polite company so let's just call them "Ladies' underthings".  They had this area out back where the customers could try things on, right?  We figured out a way to sneak in and swipe their clothes so they'd have to chase us around, everything on display.  By the Twelve, we got our hides handed to us for that one.  'course, when Dad found out he took me and bought me a pie in celebration..." 26. When and with whom was your first kiss? "It sounds bad, but I really don't remember her name.  Remember the kiss though.  I was fourteen, we were in Gridania and I met this pretty little Hyur girl during one of Dad's performances.  Worked my magic and we were back behind the chocobo stables before too long.  Never did see her again afterwards...always wondered what happened to her." 27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity? Ty wipes tears from his eyes, still chuckling.  "Oh, I'm sorry...were you serious?  Of course I'm not.  As for when and who...well, I might be a rogue but I'm still a gentleman in some ways and I wouldn't kiss and tell.  All I'll say is that I was sixteen and everyone's first time should be with someone that...enthusiastic." 28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. "We've already talked about how my parents influenced me.  But I'm sure by now you're wondering why I became a pirate.  I was inspired by the lifestyle - sailing the wide open seas, that's the freedom I was looking for.  Not bound to any nation, no cares but the safety and happiness of my crew.  I've got the greatest family in all of Eorzea now." Part 3: Past Influences 29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? "Obtaining the Phoenix Flame, by far.  What good is a pirate without a ship, after all?  How I came by it, that's a story for another time". 30. Who has had the most influence on you? "Definitely my Dad.  He instilled in me a love of music, fine liquor and finer women." 31. What do you consider your greatest achievement? "It sorta ties in with your earlier question, but building the Phoenix Pirates.  I couldn't be prouder of my crew and wouldn't sail with anyone else". 32. What is your greatest regret? "I made a terrible mistake once in bringing the wrong person into my crew.  Twisted kind of guy...he's obsessed with finding eternal life through alchemy.  Wouldn't be a bad thing but his methods are...well, less said about him the better.  He's still around somewhere, probably in Ul'dah." 33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done? "Depends on your definition of evil, doesn't it?  I'm sure the people I've stolen from think I'm the worst thing since the Calamity...but those without a roof over their head or food in their bellies might beg to differ". 34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind? "Have you not been paying attention?  Pirate!  I understand, though.  I'm quite distracting." 35. When was the time you were the most frightened? "When I realized what Denavial - that's the guy I mentioned earlier - was capable of.  I saw some of the things on his shelf in his private...laboratory, I guess you'd call it?  When I realized what was in my crew, I was sick to my stomach and terrified for my crew's safety". 36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? "Waking up passed out drunk, stark-bollock naked in front of the Coral Tower.  Still no clue how I wound up there, or where my clothes went". 37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? "I hate to be repetitive, but meeting Denavial.  If I could avoid having ever brought him into our lives, we'd all be better off". 38. What is your best memory? "The first time we ever left port aboard the Flame.  Knowing that we'd made it, that the seas were ours for the taking...there's no feeling like it." 39. What is your worst memory? "Pretty much covered that one under biggest regret, didn't we now?" Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions 40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? "Eternal optimist, much as Croix wishes I was more realistic sometimes.  I'll keep bashing my head against something until I break through.  That said, is a cynical optimist a thing?  Because I'm a right snarky git." 41. What is your greatest fear? "Being stuck in one place for the rest of my life.  Never able to leave, never able to see anything new...that's the worst thing I can think of." 42. What are your religious views? "I leave the Gods alone, they leave me alone.  I'm usually careful to pay respects to Llmlayen before setting sail though." 43. What are your political views? "Politics is for people with too much damn time and money on their hands.  My only interest is making sure I know which laws I'm breaking and what will happen if I get caught". 44. What are your views on sex? "Sex is fantastic!  In all seriousness though, it's the best way to make a connection with someone.  As long as everyone understands what the situation is, I say have fun!  There's way too much in this world to not sample as much of it as possible." 45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? "Absolutely, but only when I need to.  You harm my crew, I end you.  That's all there is to it." 46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do? "Restrict someone's freedom just for the hell of it.  Don't get me wrong, I reckon there's some who need to be kept away from the rest of the world...but just kill 'em.  Don't keep them in some little cell for the rest of their lives.  End it quick, that's what I say." 47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? "Nice idea, but no.  Way too many people in the world to have just one person you're meant to be with.  Like I said, variety is the way of life!  Love is definitely real though, but the idea that you can only feel it for one person is crazy." 48. What do you believe makes a successful life? "Depends on how you define success.  Knowledge?  Money?  Power?  For me, it's freedom.  