T'eyo washed up in Limsa Lominsa sometime after the Calamity, the only known survivor of the pirate ship he was on at the time. He makes no secret of his past, but does not often share the complete details. He has since taken to adventuring professionally, though he has not been particularly bold or well-known yet, preferring to take jobs he knows he can handle but still test his abilities over risky ventures that could leave him dead.
Of particular note are his attachments to and interests in the city's orphanages and whorehouses, to which he donates a substantial portion of his adventuring profits - his way of giving back to the community that's given him a second chance.
He is a very animated individual, as well as an incorrigible flirt. He puts great stock into the words of fortune-tellers and other such seers, though he downplays it slightly, if only because there are stranger things in this world than there being a hint of truth in the interpretation of symbolism behind the draw of the cards.
Long-since lost to the clan of his birth on an island now lost to the Calamity, T'eyo maintains his title of Tia until such a time as he is able to support a clan of his own and prove his worth.
