RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - Naunet - 02-17-2014

Antimony has what I can best describe as very strong displaced mothering instincts. Emphasis on the displaced. xD Though she was very much a recluse for the past five years, it was more a reaction to an emotional fracturing (at the loss of her children) than any sense of "I hate people," so though she can be socially inept, she's also extremely affectionate and encouraging towards those who seem troubled. Somehow she's gathered a small... uh, collection of "hobos" - wayward, wandering individuals who have now become targets of a mother's attention. If she's sensed that connection, so to speak, she won't hesitate with the comforting hand and shoulder pats, the caring looks and words, and when its called for, the warm hugs that seek to shield you from the world.

It's a little awkward when the people she's doing that to are, say, an armored-to-the-teeth wannabe dragoon or a shifty homeless assassin. xD

She was recently reunited with a daughter she thought long dead, and she's been extremely clingy to her as well. Basically, Antimony won't shy away from physical contact when she feels some kind of emotional or otherwise personal support is needed.

RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - Nykkus Trachspyr - 02-17-2014

For Rhuvian it's all about the mood. Typically he just assumes it to be another facet of "the game" and will play along.

Nykkus will likely try her hardest to kill you. The person, the reason, the moment - all irrelevant details to her. It is not wanted, is not appreciated, and will be perceived as an imminent threat, to be dealt with lethally.

RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - Rio van Rosch - 02-17-2014

Rio's a pretty physical person, so things like hugs are right up her alley. However, most of the time she prefers to be the one initiating the touching. Also, she's a bit prone to casual violence, especially towards men.

Whether one should touch Rio or not goes on the same logic as whether you should be scratching a cat's belly. If she's already pretty positive towards you or already touches you, touch away! If you're a man or she doesn't like you, you'll probably get shot in the leg.

RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - Sounsyy - 02-17-2014

Sounsyy is abrasive towards physical advances. She does not like touching others, and expects others to not touch her. She usually doesn't outwardly suggest this preference though if the person she is interacting with is quite forward. For instance, if a stranger at the bar got up into her face, she would not flinch away, just feel very uncomfortable about the proximity. Or if she were to be touched, rather than recoiling, she would likely have an "out-of-body" until the interaction was finished.

RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - Kylin - 02-18-2014

Kylin loves physical contact, and often even secretly craves it. There are numerous occasions he's flirted with someone and touched them on the shoulder/chest even if when he knows the other person is completely uninterested (lolFenix). Part of this is likely due to the fact that he had no mother growing up, and thus missed out on a lot of the physical aspects of 'love.'

RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - Keru / E'ir - 02-18-2014

Hmm...this is a tricky one.

For Keru he doesn't mind things like shaking hands, the occasional hug. He does however get all awkward when it's someone he barely knows. Flirty touches are lost to him, he'll more than likely think "This is happening? Huh..." He secretly enjoys people playing with his hair though.

For my newest Crazy: Bibifono Didifono he likes all the touching, he likes butts too, if he likes yours he will pat it. You have been warned, Bibi will touch yer butt.

Seer will give anyone-who-isn't-Tsuki a cold stare if they touch him. He doesn't approve of it, and is more a fan of formal bowing/a curt nod in greeting than a handshake. (He'll still go along with a handshake if it's extended out of politeness, but he'd never offer it.)

On the other hand, one of Haii Hai's primary life goals is to find someone to carry her around like the Sultana. She doesn't mind hugs, low fives, or any form of physical contact. She still has some etiquette about extending it, though - she might tug on the hem of someone's sleeve or halfrobe to get their attention. Spontaneous leg hugs are reserved for people she knows and likes.

It makes her uncomfortable and embarrassed and she would just prefer not to have to deal with the fall out of someone trying and she freaking out. There's a short list of people who can actually touch her and she doesn't freak out immediately, and an even shorter list of people who can touch her and freaking out doesn't enter her mind at all.

She doesn't like to be touched, yet she touches all of our hearts. What a selfish jerk Angry.

The most evil of villains. She makes you want to give her a hug but alas...

RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - Zac Evans - 02-18-2014

Zac doesn't have a problem-he'll slap five, body bump and engage in an intricate fifteen minute long secret handshake-unless it's either a handsome guy or pretty woman doing anything in any real flirtatious manner at all. At that point he becomes a beet-red, stammering, shy cutie-pie.

Think of it this way, senpai caught you unaware and unprepared by noticing you.

RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - KBdeni - 02-18-2014

Yehn'a is uncomfortable when touched by other people he doesn't know, and he'll flinch and jump if caught off guard.  He isn't very used to it.

If he knows the person, and expects them to occasionally touch him, he'll be a little more comfortable. Still he may tense up or his tail will fuzz naturally in defense.

If a kitten were to rub against his legs, or a dog were to lay a head on his knee, or a golem just so happened to nuzzle against his arm, he will likely smile and pat the creature on the head (assuming he can reach the head).

RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - Sophia_Grave - 02-18-2014

I'd say its contextual for Sophia. She's got no qualms with either giving or receiving polite gestures from pretty much anyone. If she is willing to allow much else, it is likely because that person is close. If not, then they could probably expect to see some sort of backlash from her.

RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - Lost River - 02-18-2014

Orella is improving on her don't invade my personal space or you get punched attitude.

Wow, a lot of people here are all "Nuuuu dun touch me." Time for Lost River to fix that! (or make it worse).

This. Kage has this dark inside want for it and so far the closest he's gotten is one of his best friend male Miqo'te carrying him on his shoulders. Close, but not quite.

RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - Ildur - 02-18-2014

The developers really should add a lala-only action that allows them to be carried by other races. Then I would never unsubscribe. Like, ever. Or at least it'd get a +10 save against Unsubscription.

On-topic. Ulanan thinks that physical contact is only allowed in greetings, emergencies, marriage and when you want to be incredibly rude to other people. Sports are included in the last category, for clarification.

Ildur only allows shaking of hands and maybe pats on the shoulder or back. Anything besides that is too unprofessional.

K'airos is ussually okay with whatever up to hugs unless strangers are involved.

RE: How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch? - Cato - 02-18-2014

I'd assume most Lalafell and Miqo'te would find it degrading to be picked up and treated like pets. I'd love to see a situation where a Miqo'te or Lalafell knocks someone unconscious for trying to treat them like toys. I guess I'm just cynical but it seems like there's far too many people out there trying to go for the 'cutesy' angle within this community. It just seems excessive and has become the norm rather than the exception. Heck, my character is something of an anti-hero and is meant to be an antagonist at times and yet he's constantly subjected to attempts at hugging him. It just seems rather weird.