As long as you can go where you want, when you want then what else do you need?" 49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? "Usually pretty honest, unless I'm needing to run a con on someone.  But that's pretty rare.  I'm a heart on my sleeve type of guy.  Too much effort to be held back, aye?" 50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? "None that are undeserved.  If you're rich and you got there on the backs of others who are rotting in the gutters while you're sipping fancy, poncey wine?  Screw you." 51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? "Yeah, I won't ever steal from someone who can't afford it.  The poor go through enough already, they don't need someone nicking what little they have left." 52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? "My crew.  Without them, I'm nothing.  We live and die for each other, it's the only way to stay alive out there." Part 5: Relationships With Others 53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? "I like to think I'm friendly.  It's one of the things I learnt from Dad.  That said, being in my line of work there's a certain barrier you've got to keep up when first meeting people.  The longer we know each other, the more that comes down". 54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why? "No one person, but my entire crew.  Already explained why...we're family." 55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? "Again, my crew.  Each of them for different reasons, but still.  Beyond that, my parents." 56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people. "I'm sorry, I'm giving terribly boring answers.  But again, my crew.  It'd take forever to describe them, but we've got all kinds.  Elezen, Hyur, Lalafell, Miqo'te, Roegadyn...tall, short, large, thin, loud, quiet...but as for my best friend, that's the guy I pointed you to earlier.  Wandering Lion.  Known each other since we were kids, my first crew member and my dearest friend." 57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. "Gods, no." 58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. "Ah, well...that's a more interesting question, isn't it?  Several times, as it happens.  As for what happened, it's the same story each time usually.  I'm never in once place for long, so we meet up when I'm in town and we cross paths...but in the end, they look for someone more stable.  But there's never hard feelings and I'm always happy to help any of them in any way I can." 59. What do you look for in a potential lover? "First off, they have to understand what I am.  I'm not settling down and starting a family.  Second, is there something new they can teach me - or that I can teach them?  That's really all there needs to be, other than the obvious parts like attraction." 60. How close are you to your family? "Very close.  They still travel and I try to cross paths as often as possible.  We have a dedicated linkshell to stay in touch." 61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? "Absolutely not.  My lifestyle isn't one a kid should be involved in, ever." 62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? "Again, my crew.  Failing that, assuming we're -all- in desperate need of help then I have allies in each city I can turn to in a time of need.  People who owe favors, that kind of thing." 63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? "Crew.  Next." 64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you? "You're not really getting this, are you?  Crew.  Next!" 65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why? "Denavial.  He betrayed my trust, which is something I'll never forgive." 66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? "Depends on the person, but I do find myself in arguments a fair bit.  I'm not often willing to back down, is the problem.  Bit of a flaw perhaps, but I think it just shows conviction." 67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? "Being a Captain, I tend to find myself in those roles a lot.  Comes naturally to me nowadays." 68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? "Love it, comes from growing up how I did.  I love a stage.  There's something about making a whole room of people smile, dance and sing that's incomparable to anything else." 69. Do you care what others think of you? "Only my crew and my family.  Everyone else be damned." Part 6: Likes And Dislikes 70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? "Drinking!  Especially in a place with plenty of pretty women.  Beyond that, I love a good book, especially one I can learn something from.  And while you might not think it based on what we've talked about so far, I'm not too bad at chess." 71. What is your most treasured possession? "My fiddle.  It was a gift from my parents when I turned twelve and I've kept it in shape ever since.  Beyond the freedom that we talked about, I can't imagine life without music either." 72. What is your favorite color? "I'm quite fond of red.  A bold, striking color that really stands out.  I think it suits me." 73. What is your favorite food? "Fried fish is a particular favorite of mine.  Beyond that, there are some really excellent curries around the Ul'Dah area." 74. What, if anything, do you like to read? "Something informative, especially history books.  If there's a book that discusses some legendary artifact that was lost, let me know and I'll set out to find the thing." 75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)? "Good music with good people.  Nothing brings people together like song and dance." 76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? "Oh, frequently.  I love a good rum, it's relaxing.  I smoke as well, for much the same reasons.  Life's far too short to not enjoy the finer things in it.  The Calamity should have taught people that." 77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night? "No such thing as a typical one, if I'm doing it right.  That said, I'll often try to find a pub if it's a night I can expect a lot of people around." 78. What makes you laugh? "I'm quite fond of physical comedy.  