[One-time]The Grindstone Special II: The Price of Freedom - July 11 - Warren Castille - 06-18-2015 Tired of waiting in line to hear who you'll have to face at the Grindstone? Tired of trying to solve the meta-game of how the guy on the rock places people? Then boy do I have a deal for you! After the relatively unexpected success of the St. Valentione's Day Massacre and the subsequent raising of over a million gil to keep the prize pot full for those participating at the Grindstone, I figured the time was right to give that another go. Right now there's only three weeks' worth of gil left over (can you believe that?) but the good news is that that means our first "new" date will be Saturday, July 11th. To honor that day of celebration for our friends stateside, I wanted to give everyone who comes to the Grindstone a little taste of freedom. Similarly to the first event, anyone wanting to pick their opponent can do so, but it isn't going to come easy! We're selling meat to the highest bidder once again, but I'm not limiting it to only competitors this time! Anyone who wants to see someone fight can put their money where their mouth is. Got a rival you want to paste in plain view of the Twelve and everyone? Alright! Are you a face in the crowd who's always dreamed of seeing that big roe and that fiery lala tear into one another? That's fine too! Highest price sets the matches. And just like last time, anyone who doesn't want to part with their purses is free to show up and partake anyway! This is just a bonus, sort-of fundraising perk to the folks who want to make their dream matches official. So, what do we do with all of this money? I'm glad you asked! Last time we accidentally ended up funding the Grindstone for a staggering five months. This time I intend on doing the exact same thing! Whatever funding gets accumulated will keep the Grindstone running weekly until December 26th, 2015. What happens if you get way more than you expect? Another great question! I plan on reviewing how the payout each week is determined: Instead of a blanket 50k paid out every week, I was debating rewarding the champion based on how many rounds they survived for the night. This means the more people who show up, the higher the pot will be! My initial thoughts were to start at 20,000 gil per win, and based on recent trends that means 80,000 to 100,000 gil for the night. If I end up with way more money than expected, I'll just inflate that per round base rate. I want to spend everything we make before 2016, and will make certain that it's a fair stipend for what folks contribute. How do I know you're not just going to take this and transfer servers? You don't. Gonna have to trust me. As always, I've been providing full transparency in that Grindstone Records link in my signature box, and will continue to update that information as it changes. I don't fight at the Grindstone, but I want to give you money anyway because I'm a crazy person! ...okay! Get a hold of me via PM so we can arrange when to do the drop-off, all spy-like. If you want it to be OOC, that's fine! ICly might be a bit harder given the "we have no actual investors" fluff going on at the moment, but talk to me. We'll work something out. Questions, comments, clarifications will be fielded below! Edit, because OP is an idiot: This will be held on July 11! RE: [One-time]The Grindstone Special II: The Price of Freedom - July 4 - Edda - 06-18-2015 So, how exactly does the bidding work? As a spectator, do I bid on one fighter, or a pair? RE: [One-time]The Grindstone Special II: The Price of Freedom - July 4 - Aya - 06-18-2015 The Grindstone should have a dance competition. RE: [One-time]The Grindstone Special II: The Price of Freedom - July 4 - Warren Castille - 06-18-2015 (06-18-2015, 04:32 PM)Edda Wrote: So, how exactly does the bidding work? As a spectator, do I bid on one fighter, or a pair? Good question that I didn't address adequately! Fighters: Bid your dosh and state your opponent. If you have the high bid when I call for time, you get your match. Non-fighters: Bid your dosh and state your dream match. If you have the high bid on both parties involved, you get your match. Example: EDDA bids 100k to see FIGHTER A and FIGHTER B fight. FIGHTER A bids 120k and wants to fight FIGHTER C. In this case, FIGHTER A gets his match against C. Bidding will begin as soon as a crowd is formed (Let's shoot for, 8EST?) and will be closed approximately 15 minutes before we get underway (so 9:45 EST). RE: [One-time]The Grindstone Special II: The Price of Freedom - July 4 - Edda - 06-18-2015 Thank you Warren. One more question, if you bid on a match, and someone outbids you, do you get a chance to outbid them? Or is it just a one-time thing and hope you win it. Oscare wins by default. RE: [One-time]The Grindstone Special II: The Price of Freedom - July 4 - Vali - 06-18-2015 where do I sign up? I will be doing my best to keep everyone up to date on the bidding as it goes. Last time I took offers in /t and then would /y the result, so something like >From Chunli: A million gil to fight Ryu! Warren: /y Ryu has been picked for a fight! >From Edda: A billion gil to have Ryu fight Ken Warren: /y Ryu's bid has been updated! So if you see your mark get mentioned, and you didn't supply the gil for it? Someone outbid you. I'll be attempting to keep the sheet updated as it goes, so anyone watching there will be able to see the process happening in semi-realtime. I mean, who doesn't love violence and watching others smack talk people before the fight? RE: [One-time]The Grindstone Special II: The Price of Freedom - July 4 - Y'uraq Tia - 06-18-2015 This sounds like a lot of fun! I'll totally show for this... Got a couple of folks i'd like to fight, if they show. Oh if you win a bid on a fight, are you allowed to bid on another fight? or just is it just a one per person sort of thing? I can try and make that work. We're still going to follow to single-loss elimination but I'm happy to let people mold the brackets. RE: [One-time]The Grindstone Special II: The Price of Freedom - July 4 - Y'uraq Tia - 06-18-2015 Oh! it's an elimination? my bad, for some reason i thought this was gonna be an exhibition thing.. my mistake but no, this is REALLY awesome too!
