Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Ignacius - 10-01-2015 What is your main character's reputation in all five Eorzean major cities?  Are they well known in any or all?  Are they wanted?  Local heroes?  How are they treated differently from town to town, and how does that play into your RP?  I'll start as an example... Gridania: Orleans Ignacius is a known, but not well known figure in Gridania.  Most of what anyone knows about him is related to the Free Company he operates.  Gridania isn't a popular market for most of his smuggled products (though he does have some interests in the city) and the city government doesn't necessarily have many problems with his criminal organization. However, the Ghost Wolf Dancers are backed by the Twin Adders, and themselves are far better known as a group in Gridania.  They are known to be a somewhat shady, yet ultimately tribal group tied to nature and specifically to the thrill of the hunt.  As their own philosophy has a strong element of balance, the Ghost Wolf Dancers are a relatively well-known unit.  Orleans Ignacius is best known as the nominal head of the organization, so his criminal activity is almost unknown by the Gridanian populace, and certainly rides well behind his reputation as a mercenary and a warrior chief. Limsa Lominsa:  Orleans has a much more complex relationship with his current base of operations, Limsa Lominsa.  His organization is based there and conducts most of its shipping and movements on Lominsan docks.  On the surface, he's tolerated by the Maelstrom and the Admiralty.  Plenty of organizations make their living raiding Garleans and selling the spoils.  The Maelstrom and groups operating within Limsa Lominsa are still his best customers. However, most Lominsans are aware of his reputation, especially his violence.  He's seen as a necessary evil in Limsa Lominsa by pretty much everyone.  It's well known that, though he makes his living essentially by smuggling illegal goods, the real problem is that he has fewer qualms about who to sell them to.  While arming Lominsan loyalist organizations, he also arms and supplies revolutionary pirates, beast tribes, the Garleans, anyone who will pay him the most.  So far, Orleans has done enough service to the Maelstrom and Limsa Lominsa that they aren't considering getting rid of him, and he seems to value not sawing off the branch of the tree he is sitting on, but few in Limsa Lominsa actually trust Ignacius.  That doesn't necessarily stop them from liking him, though.  Ignacius lives primarily in Limsa Lominsa and is markedly charitable with his earnings, leading his questionable methods more the concern of authority figures than the average citizen.  They simply know better than to get involved unless they don't mind their unclean hands. Ul'dah:  The situation could not be more different in Ul'dah.  Orleans' antagonistic stance towards strict government, socio-economic politics, and anti-authoritarian streak has earned him the dislike, distrust, and outright hostility of the Ul'dah government, Monetarist or otherwise.  Orleans regularly disparages the government of Ul'dah and many of its tenets, and for their part Ul'dah seems keenly aware of Orleans' practices and reputation.  Though he is tolerated in the city as leader of the Ghost Wolf Dancers (whose presence is diminished by his reputation there) and though he has business interests in Ul'dah aplenty (far more than Gridania), Orleans is seen as being a relatively soiled figure.  Most of the Ul'dah government and plenty of its upright citizens view him as a dangerous criminal yearning to be caught. This is complicated somewhat by the presence of Ala Mhigan refugees, which form the source of Orleans' personal dislike of Ul'dah politics and also form a sort of support network for his use.  Orleans sees the plight of the Ala Mhigans as similar to that of his own tribe in their homelands, and he is well known for not only employing Ala Mhigan refugees (legally and illegally), but also for publicly showering them with charity, gifts, and praise.  Whether this is a personal belief or whether he is doing so as a calculated movement, the effect is the same.  Orleans is extremely popular with the Ala Mhigan (and by extension, the poor underclass of Ul'dah).  This popularity does nothing for his reputation in the rest of the city, who view it as further proof that Orleans isn't above board. Ishgard: Ishgard's dealings with Orleans began relatively recently, as he was not the sort of adventurer that the Holy See trucked with lightly.  Though some small business was done through intermediaries at times, Ishgard saw fit to not have much of anything to do with Orleans or the Dancers.  Times have changed, though.  