If you ask me, everything can be made funnier by throwing a pie at someone." 79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you? "We covered this a little earlier if I remember, but the way that the powerful stomp all over those they rely on.  It disgusts me." 80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? "Drink until I pass out!" 81. How do you deal with stress? "Drink until I pass out!" 82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? "Drink until I...oh, sorry.  I got into a pattern there.  Spontaneous, definitely.  Which doesn't always work out...there's been a fair few times Croix has had to reel me back in and make me think things through before rushing off.  He's great at that." 83. What are your pet peeves? "A poorly maintained instrument drives me insane.  Why someone wouldn't care for something that brings so much joy is beyond me." Part 7: Self Images And Etc. 84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? "Again, no such thing as a normal day - if I've slipped into one, anything that breaks that routine is welcomed with open arms." 85. What is your greatest strength as a person? "Other than my wit, charm and general charisma?  I have an ability to bring people together that's proved quite useful.  I can get along with most people, as long as they're worth getting along with." 86. What is your greatest weakness? "To hear Croix talk, pretty women.  We've gotten into more than a few troubles because I was suckered in by a ravishing beauty who needed help." 87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? "Nothing at all!  I'm basically perfect." 88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? "I'd think that you can answer that yourself by now.  Clearly an extrovert, I love an audience!" 89. Are you generally organized or messy? "Organization takes far too much time.  I'm more of a 'grab it and go' type of man." 90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at. "Let's see...well, I'm an excellent fiddle player if I say so myself.  I'm also a fairly decent cook.  As for a third thing...look, it sounds self-absorbed and maybe it is, but I'm a fantastic lover.  Sounds cliched, but it's true.  As for bad...well, we spoke before about my balance being fairly terrible...I've dropped into the drink from the rigging more than once.  And completely sober, before you say anything.  I'm also a horrible artist, can't draw more than a stick figure and even then it looks more like a stick massacre.  A third thing...well, I'm going to go back to being very bad at resisting a pretty face. 91. Do you like yourself? "Of course, who wouldn't like me?" 92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…) "Freedom.  Exploring, finding lost treasures and helping, ah...'redistribute the wealth'.  If I can leave the world a better place than I found it while having fun along the way, I've done myself proud." 93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? "Simply to keep living the way I am now.  That's all I want." 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? "Anywhere I've never been before." 95. If you could choose, how would you want to die? "In such a way that future bards sing of it.  Dying peacefully in bed sounds horribly boring." 96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. I only really see her when she finds me, as she travels a lot. 5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. I wear my hair up, and trim it flat across the top, um... Oh, and it's brown. My eyes are a dark brownish green. I have only really one visible scar, and that's along my jawline here. *He motions over his jaw* It's from a burn. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? Not popular, I don't think, but I played with the few boys in the village before I got my first sword. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. *He sighs* Until recently I was in a relationship with Abaigeal Causland, and I was pretty head over heels for this girl. She's a Highlander with short fiery russett hair, and a fiery personality to match. She was cheerful, aloof, and... exactly what I needed. 58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. Twice. The first time it was more of a crush that got physical, that got complicated, and the second... We were happy, I thought, until we had what I didn't think was anything but a minor disagreement, and she up and left. 59. What do you look for in a potential lover? I don't really look, I stumble upon, but I guess a loyal, fun, and compassionate woman. 60. How close are you to your family? I haven't seen my mother in many cycles, but I've heard she is doing well. I'm geographically close to my sister, but emotionally, we're on different planes. 61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? I would like to, but it hasn't been in the cards, so to speak. So no, I have not. 62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? Mtoto, but she's not been well recently. 63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? I would say Mtoto Wamoto again, but I'm not sure if she's as close to me as I am to her anymore. 64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you? *He scoffs* I'm not sure there would be anyone. 65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why? A man who always seems to rear his ugly head and get in the way of things, while simultaneously acting like a delinquent criminal. 66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? I suppose I tend to avoid conflict. 67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? Aye, I do. 68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? It depends on the type of large group. A disciplined unit, yes. A gathering of motley fools? Not exactly. 69. Do you care what others think of you? I do not, usually. Only some select few do I value the opinions of. Part 6: Likes And Dislikes 70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? I always feel some comfort in resorting to training to pass the hours. 