Picking up the Peices! - Heart Quintessence - 03-06-2015

So I thought I'd get rolling on putting my character together, just trying to form an outline of her as a I download the game, and starting thinking about her.

I've built her  into the Benchmark test, a lovely Miquo'te, though she doesn't have a name yet.

So I thought I'd request some help, try to tie her into other people's back stories even if its just a cameo background appearance.

She's a Sun Seeker raised by Moon Keepers, I think.

Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to roll a new character on Balmung or Gilgamesh right now (the two rp servers), as both are very populated/full. The best time to try is very early in the morning, but there's no guarantee that will work.

However, should luck and determination prevail, then certainly we should rp! Good luck!

......or just throw $18 into a server transfer.
That seems to be the most feasible for getting into Balmung.

Tho I always have excellent luck getting in. Usually takes me a max of 3 days to get an alternative rolled into the server during the morning hours.

You might also be able to get just before or just after the server goes down for maintenance (though I'm honestly uncertain how frequently maintenance happens). It seemed to be open to making new characters at least a couple of hours once it came back online, though depending on your time zone that's still pretty early.

Good luck and don't give up! Smile

RE: Picking up the Peices! - Heart Quintessence - 03-06-2015

I am basically going to try and do it at OGOD oclock. What times (EST) have you guys had luck? If I may ask. I am still downloading the game so I figure by the time I finish I'll have about 10 days left or so in my Free trial (STILL DOWNLOADING UGHGHGHGHG).

But I figure since the I'll get it downloaded, installed, and maybe luck out... or keep trying .

But I want to play on Balmung that seems to  be the central place to be if you're an RPer.

RE: Picking up the Peices! - Caithe - 03-06-2015

I had luck right at the end of maintenence, so 4:30 am EST. From what I gathered, it stayed open for another hour, maybe hour and a half, longer. I could be mistaken on that, though.

RE: Picking up the Peices! - Magellan - 03-06-2015

The weekends usually won't work period, but I was able to get in at 7 am on a Wednesday. Though you may have to try earleier than that.

RE: Picking up the Peices! - Heart Quintessence - 03-06-2015

Yeah my plan was to get on around 5am EST and try for a few hours before work.

RE: Picking up the Peices! - SicketySix - 03-06-2015

I usually have my best luck between 5-7am eastern.

"60% of the time, it works everytime"

RE: Picking up the Peices! - Heart Quintessence - 03-06-2015

That is my plan!

So Anyone have reasons for points of connection ect?

I mean I am so far  trying to imagine this young Miqou'te woman, she's lived  in a weird  community I think. A mix of Sun & Moon Miquo'te, with some Hyur immigration.

Basically I am thinking that the community itself draws from the Matriachal traditions of Moon Keepers (generally), but also  the males are somewhat segregated, but amoungst themselves the sun tradition of 'Nuh' exists...

I am not exactly sure how it is suppoed to play out persay. But I am intereted in exploring it.

It seems plausible enough to me! Any community is possible, although I will note that such a community would need a comprehensible background because of racial tensions and the fact that Keepers and Seekers don't often mingle because Keepers are nocturnal and Seekers are diurnal. I haven't done much research on the history between Miqo'te and Hyur, but they get along well enough in the city states.

Cross-breeding is severely looked down upon in Eorzea. The Nunh system may work among Seekers, but a Nunh throughout all three species may be distasteful for many people. Keeper females that are still attached to their culture would definitely disagree -- this would put the male in a position of a possible domination over them. (ex - Keeper Female: We're not property!) Which is another reason why it could prove difficult to mix the cultures if they still cling to their old traditions.

If you mean that amongst the male population, the concept of Nunh exists, that... would not be possible. Nunhs are breeding males, nothing less, and nothing more. The Drake (U) tribe is one of the few exceptions to this rule. Because males cannot breed together, it would defeat the purpose of being Nunh.

That doesn't mean I don't encourage exploring your concept, of course! I generally don't focus too much on backstory myself; for me, the fun is to roleplay the current, not write the past. But everybody is different!

I wish you tons of luck on your idea. It sounds like it'll be fun to navigate. Heart

RE: Picking up the Peices! - Heart Quintessence - 03-07-2015

I am still working through the idea, I have a few ideas.
  • Its Keeper Matriarchy at its heart.
  • But Males are able to challenge each other for acess to potentially offer themselves to females. So still with in the Matriarchal theme of Keepers. Essentially any   females may choose  any male and there by pass over a challenge, but amoungst themselves the boys get to challenge each other.
  • The hyur are basically just living in the community, they're aware of this sort of tension, and even some Hyur have hooked up with Miquo'te, (perhaps its fashionable to the the lover of a Miquo'te.
Either way its Keeper based, but they've become a little more Sun-Seeker esque and loss some of their very insular nature because  they needed a larger community ( and they came to the conclusion that they blend traditions and make it a little more acceptable to both sides.

Men still keep some of their Seeker traditions, and all the Seeker females gain the benefit of Keeper Matriarchy.

The Hyur basically latched on because it was 'fashionable' and useful.

RE: Picking up the Peices! - Heart Quintessence - 03-07-2015

Oh I forgot to add, and I think this deserves  a post of its own:
  • The Calaminity forced her community to scatter, and separated  her from them. She's spent the past five years since the Calamity surviving, just bearly. I figure she's done a little of everything.
  • She's also just become an 'adult', since she was living in a Hyur community. Everyone has been reuilding.
  •  Her name is a bit of a  mystery (even to myself)

Her name list so far:

Moon       Sun
Feile       (Q'Feilean)
Xehna     ( Y'Xehnasen)
Lahta      (E'lahtavel)
Ureh       (R'Urehla)
Fahve     (K'Fahvere)
Xiah       (S'Xiahnir)
Xivah     (A'Xivahien)
Xori        (V'Xoriek)

Surname: Chaslei

Suggestions?

I am thinking she was probably born in 1557/8 (for any loreites)- making her closer to the age of the Sultana o Ul'dah.
