Garlean Titles - Aduu Avagnar - 06-29-2015 As mentioned in the 3.0 Spoiler discussion thread, the Library has books which feature lists of Garlean titles. I managed to grab some screenshots, so here we go, along with general translations): The rise of the Garlean Empire in the year 1522 of the Sixth Astral Era led to significant changes in the structure of Garlean society (Similar to the Marian reforms of the Roman Legions). This is most evident in the adoption of titles which serve to indicate an individuals place within the social hierarchy. The following information was compiled with the aid of informants within the empire and has yet to be verified: Royalty:
Decided to aid the military minded Garleans with some info on the Marian Legions (Which is the closest model to the in game Garlean Legions given the titles).
Most of this info came from Wikipedia, so if someone with more knowledge on Roman history can supply it, then cool! RE: Garlean Titles - Ciel - 06-29-2015 It's some great stuff but Eir and Fae have me the most curious. Also interesting how they're pretty much alphabetical from the lowest rung, up. RE: Garlean Titles - Kage - 06-29-2015 Also, "Many Garleans see the "aan" title as an opportunity, not a condemnation, as someone bearing said title can be raised above that station with exceptional skill or twenty years of military service." RE: Garlean Titles - Aduu Avagnar - 06-29-2015 Yes, I was going to expand upon it later on, its pretty similar to standard Roman practice. It seems that the Garlean empire is based on the Republic of Rome, post Marian Reform, with some bits based on the Roman Empire RE: Garlean Titles - Hyrist - 06-29-2015 I have a feeling  quite a few characters will be making edits to have appropriate middle names. This is great info though. This is information many of us have been waiting for a very long time. RE: Garlean Titles - Paradox - 07-01-2015 I have been waiting for this information for a long time to work on a Garlean. Whoever is responsible for this information deserves a RE: Garlean Titles - Kellach Woods - 07-02-2015 You mean I screenshotted all this for nothing!? RE: Garlean Titles - Aduu Avagnar - 07-02-2015 Well, I screenshoted it as well, but for the intention of putting it up here XD RE: Garlean Titles - Seriphyn - 07-02-2015 (06-29-2015, 12:28 PM)Nako Wrote: General Populus (06-29-2015, 12:41 PM)Ciel Wrote: It's some great stuff but Eir and Fae have me the most curious. Corelyn nan Bellor it is. (Though of course, it's "rosefire" now, but... yanno. Backstory.) Still, I loved this information to death. More Garlean lore! MORE! |