71. What is your most treasured possession? ... A sizable broadsword gifted to me by someone dear to me. 72. What is your favorite color? Emerald. 73. What is your favorite food? Baked bread hailing from Ishgard. 74. What, if anything, do you like to read? I don't read often. 75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)? A performing bard, dancers... something I can sit back and enjoy. 76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? I drink socially, and it's not a problem. 77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night? Working at home, /on/ my home. 78. What makes you laugh? Joking with friends. 79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you? Abhorrent behavior to the tune of murderers, and those that betray their friends. 80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? I would train, most likely. 81. How do you deal with stress? ...I train. *He chuckles* 82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? I like to have a plan, but there are always things you cannot plan for down the road. I can be spontaneous when I plan to be. *He smirks* 83. What are your pet peeves? Silliness when it's not warranted. Part 7: Self Images And Etc. 84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? I wake, and travel to Ul'dah or Limsa Lominsa to work a few hours with one of the guilds, after which I might return home or to another area of Eorzea to do the opposite of what I just worked on, When night falls I might stop in at Tavern Soliloquy, or I might head home and work on the property before retiring for the night. 85. What is your greatest strength as a person? My greatest strength is that I will go to great lengths to pursue a favorable outcome for everyone involved when solving problems. 86. What is your greatest weakness? My greatest weakness... maybe my stubbornness. 87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would make my hair less unruly. 88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? It depends, but introverted, generally. 89. Are you generally organized or messy? I'm pretty organized. 90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at. I am very good with a sword, white magic, and all things metal. *He chuckles* I am very bad with a bow, at silly social gatherings, and adequately expressing my feelings. 91. Do you like yourself? I do...? 92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…) Well, I came here to make a difference in the world, though I'm not as aloof as what I'd consider to be an 'Adventurer'. I guess my real reasons at this point, is that it's all I know, all I'm good at, and... it makes money. 93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? I want to make a family. 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In a similar place, albeit somewhat less lonely. 95. If you could choose, how would you want to die? With a shield in my hand protecting someone I love, in a way that makes a difference. 96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. Find a certain someone and get some closure. 97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? My compassion and need to always do what's right. 98. What three words best describe your personality? Stubborn, Strong, Reliable. 99. What three words would others probably use to describe you? Uptight, Stubborn, Reliable. 100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? You should not be so quick to decide on the right course of action. Think about the consequences of your actions, and how they affect those around you. RE: 100 Questions to Ask About Your Role-Playing Character - Zyrusticae - 07-12-2013 Five thousand words. Part 1: The Basics1.What is your full name?
T'ranu Ihka. Nice to meetcha! 2.Where and when were you born?    Um, I don't actually know where I was born, but I do know I was born on the 18th of the fifth Astral Moon in the year 1550 of the sixth Astral Era. Boy, what a mouthful! I really need to come up with a short form for this! 3.Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)    Mother, T'korra Kihri, was a great warrior, fierce and unbending. Of course, that's just another way of saying she was a massive pain in the ass, but I try not to dishonor her memory so. She did care for us greatly - she just had an unusual way of showing it. Father, T'Ihka Nunh, on the other hand, was a carpenter. Very simple, plain man, but very wise. I'm... not actually sure how he retained Nunh status. He was probably a great fighter too, in the past - maybe a pugilist? But he never told me about it for some reason. I think he gave up on it after he had enough children. Smart, come to think of it - you don't need to keep Nunh status after you've had all the children you want, right? 4.Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? As far as direct siblings go, there were three of us! Emphasis on "were". They... were taken by the Calamity. But that's not what the question was, right? Right! So, first off, I had a little brother. His name was T'rohn Tia, and he was a quirky fellow. Very fascinated with Garlean magitek, and he had a knack for it, too. As for how he got his hands on Garlean technology in the first place? Well... some things are best left unsaid. And it's all in the past, anyway. So I also had an older sister, T'runa Ihka. I gather you're starting to pick up on the naming convention? Heh. Anyway, me and my older sister were pretty much rivals... all the way up until the point where I left home to see the world. We competed with each other in everything. Of course this meant we were on each other's cases a lot of the time, but it was still loads of fun. I'm going to miss her... But, before I forget, I should mention that I also had a bunch of half-siblings, mostly on my father's side. Kind of typical for Seekers, y'know? I didn't spend as much time with them as my blood-siblings, however. That's just how things ended up. 5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. Um, well, I'm a kind of a... a vagabond, y'see. And that's by choice, too! I move around a lot, 'cause I wanna see the world, y'know? I travel alone at the moment, but who knows how long that'll last? 6.What is your occupation? Well... I used to travel and hunt and fish for my own food, but ever since the Calamity, things have... changed. Things happened, and I decided to become a warrior. One of the best decisions I ever made! I get paid, and I still get to travel and see the world, and every day is always so exciting! Yeah, even the days where nothing really happens and I'm just playing bodyguard for someone! There's always so many new people to meet and chat with! 7.Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.    Well, um, I'm like, 4'8", kind of embarrassing... but it's inherited, see, 'cause my mother was a shortie too, right? But I've got some pretty sweet muscles! (flexes) All a part of my training! Although... I think my boobs kind of shrunk in the process. Not that anyone cares about that, right? Oh, and I weigh at about 134 ponz. Pretty crazy for a girl, yeah? Of course I'm a Sun Seeker, you already knew that from the name (I hope)! I've got dark black hair, dark brown eyes, I wear plenty of plate, 'cause I am a warrior, and I have these three neat birth marks on my cheek and the bridge of my nose. Yeah, that's right, they're not scars! Who in the world gets three scars in perfectly symmetrical positions like that anyway? 8.To which social class do you belong?    Well, I'm a soldier now, so I guess whatever class soldiers belong to? I used to be poor, though. Really poor. Like 'hunt my own food' poor. I mentioned that, didn't I? 9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?    Hehe. I'm actually one of the really lucky ones! I'm not allergic to anything, and my, what do they call it? My immune system, yeah, that's it, it's pretty strong, too! Like if my immune system were an army, it'd be up there with the three Grand Companies, full of spirit and healthy, well-armed soldiers! Or something like that. And of course I'm a spectacular warrior, so nope, no weaknesses here! 10. Are you right- or left-handed?    I'm a righty! 11. What does your voice sound like?    I've heard it described as kind of... scratchy? Something like that, anyway. It's kind of in the middle-high range as far as females go. 12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?   "Yo!" Also, "y'know", "you see", "yeah", "right?", annnd so on. 13. What do you have in your pockets?    This is a weird question. You know, I don't really have much in my pockets right now besides my potions, come to think of it. A bit of travel food and a couple canteens... hmm, yeah. 14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?    I'm kind of excitable, I guess? Also, I tend to run my mouth off given the chance. Am I doing that now? I hope not. I don't want to scare anyone away! Besides that? People say I act kind of boyish sometimes. I don't really know what that means, though! And nobody can ever really explain it to me, either. I guess it's one of those "you know it when ya see it" kinda things. Show Content
Part 2: Growing Up15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
It was loads of fun! Some hard times, true, but I can't say I've lived a hard life. That'd be insulting to the people who've really had it bad. We lived in a small town where everybody knew each other, and that's the way we liked it. 16. What is your earliest memory?    Hmmm, that's pretty far back. I guess it's that one time mother helped me after I fell from a tree and scraped my knee when I was four? I THINK I was four at the time... this is hard! At any rate, nothing before that I can recall. 17. How much schooling have you had?    A pretty decent amount. I can read and write, and I'm not ignorant of Eorzean history or anything. Actually, that history is what got me interested in traveling the world! It's surprising just how much you can get out of something as simple as an old ruin. I don't mean treasure, by the way. I should mention that, since we were a small town, we only had a couple teachers and a really small building to serve as the "school". 18. Did you enjoy school?    Sure, it was fun! Although it could have been better, I suppose. There were lots of things the teachers couldn't answer, and it's not because they were uneducated or anything. A bunch of the other kids were way too easily distracted, too. 19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?    This is a silly question! I learn everything over time, like everyone else. Some things I learned in school, some things at home, and other things... elsewhere. Like my warrior skills - a lot of it I picked up from my time with the Marauders' guild in Limsa Lominsa. 20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.    My mother, of course! She was such a badass. And terrifying. I'd love to be as terrifying as her one day. Well, as long as I don't scare off any potential mates, that is. It's lonely at the top, isn't it? 21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?    I think I said this before. Mother... was kind of cold, but I knew she loved us. Father was the bigger influence, I think. He loved to tell stories. I never did ask where he picked those up - some of them must have been from his own experience, come to think of it. And of course I got along well with my siblings, though me and T'runa did fight a lot. It was never really malicious, though. At least, I don't think it was... 22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?    A historian! An explorer! An adventurer! I wanted to see the world. And I did! I saw a lot of it! But still, there were a lot of places I could never go because it was just too dangerous, so I'm hoping I'll get to see those places now that I'm a warrior! 23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?    Oh, so many of those! I'd read old books (one of the teachers kept a nice library for us), I'd climb trees and buildings and we'd play with the other kids and father would tell me stories an' it was just endless fun! And work, too, of course, but the question was about my favorite stuff, right? 