Ishgard seems to not know what to do with Orleans, as he seems to represent much of their problem with all adventurers.  He is an incredibly talented warrior, and has spent much time in Ishgard with the Dancers in their capacity as tribal hunters and sellswords.  In that area, he's been markedly effective. However, his seedy background, criminal reputation, and his penchant for identifying with the underclass has also brought his reputation as a criminal operator that stirs up discontent to fuel his enterprise.  The effect seems to cancel out, and Ishgard sees him as a reliable and useful commodity that needs to be constantly watched to make sure his negatives do not outweigh his positives.  For his part, Orleans treads lightly as he establishes himself here, though he is still more often to be found increasing his reputation in the Foundation while suspicion grows in the Pillars. Revenant's Toll: In the adventurer's paradise, Orleans criminal reputation is relatively unheralded.  Being that the law is so lax in Mor Dhona, Orleans smuggling and criminal activity barely counts as criminal activity, it's mostly sales and taking care of business on the frontier.  So only Orleans', and the Dancers', activities as hunters are taken into account.  Both are held in high esteem, especially the Dancers as a whole.  So the word that reaches most adventurers are that the group is almost certifiably insane in engaging enemies well beyond rational combat, but that Orleans is someone to call when you need people to engage in dangerous combat with even more dangerous enemies. Unfortunately for Orleans, he seems to have something of an opposite problem here than anywhere else.  Though his reputation is unquestioned, his company is often held in higher regard than he is personally.  Orleans, dangerous as he is, is often seen as a relatively clean and dapper dandy of his tribe and especially compared with the average Revenant's Toll adventurer (who usually also knows the ins and outs of combat).  With his eternally clean hair, expensive walkabout clothes, card-playing habits, and "business acumen", he isn't seen as the dirty murderer he is sometimes called elsewhere.  Very often, adventurers approach him as a salesman instead of a warrior, someone you can trust to charge into the battlefield but might weave around the muddy puddles.  Though it doesn't seriously affect how much work comes his way, it very often affects the type of work that comes his way. What is your character's reputation in the cities? RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Warren Castille - 10-01-2015 Warren's reputation is probably pretty simple. Gridania: Grindstone guy. Limsa Lominsa: That guy who runs the Grindstone. Ul'dah: That paladin who runs the Grindstone. Ishgard: Filthy outsider. Elsewhere: Who? RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - MBajihri - 10-01-2015 Mhaya's reputation is probably something like this: Ul'dah: Known gladiator with a mean streak against ogres and giants, and bartender at her own tavern. Limsa Lominsa: Someone who stops in the city to confirm shipments of various drinks and foods, nothing special. Gridania: Probably similar to Limsa Lominsa depending on who you'd ask. She's likely seen around the marketplaces or various guilds. Ishgard: Can't imagine she really has made a name for herself here yet, be it good or bad. 'Another face in the crowd' likely sums it up! RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Kage - 10-01-2015 Ul'dah: Depending on who... Kage is that fucking Lalafell Sultansworn who left his oath. That turd sitting on a railing. Some people may not be all that happy that he is responsible for the lives of some Blades. Gridania: Who? Limsa Lominsa: Who? Mor Dhona: Who? Ishgard: Depending on who... Strange filthy foreigner. The people in the Brume do not trust Kage. Asking too many questions, gave away too much gil to try and get information... and the people who did try to get the information bribe got attacked when they met up. So... yeah... RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Val - 10-01-2015 Gridania: That one catboy that ran around hitting on and sleeping with women until he was finally ran out of town for sleeping with a noblewoman in particular. Limsa: That one catboy that visited bars and stole from street vendors. Was likely seen a lot with thieves and sailors. Ul'dah: That one catboy that slept under the bridge a lot where they now hold the grindstone. Could be seen a lot in brothels. For all: Stopped coming around after getting a job for that one noble lady. RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Hammersmith - 10-01-2015 Ishgarde: War profiteer and arms dealer.  