New FFXIV'er Here - Addison - 05-19-2015 Well...kinda... I played very very briefly in 1.0 after beta testing it. I was a hardcore XI player and was really looking forward to XIV...until the finished product. I tried it, hated it, and haven't given it another shot. Until now... I'm pretty terrible at saying hello, so some stuff: --MMORPG background Final Fantasy XI, Everquest 2, World of Warcraft mainly. I've also played Archeage, Rift, Elder Scrolls Online, Aion and probably a few others I've missed. --RP experience I've roleplayed in Everquest 2, Archeage, Elder Scrolls Online as well as various forums & Skype. --Character ideas/info Sadly, I haven't really thought about it. I'm one of those that needs to RP the character and let it come naturally, instead of writing it out beforehand on a template. --How did you learn about the coalition? Google. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? It really depends on the depth of RP I can find. --Anything from real life you'€™re comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I work with animals and I tend to be a bookworm.  So hello RE: New FFXIV'er Here - Edda - 05-19-2015 Welcome to the RPC... and I empathize, I am also terrible at saying hello, but I think you did a fine job! If ever you want to talk RP ideas or questions about the game in any capacity, feel free to contact me. RE: New FFXIV'er Here - Nebbs - 05-19-2015 Welcome and you will find many of a similar story here.  The best way to get established is through Linkshells (chat groups) and free Companies (guilds), and you can find lists of those here with some description of their flavour.. shop around. Also Ul'dah adventurous guild is the general mosh pit of random casual RP. Worth a look, not as bad as Goldshire.. mostly  No honestly it is fine. RP is definitely alive and dig a bit on the resources and Server areas and you will find a lot of activity. RE: New FFXIV'er Here - Addison - 05-22-2015 Thanks for the welcome, folks.
