RE: Getting into Balmung - A Discussion - Rudiford - 12-26-2015 Gah, seems impossible. Will Balmung accept all eight of my characters if I were to transfer? I was thinking about stalking the server in the wee hours, but it seems unlikely this season. If all 8 characters are coming from the same server, yes. You can use the one transfer fee for them all. RE: Getting into Balmung - A Discussion - William Greystone - 01-07-2016 Hello everyone, I wanted to know if I buy a world transfer can I still get rejected due to the overpopulation of players. If your application to move gets rejected, then I do not think they charge you. I had a friend transfer in today (like 10 mins ago) and the process was without hiccups. I think the fact that you "apply to move" is more of a technicality than a thing that actually causes people to get rejected - like a thing they'd only use if Balmung was about to melt down entirely. RE: Getting into Balmung - A Discussion - Akasumi - 01-08-2016 I know this is probably such a forgone question. But will they ever...EVER...expand the server capacity (or whatever they have to do) to allow us to create characters on Balmung again WITHOUT having to transfer from other servers? Why are they dragging their feet on this? Doubtful. They want to populate existing servers rather than encourage people to migrate away. It's much more cost efficient to spread numbers around. And while I think they should consider server merges, it's horrible PR. The unfortunate fact is RP doesn't matter to Square. They look at Balmung not as a RP hud, but just another large server. There isn't a reason to expand it anymore than expanding Gilgamesh because it's the unofficial raid server these days. That, and I'm too much a cynic to deny they're not complaining over the transfer fees we all pay to get our RP fixes. >.> RE: Getting into Balmung - A Discussion - Kage - 01-08-2016 (01-08-2016, 07:39 AM)Cassandra Wrote:Honestly they're more likely to just separate Gilgamesh and Balmung into different data centers than they are to expand servers. As you said, they want people to populate the existing servers. Not to mention how horribly fucked up Aether Data Center gets when -everyone- is wanting to play. *cough*Heavensward launch*cough*(01-08-2016, 07:28 AM)Akasumi Wrote: I know this is probably such a forgone question. But will they ever...EVER...expand the server capacity (or whatever they have to do) to allow us to create characters on Balmung again WITHOUT having to transfer from other servers? Why are they dragging their feet on this? The thing is, no one really wants to be the pioneer. If someone is going to move they're more likely to want to move to a place with things established. To solve the server population via expanding, they would have to go the SWTOR route and kill the least populated servers while forcing those on killed servers to migrate to med pop servers. Thhat would probably be the only way to do that. But there is never a way that solved the issues. In fact, some players (Weirdly enough) like being on empty servers as much as people who enjoy heavy pop. I doubt we will see anything server changing till 5.0 IMO RE: Getting into Balmung - A Discussion - Kage - 02-04-2016 I've updated the first post to reflect the current status of getting into Balmung. Same thing since June 2015 sadly, transferring into Balmung is the only surefire way to get in. It also saves you time wasted trying to wait for Balmung to open. RE: Getting into Balmung - A Discussion - Reqnia - 02-19-2016 According to the World Transfer Service page (http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/help/option_service/world_transfer_service/) characters cannot be transferred to a World which has already reached the limit for character creation. Is this accurate/still in effect? Is this accurate/still in effect? To my knowledge, they've never enforced that. There is likely a different number of players who must be logged in befire server transfers are cut off, as opposed to the number of players who must be logged in to disable new character creation. RE: Getting into Balmung - A Discussion - Kage - 02-28-2016 Hey all, I've gotten a report from a friend who had attempted to transfer into Balmung yesterday that they got an error during the process as Balmung was too congested. I tested it with a character I sent to hyperion but it worked just fine and the friend reported that 3 hours later the transfer was able to get through. This might mean we're getting to the point where there's so many people on Balmung that transfer to it will be stopped all together. I don't find it surprising, although I'm sure they're banking on transfer and such right now. |