No evidence to arrest, due in part to it being agreed that extracting Hammersmith from anywhere by force would have an extremely poor cost benefit ratio. Ala Mhigo: The War Machine expert the Destroyer Temple tried to get killed as a tunnel sapper. Gridania: Unwelcome. Something about forest fires and Angering Elementals. Ul'dah: The Sgt. who used to handle all of the siege equipment repairs and logistics for the Immortal Flames.  Tried to retire, failed because SOMEONE DROPPED A MOON ON WHERE HE RETIRED TO, spends his days hurting people at the Grindstone and causing trouble for everyone in arms reach as a Paragon of 'Angry Old Man' these days. Limsa: Arms dealer, war profiteer, and banned from most of the taverns except the one the Blacksmith's guild members use as a stomping ground. Revnant's Toll: Hammer has been seen riding shotgun on several caravans over the course of -decades- through this part of the world. Known merchant dealing mostly in weapons, exotic exports, and and less than reputable luxury consumables. General Knowledge: Furious sellsword with a lack of morals and even fewer reservations about acting on that lack. RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Sounsyy - 10-01-2015 Gridania: Almost complete unknown. Some older members of the Oak Atrium might remember the small Ala Mhigan orphan, but only because of Sounsyy's sister. You'd probably still have to repeat her last name a few times before any spark of recognition occurred, and even then, they'd simply recall she was one of many young children who left to join the Resistance. Ul'dah: Longtime coliseum patrons might recall a young Noxius named Mirke the Maimer, but after a few scuffles with the Brass Blades and supposedly a Sultansworn, that poor girl dropped off the radar - probably rotting away in some gaol. More recently, her name started to see a resurgence thanks to her popularity at the Grindstone, however, even that activity has diminished in the wake of the attempted assassination of the Sultana at the banquet some moons ago. Limsa Lominsa: Here's a place where mentioning Sounsyy's name will give you more than a "hhmm?" Many will associate the name with a Barracuda Captain who ordered her Levy to hold fast against heavy Garlean assault on the banks of Iron Lake. What few of that Levy survived were all but wiped out only a moon after on the fields of Carteneau. Nowadays, the "Levy-killin' " captain has kept her head down. From tracking down Lominsan criminals to building good relations with merchant companies to her new Levy's patrols of the Merlthor trade routes, the captain has kept herself busy - though she's not been seen or heard from in some time. Ishgard: Sounsyy has never been to Ishgard nor has she ever been caught within the boundaries of Coerthas. Seeing as she has no connections with anyone there, she might as well not even exist. Revenant's Toll: The last time Sounsyy visited the former Revenant's Toll camp was in the days before the Calamity when the Eorzean Alliance was amassing near the Fields of Carteneau. Much has changed since that time, but as a home for many a refugee and sellsword, you may find the rare soul who remembers Sounsyy there. Rumor has it that one of the city's guards, a Miqo'te woman with a stiff limp, was once a Maelstrom soldier who served under Captain Mirke's command. RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Leggerless - 10-01-2015 Gridania: The locals have a grudging respect for her, but she's known to butt heads with the Wailers. It has something about "how can you people live with these elementals?" and the way they do things in the area, according to witnesses. Ul'dah: Grindstone Overseer. Lady of Lies. Contact is avoided because people are unsure of her capabilities. Both respected and feared. Limsa Lominsa: Highly respected. Ties with the Rogue's Guild and the Maelstrom; mentioning her name yields talks of admiration about "the young Lieutenant" and her small, yet important, order on the fields of Carteneau. Another nickname assigned to her by the lower ranking solders is "Lone Wolfe" for the quantity of solo operations she's completed. Even with the nickname no one is questioning her ability to lead. Ishgard: Hyur who worked over at the Skysteel Manufactory for a few moons then left. Still an outsider. Ala Mhigo: Who? Revenant's Toll: Who? RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Virella - 10-01-2015 Ishgard: That Douront strumpet who got knocked up by an outsider. The rest: "Who?" I fear she's really only known in Ishgard and areas, for the rest of the cities she's just another random individual passing by. And roleplay has led up to her reputation going down the drain in Ishgard and basically being promoted to Brume