24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?    I was definitely very curious and energetic - wait, come to think of it, I haven't really changed much, have I? Anyway, I was never really big on conflict - I was more into friendly competition, like with my sister - so I was kind of mellow, too, at least compared some of the other kids that liked to pick fights and stuff. 25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?    Hmmm... I guess I was kind of popular, now that you mention it. I think that's because I helped defend people from bullies a couple times. That wasn't so much fun, though... always so much tension. 'Fraid I don't really remember much of my friends, either - since I left when I was 16, I haven't seen any of them for 11 years now. Wow. 26. When and with whom was your first kiss?    (face immediately flushes red) U-um... can I skip this one? Y-yeah, I'll skip this one... 27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?    Another silly question! I've never heard of a Miqo'te in her 20s still a virgin - although if there is, I'd sure like to meet her! Anyway, I'm not so sure I wanna share the details here... it's kind of... personal? Not that I'm a prude or anything, y'know, just... ehhh... 28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human(oid), describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.   It was the Calamity. The Calamity convinced me the world needs heroes, plus, um, I kind of needed something to help keep my mind off of... everyone. Everyone I lost. I don't like to dwell on it much, you know? Gotta keep moving forward. So that's how it is nowadays. Show Content
Part 3: Past Influences
29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? Â Â Â When I finally decided to strike out on my own! There's no way anything else can compare. Living out there on my lonesome, taking care of myself, not being able to depend on anyone else... there's just nothing else like it. 30. Who has had the most influence on you? Â Â Â That's a tough one. I guess it'd have to be my father by default? He's the one who convinced me to go travel the world, after all! I'll never forget him... 31. What do you consider your greatest achievement? Â Â Â The very first time I took down my own big game! It was frightening, to say the least. I had no experience whatsoever, but I won out in the end! The meat was delicious, too. 32. What is your greatest regret? Â Â Â ...Never did come back to meet my family again before the Calamity struck. I always wonder how much had changed since I left. Now I'll never know. 33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done? Â Â Â Hah... I'm not gonna lie, I've stolen a few things here and there. Robbed a few people. I guess the most evil would be this one time I robbed the client of this cute Keeper boy. See, the client was really wealthy and powerful, and he was LOADED with gil. Unfortunately, he also had a good memory, and the Keeper boy was the last thing he saw, so I *kind of* ended up making him a fugitive in the process. Still, by the time the authorities went out to find him, he was long gone anyway, and so was I. Not too shabby in the grand scheme of things. 34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind? Â Â Â Heh, well, nobody's caught me yet, so I would say 'no'! But as for whether or not I've been involved in crimes, well... 35. When was the time you were the most frightened? Â Â Â When the Calamity struck! It was the most terrifying time of my life, and I bet for everyone else who lived through it, too. I was most certain that "this is the end". Good thing I was wrong, aye? 36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? Â Â Â I once streaked through a town naked after I lost a bet. Though it was the most embarrassing thing I've ever done, it was also kind of... exhilarating? Am I... am I a pervert? 37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? Â Â Â To have visited my family before the Calamity struck, naturally. Just that one thing... 38. What is your best memory? Â Â Â Wow, that's, um, a little too intimate for me to talk about. Sorry! 39. What is your worst memory? Â Â Â ...When I found out that my family died during the Calamity. Nothing else could possibly compare. I still... kind of choke up a little, when I recall it. But still, I'm not going to break down in tears in front of you or anything! Show Content
Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions
40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?    Um... kind of neither? What's the word for in-between... "realistic"? I mean there are some bad people out there doing bad things, and sometimes things just don't go your way... but at the same time, there's a lot to love about life, you know? I guess I prefer optimism, but not when it gets in the way of proper self-preservation. You need to be at least a little afraid of things - or show proper respect - to stay alive, right? 41. What is your greatest fear?    Nothing anymore. I kind of... lost my fear, after the Calamity. Nothing can ever compare to that event. Except another calamity, of course. Gods forbid such a thing ever comes to pass! 42. What are your religious views?    What's there to discuss? The Twelve are out there, watching us... but for whatever reason their reach is limited in Eorzea. It's okay, I'm sure they have their circumstances! Still, it's such a shame that they couldn't stop Bahamut's rampage... 43. What are your political views?    Aw, man, I hate this topic! You know how everyone gets all heated and everything when they talk about this? I can't do that - I'm just not that invested. I mean, hey, I travel the world all the time - as far as I'm concerned, all of Eorzea, if not all of Hydaelyn, is my homeland! 44. What are your views on sex?    