Where'd you go? I miss you so. - Kiur - 08-03-2015

We all know our characters don't go into sudden comas when we log off. We leave for work and sleep, and realistically, our characters go do the same thing.
What is your character doing when their maker is out buying groceries?

Full excerpts are lovely. Seeing single sentences makes my teeth itch.

RE: Where'd you go? I miss you so. - Virella - 08-03-2015

I fear in Virella's case it is either sleeping, working, or doing things with the other half, what I'd sooner not give excerpts of what they are doing Wink

But yeah. My characters just tend to go trough the daily things of live; work, sleep, shower, socialise with NPCs ect. All the boring things I'd sooner not roleplay, or have no interest in doing such.

RE: Where'd you go? I miss you so. - Elaris - 08-03-2015

Hmm, I have far too many characters to list what they all might be doing during my off time. I guess I'll mention that Saeren Orbanis is probably maintaining her estate, because the people who live with her are not exactly very tidy. She does everything from the laundry to grocery shopping, she has the maternal side to her so taking care of her little family is rewarding to her, plus she has two pets to look after now.

Elaris Strywin is probably being lazy, whenever I take up that character I have her fighting beasts and general baddies. She does not like to have a random sit downs, talk about feelings or enjoy crumpets and tea. She is a working machine so whenever I'm not utilizing her, she is being lazy and messy.

Thyren Orbanis is most likely hunting or maintaining his living environment. He is a hunter and enjoys being outside more than inside. He is also a crafter, he is not the best at it but he still enjoys the hobby. I'd say he would be doing that, or just patrolling whichever area I last left him at.

I'm just under the assumption the character in the other universe if off doing normal... grown up... stuff. AKA He's earning Gil by working or doing menial tasks such as sleeping.

Im the same as the above.

A lot of times when I have to log off for dinner or such, I come up with various IC justifications. Sometimes she's adjusting the aetheric attunement or the physical structure of her various staves and rods. Occasionally she's engrossed in a book or doing research. Most often, she's called off to consult with someone on a magical matter, whether it's the Foreign Levy or an individual or family by way of a levemete.

That doesn't cover the times when I'm regularly not on, though. A usual day in the life for L'yhta goes something like this. First, she wakes up around sunrise and goes for a swim, then takes tea and fruit either at the Ivory Tower or the Bismarck. Then, it's off to explore one of her interests -- trying out new spells as part of her attempts to extend magic theory, toying around with the various relics she's discovered (she has a "singing" sword she picked up some time ago that's her current interest), training in swordplay, or even teaching a lesson or two on basic geometries at the arcanists' guild. When she has an apprentice, this is when they do formal lessons. Lunch is usually street food unless she's at the Tower, in which case it's whatever Volkido's brought by that day. Adventure time for L'yhta is in the evenings, where she'll often "field test" what she's been working on during the day by delving into ruins and "interesting" places, taking on tasks through the levemetes, dragging her apprentice if any into extreme danger, and so on. Tea, sweet things, and unending enthusiasm keep her running (though she's been known to steal a nap after lunch, preferably on the beach or with the window open to put a sun spot on her bed). L'yhta typically goes to bed when I do, with her stuffed qiqirn and chocobo on her bedside table and preferably someone to snuggle up with.

I really don't see her doing much besides reading, practicing magic, writing in her research log, and bugging people.

Kat'll always be sketching something. Or going Garrus Vakarian on her ever evolving gun. Otherwise she's trying not to be hungry, cooking up something in her kitchen(though recent IC dev't makes this hard) just day to day acts.

Though prolonged periods see her trying to get past that open stretch of land from the chocobo forest to the hinter lands if not being another adventurer doing job board requests.

Reading, writing or sketching somewhere quiet, catching up on sleep or just going on a candy binge in secret (both because he's ashamed that he has no self control when it comes to sweets and because he doesn't want to share).

Sleeping, gambling, and drinking.

RE: Where'd you go? I miss you so. - cuideag - 08-03-2015

I like to think Delial spends a lot of her "off-time" skulking around the Forgotten Knight if only to make sure that Kage Kiryuu isn't around so she can sneak in their room and catch a nap while he's away. Actually get some rest from the nonsense she's put up to. Enjoy a little time for herself.

Also imagine she spends quite a lot of time on her hair and such when the Voice that Compels isn't around. That foxy feathered look doesn't happen all by itself! Also, laundry. She doesn't have a huge wardrobe so gotta keep what she has from getting all stanky.

RE: Where'd you go? I miss you so. - Momo - 08-03-2015

Momo?  Well Momo is probably doing what he should be doing when he is not doing it while I am on...which means actual work like managing trade accounts, checking in on his charges, and chatting with or getting orders from his master...He probably manages to do some of the things we both enjoy too, i.e. drinking and generally spending his large allowance on nightlife entertainment of all kinds.

Then again, it is just as likely (if not more) he is studying buried under stacks of old tomes by candle light.  He has a full schedule Tongue

RE: Where'd you go? I miss you so. - Cato - 08-04-2015

Graeham leads a fairly busy life so whenever I'm not around to actually role-play him doing stuff...I usually consider him as being off attending to his duties as a diplomat, training to use a sword and shield, indulging in his hobbies (fishing, swimming, climbing, etc), spending time with his lover or catching up on sleep.

Most of that is stuff I try to role-play out in-game as well though.

RE: Where'd you go? I miss you so. - Nadine Marteau - 08-04-2015

Nadine is definitely slaving away in her workshop or the manufactory, working on new inventions to turn the tide in the war on dragonkind.

RE: Where'd you go? I miss you so. - Corelyn - 08-04-2015

Corelyn is most frequently either in her workshop in Camp Bronze Lake, tinkering with who-knows-what, off on a research/salvaging expedition, asleep, or studying from any number of tome, books, you name it.

Dail'a, in those off-times, is most often just taking jobs and leves from the Adventurer's Guild, bounties from the companies or authorities, or generally just out fighting things. He could also well be asleep, since he loves his naps and could generally sleep any time, day or night.
