Isn't going shirtless more of a hot-and-humid kind of thing?  In the hot desert people would be more likely to wear loose clothes to cover most of their skin while still being airy enough.  It keeps you cooler by keeping the sun off your skin and making your sweat evaporate more slowly.

If you look around Thanalan it's pretty hard to find people shirtless, they're mostly dressed like "desert folk."

Not trying to be a geek about this, just saying that if you want to show off your bod then "it's the desert" isn't really a great excuse.  :p
I dunno, I take my shirt off whenever it's hot. I just assumed everyone does the same!

Let's look at the bright side. La Noscea's climate is perfect to stay shirtless.

There we have our reason to RP out of the Quicksands!

(I'd love to see many more people in swimwear around Costa del Sol, it's nowhere as crowded as the FFVII Costa del Sol was!)

Instead, the closest I can get is wearing a bikini top. Bloody double standards. Grrr, grrr, rar, etc.

Admittedly, I wouldn't really want to unless they gave us the muscle slider we so deserve. Gotta show off dem muscles, ya know? But only Hyur and Roes get that privilege. YES I JELLY! Grrr. Hiss.

Likewise.  It'd be nice to make it an RP hot-spot, but there's less of a reason for people to wind up there IC because it's not really near a major urban center the way The Quicksand is.  Everyone would need a justification for going there. 

Maybe once we get some new summer clothes people will be wanting to show off their beach bodies somewhere else than the Quicksand.