It's fun! But, uh, after the first child, well, I've become kind of paranoid about contraception. I really, really don't want to go through that again. Funny, come to think of it, I don't really look like the type to be a mother, do I? But that's why the child's being taken care of someone else... Anyway, as long as you take responsibility, you can do whatever you want as far as I'm concerned. Just, um, be careful, right? 45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?    Well, I can, and I have, but we're probably thinking about two different things here. I primarily kill for sustenance, y'know, for food, right? When it comes to people I prefer not to kill if it's possible, but as a warrior, that can be kind of difficult to manage... And when it comes to a life-or-death situation, I'd rather live, y'know? That's really what it comes down to. When self-preservation is at stake, you just have to do what you have to do. 46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?    This is too difficult to answer... I think the worst thing any single individual can do is completely ignore the suffering and ailing of others. Of course, this means intentionally harming someone falls under this banner. There are degrees here, naturally, and the most evil would be at the very largest scale of someone having loads of money and opportunity and actively using it to suppress others - which is why I am really not a fan of The Syndicate and prefer to stay out of Ul'dah if at all possible. Massacre and genocide is about as bad, but you have to consider that the oppressed will suffer for their entire lifetimes while someone who's dead is no longer suffering... 47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?    Ahahaha! What a ridiculous concept. I think only naive children can really believe in this. 48. What do you believe makes a successful life?    Hmmm. When you're happy with what you're doing, and you make others happy in the process. Something like that. 49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?    Well, this is a tough one! I guess I would say I try to keep a good face, but I'm not afraid to be honest when the situation calls for it. And I try not to force myself to do things I'd really rather not do. 50. Do you have any biases or prejudices?    I'm not gonna lie, I don't really understand the people who stay in one place while complaining about how terrible that place is. If you really don't like it so much, why don't you just move out? I had no trouble with that, and I didn't even have a gil on me when I left. I guess you just can't do much when you don't have the skills, huh? 51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?    Well, I won't steal from the poor. Should be obvious why. I also won't give to the poor, however. I mean, I'm not exactly rich myself, right? Plus, it's like that saying goes - "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Also, I won't betray people for gil. I hate that kind of attitude. Makes you... less than human, really. 52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?    I, uh... um. I guess I would die if I could undo the Calamity, but come on, as if that's ever going to happen! Show Content
Part 5: Relationships With Others
53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?    I tend to keep people at arm's length. For their own safety, really. I mean, I move around so much, it'd be bad for someone to really get attached to me when they won't see me for months at a time, right? Plus, after the Calamity happened, well... 54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?    At the moment? I suppose that would be my child. She's really the only family I have left, after the Calamity. I... kind of feel bad about leaving her with the father, but I still come back and see her every so often. 55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?    I, uh... wow. This is a tough question. I can't really just pick one person, you know? In fact, I'd really rather not. Pass. 56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.    I don't really have many friends. I move around so much that I haven't had a chance to really make those kinds of connections, y'know? 57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person.    I suppose it would have to be the father of my child, but we're not really a couple. And come on, Seeker society doesn't believe in monogamy anyway! 58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.    Nope! It's kind of an alien emotion to me. I mean, there's people I love, but being IN love? I don't know how that works! 59. What do you look for in a potential lover?    I guess it'd have to be someone I can travel with and who's okay with all my faults. I don't want anything special, really - I have no illusions of some star-crossed lover or anything like that. 60. How close are you to your family?    This... this is kind of a tactless question. Have you been paying attention at all? 61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?    Well, I haven't really... I have one little girl, and that's about it. She's an adorable little thing - she has my eyes but the father's beautiful blonde hair, and she's absolutely chock-full of energy! I think she'll grow up to be a fine young woman. 62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?    I, uh... well, damn. I don't really have an answer to this question, haha. I should go fix that. 63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?    Certainly not mercenaries! They always go for whoever is the highest bidder. It'd have to be someone who's infatuated with me, and there are plenty of those to go around! 64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you?    I suppose my little girl would. Maybe her father, too, but I don't get the impression he cares for me that much. That might just be because I move around so much, tho. 65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why?    Bahamut. Who else? Guy's an asshole. Killing so many people just because he was angry. 66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?    How about 'neither'? I try to settle things peacably. 67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?    What? Hell no! I'm a loner by nature. There's no way that'd work out. 68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?    Yeah, this isn't really my thing, either. It's just so... chaotic. 69. Do you care what others think of you?    Not particularly. I mean, I prefer to be respected if nothing else, but I'm not going out of my way to please someone who's displeased with me. Show Content
