RE: Staying logged in to avoid queues? Don't. - DimmerMeerkat - 08-28-2013 The only way I've ever gotten in has been to log in at 4:00 AM. I work from 6 - 2:30 AM. I cannot get on after a point. If you have a daytime job or go to school, you absolutely cannot login, ever. RE: Staying logged in to avoid queues? Don't. - Kyatai - 08-28-2013 What I don't understand is... Why someone actively playing the game gets booted- yet an afker can stay on all day and night... I am -constantly- getting kicked from the game and unable to return. Just an hour ago, I was kicked from the middle of the last boss fight in Coppermine. RE: Staying logged in to avoid queues? Don't. - Clover - 08-28-2013 I always log off when I go to have dinner, but that means I most likely won't be able to log back in after. I've been tempted to just afk so that I can keep playing, but yes... I recognize that'd be unfair. At least this gives my poor PC a break *pats it*. RE: Staying logged in to avoid queues? Don't. - DimmerMeerkat - 08-28-2013 What I think they should do is boot everyone, shut down all the servers, freeze that "free time" that's ticking away for everyone, and redub the "launch" for whenever the servers are fixed. Instead they're letting it go on and on while thousands of people can't get in--especially those of us who aren't at home during low traffic hours. The thing that makes it frustrating is knowing that other people are getting the opportunity that you aren't. If it was shut down for everyone, it'd be annoying, sure, but it wouldn't be infuriating, and there would be no constant desperation to get in to play with friends and play catch up like there is now. RE: Staying logged in to avoid queues? Don't. - Oldaric Charledore - 08-28-2013 I haven't really had to many problems logging in...say for a few times I had to exit n reenter the game a few times..n yes I agree these people worked hard on this game and leaving your character seems exstremely selfish...I understand you have to work maybe you can't get in....so what during that whole time your doing what you have to do...to you know eat...live with a roof over your...you know those luxuries you take for granted n complain about your job....well FFxiv is a one you don't need to survive yes its fun...but you could be virtuous to others square Enid included they need this game to be successful...so that means they don't need people getting there money back because you wanted to "hold your place in line "....have you been to the DMV when its busy...I'm talking like 10 years ago when there was lines....yea...frustrating enough right....imagine this your in DMV...n the person ahead of you doesn't move forward with the line...you can see the people ahead of the person moving getting there buissness taking care of....but not you...because there's some dkhead ahead of you not letting you move with line RE: Staying logged in to avoid queues? Don't. - Rinh Hallani - 08-28-2013 My game crashed at about 9 pm UK today and it took me 10 minutes of fervent clicking to get back in. I honestly thought it was going to be a lot worse than that so I'm not complaining. RE: Staying logged in to avoid queues? That's because you're erroring out.  People sitting in their inn rooms with nothing that could crash/DC them aren't going to be kicked by errors because they're not moving, not doing anything. Fighting in a dungeon... chatting with a friend (in my Inn room)... standing in BentBranch chatting with others at the aetheryte... Got booted once during a rez... And once zoning, I think. Otherwise... yeah. just Hi-bye. RE: Staying logged in to avoid queues? I have never used it, as I would feel absolutely horrible if I did, but I can't say I really blame people who do employ it. SE really just needs to create an auto-kick. I wouldn't really call it an exploit. It used to be vital in FFXI to stay logged in in order to sell stuff, and even in FXIV 1.0 to look for repairs and personal bazaars. Now I'm not certain if they've done away with those things so you no longer have a need to stay in, as I've been unable to log in :-) RE: Staying logged in to avoid queues? Don't. - Maeve - 08-28-2013 I've been trying to login for over two hours and it just says the world is full, I don't even get a queue. Therefore I really don't blame those people that stay logged in, especially if they are just going away for 30mins to an hour. Its SE's fault for not putting in an afk kicker - people will always abuse systems if the proper checks aren't put in place. Lucky I live in Australia so I know that in an hour or two the server load usually lessens and I'll be able to get in. RE: Staying logged in to avoid queues? Don't. - Desmond Aryll - 08-28-2013 This had been a tough time for everyone. Waiting all this time for the game to launch and these problems pop up. ![]() One thing that's important to remember is not to seek ways to alienate other players, singling them out as Afk'ers or something. They are players just like us. And resenting them isn't hurting anyone but the person doing the resenting because let's face it, other players practicing this don't care if we're upset or not. (shrug) They don't even know us. People are people as someone on here said. That's very true. When there is no food people fight over bread. And this is definitely a famine. I'm gonna do myself a favor and try and remember it's just a game. ![]() RE: Staying logged in to avoid queues? Don't. - Mewnie - 08-28-2013 I'd play some Saints Row 4, but yesterday's patch corrupted saves so I can't even play that to pass the time ![]() It's disappointing that some folks have a FYGM attitude, but not at all surprising. We live in the age of "I want it and I want it NOW." |
