Role play and how to questions - Aeri'ica - 05-21-2015
I am brand new to this community. I have been interested in role play for a long time though I feel my approach to it and how I set up my main character, Aeri'ica Nabo, as possibly being outside of the role play conventions for FF!4?
First I don't know what the accurate role play class I should have chosen for her is as I was not in a FC that came close to RP. Â I actually created a her class as arcanist, which was a part of the back story I created for her. I am thinking the obvious class would have been archer since as a keeper of the moon she would have come from the Black Shroud. Â Does Archaist fit though?
My style of role play as I view any character I create as being outside of me, they are a fully independent being, not an avatar that represents myself. I view them as a character I met in a story. Â I appreciate any input, thanks!

Really, any race and gender of that race can be just about any class as long as you write it in a way that is believable. You can have a Hellsguard Roegadyn conjurer from the shroud, you can have a Hyur Highlander rogue, and yes, you can have a Keeper Arcanist!
The key here is plausibility. Eorzea is a very diverse place--with some regions being more tolerant than others--and Limsa Lominsa is noted to be something of a cultural melting pot. Because Limsa Lominsa tends to be open-minded as far as race relations go, provided you're not a kobold or sahagin, it's completely possible to have a Keeper who is from or has visited Limsa Lominsa long enough to learn arcanima. A Keeper in Limsa would certainly be unusual or exotic, but not impossible or unbelievable.

Seconding Nero, in that all races can be found just about anywhere in Eorzea. While Gridania and the Black Shroud are noted as being the specific haven for Keepers of the Moon, they are found elsewhere in the world. Melvaan's Gate (the Arcanist Guild) in Limsa Lominsa actually has a Keeper/Seeker cross-breed working for them named Rubh Epocan.
A bit of lore about the Arcanist Guild:
Melvaan's Gate was established shortly after the rise of the current Admiral, Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn roughly 14 years ago. Prior to this, Limsa Lominsa was a bustling free port and haven for piracy, smuggling, and all imports and exports into and out of Eorzea. Melvaan's Gate was created to inspect and tax all of this traffic, which is the job of the Melvaan Arcanist. Today, Limsa Lominsa is still the center of all maritime trade in the world and requires that all goods entering Eorzea first go through Melvaan's Gate for inspection. Naturally, these regulations have not pleased many of Limsa Lominsa's pirates.

Thanks, both of you, I really appreciate it. Your information helps provide a better understanding of the world of Role Play.
I have written an extensive back story for Aeri'ica.I do plan on working on a more current lore based story but haven't had time. I plan on putting that story on a MMO page I made on my music website I will provide a link to it when I have the chance. Aeri'ica did end up in Limsa Lominsa at the very beginning of her story, but she was brought there in an unconscious state. Once she woke up and started to explore and ended up in Limsa, that is where she discovered the Arcanist guild and fell in love with it. I also have three other characters I created that are part of her backstory. When Heavensward comes out an Au Ra female will be the fourth and is a very important part of her backstory. Can't wait for the naming conventions to come out for this race.