Part 6: Likes And Dislikes
70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?    Fishing. Fishing is nice and relaxing. And the catch can be sooo tasty when prepared right. 71. What is your most treasured possession?    Hmmm, probably the compass my father gave me when I left home for the first time. Without that, I'd probably have perished! 72. What is your favorite color?    Orange! Especially the vibrant hues. They're so striking! 73. What is your favorite food?    Ooohhh, that's a tough one. I think I like properly prepared beef jerky the most. It's expensive to prepare if you like it seasoned like I do, but it's absolutely worth it! It can keep for weeks at a time, too, which is great for a traveler like me. 74. What, if anything, do you like to read?    Hm, why not everything? I like to read everything. Even the bad stuff can be informative sometimes, in the way of teaching you what NOT to do in writing. Hehe. 75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)?    Books are great, and I love good music too. I've never seen a play for myself, but I also love comedy! Sculpture is pretty great, too - it's amazing what people can do with a chisel and some stone. 76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?    Not really. I just can't afford it, honestly. I don't make much money and these things all cost money. Also, I've heard nasty things about people who smoke a lot. 77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?    "Saturday"? I, uh... what? 78. What makes you laugh?    Oh? You know, there's not an easy way to answer this. Humor is just one of those things... you either get it or you don't. That said, a good comedian is always nice - especially the ones that can point out the absurd in the mundane! 79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you?    The divide between the rich and the poor always offends me. Why does money give people so much power? It makes no sense to me. 80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?    Masturbate. ...Was that too blunt? 81. How do you deal with stress?    I laugh. It's a terrible habit. 82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?    Both. A plan is nice, but you have to be able to react to changing situations, too. 83. What are your pet peeves?    People obsessing over money. Show Content
Part 7: Self Images And Etc.
84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?    Well, let's see... I wake up, do a bit of grooming, and then figure out what I'm gonna do for meals that day. The rest depends on whether I'm in the city or in the wilds. If I'm in the city, I'll often go sightseeing, maybe doing a bit of climbing in the process. If I'm in the wilds, I'll wander around and familiarize myself with the landscape. That last bit's important, because you never know when you're going to run into a hive of bandits. This routine being disrupted is actually the routine for me, hehehe. 85. What is your greatest strength as a person?    I'm resiliant. I can take everything you can throw at me! 86. What is your greatest weakness?    I'm... kind of impulsive, I guess? Sometimes I don't really think things through... 87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?    I wish I could heal faster. Sometimes these insect bites just last way too long... 88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted?    Extroverted, really. I mean, you probably guessed that from hearing me, right? 89. Are you generally organized or messy?    Organized. Well, you have to be, when you're living alone like I am. I can't imagine anyone surviving while not knowing where every single tool in their backpack is located. 90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.    Surviving; hunting; fighting.    Being a "respectable woman of class"; Patience; Keeping my hands to myself. 91. Do you like yourself?    I do! I do like myself. I think that's important, y'know, to be healthy. If I didn't believe I could do the things I do, well, that wouldn't get me very far, now, would it? 92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…)    I'm doing it because I don't want to see another Calamity happen. That's the truth of it, pure and simple. 93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?    Hmmm... maybe to see Bahamut put away for good. That would be nice. 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?    I can't tell you that, really. I could be on another continent for all I know! 95. If you could choose, how would you want to die?    Ah... quick and painless, I suppose. I'm not sure I want to die of old age, heh. 96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.    I'd, well, I'd go see my child one last time, then I'd go get drunk and party. And then I'd cry. I'd cry buckets. 97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?    Being instrumental in the final death of Bahamut! Or saving the world, even. I guess they're both one in the same? 98. What three words best describe your personality?    Hyperactive; strong-willed; pragmatic. 99. What three words would others probably use to describe you?    Slut; thief; selfish. 100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…)    Go talk with people, and make some actual contacts. Being a loner isn't all it's cut out to be. ICly there are a LOT of questions Dustyn would never answer ... so ya ... lol A small Miqo'te walks into the tavern shaking rain water from her hair as she sat down stiffly across from the interviewer. She gave a tight smile, hoping that this favor would now make her and Nova even. Show Content