scum. RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - -no longer matters- - 10-01-2015 This is very easy for Dinah Gridania:  General Population: Who are you speaking of? This Dinah Sirensong, never heard of her. Back Alley's - Will cost you 100 gil for that information, but We know of the Hushed Songbird. Limsa Lominsa:  General Population: Who are you speaking of? This Dinah Sirensong, never heard of her. Back Alley's: Will cost you 500 gil for that information, but We know of the Silent Canary. Ul'dah:  General Population: Who are you speaking of? This Dinah Sirensong, never heard of her. Back Alley's: Will cost you 800 gil for that information, but We know of the Quiet Siren. Ishgard: General Population: Who are you speaking of? This Dinah Sirensong, never heard of her. Back Alley's: Who? Revenant's Toll: General Population: Is that, that Blondie that cheated me out of 5,000 gil? Back Alley's: Tavern, probably stealing the local's Gil, if she's even here. RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Zelmanov - 10-02-2015 For Orrin: Ul'Dah: That one lush who drinks the stores of Ishgardian brandy dry at the quicksands and always with a Miqo'te on his arm. He may have minor recognition with the Sultansworn for being that one troublesome but useful Dragoon that aided in averting an incident some moons ago. Limsa Lominsa: Who? Gridania: Who? Ishgard: Decorated commander and Dragoon, rumored to be of disreputable past due to his name not matching his race (Elezen name, but a Hyur). Among the military he is generally well received, a minor star for surviving the battle at the Steps of Faith and for heading into the churning mists as part of the Dragoon expeditionary force, He has a good track record as a commander of squads and platoons, no one under his command has perished to anything but combat against dragons so generally being assigned to him tends to be received well as a chance for glory. Among the Nobility, he is begrudgingly tolerated due to his military merit. That doesn't stop other nobility from scrutinizing him at every other turn however. A Hyuran claiming an Elezen name, of a highborn no less is quite an affront after all. Among the brume born, unless they fight and serve along side him, general distaste is the theme of things, but nothing personally pointed at him, just what's expected from just being nobility. RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Eses Fafa - 10-02-2015 Gridania: Troublemaker, pest to society Limsa: Do not challenge this woman to luck-based games Ul'dah: Wanted on suspicion of murder of 2 businessmen and 8 Brass Blades Ishgard: Foreign Dragoon, an insult to a noble position Revenant's Toll: A wannabe tryharding at heroism. RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - FreelanceWizard - 10-02-2015 For L'yhta: Ul'dah: Those in the Immortal Flames might recognize the "consulting mage" who sometimes comes by to help out with spell-breaking and other magical problems. She's a member in good standing of the Thaumaturges' Guild, but only goes by rarely, so they're likely to think, "Who?" Gridania: She's known to the Twin Adder as a consulting mage and someone who mentors younger adventurers and actively fights Garlean incursions into the Shroud; among adventurers and the city's defenders, she's well liked. The Fane doesn't exactly dislike her, per se, but they are quite concerned about the nature of her magical research and would prefer she stop it. Relations on that front are chilly, though she is technically still a member of the guild. Most wouldn't have heard of her (best not to let word of her spread, so the thinking goes, and she's rarely there anyway). Limsa Lominsa: "Limsa Lominsa's most splendiferous mage," so she calls herself, holds honorary rank in the Maelstrom for her assistance against the sahagin and the kobolds, as well as her readiness to jump into action whenever the Foreign Levy needs help. Her membership in the Adventurers' Guild is based here as well. A not inconsiderable number of Maelstrom personnel and young adventurers have been recipients of her aid and (usually good) advice. She occasionally teaches at the arcanists' guild, specializing in geometry modifications and theoretical arcanima; her standing there is quite positive, though they wish she'd focus more on training new arcanists. Her nephew is currently training at the Coral Tower in the hopes of joining the Yellowjackets, and her personal assistant, Volkido Tekido, is well-known at the docks and in Hawker's Alley, particularly for the odd items he purchases and has imported. Among the general populace, she's either viewed as a weird, lonely woman with a taste for expensive clothes and massive tips or an exceedingly dangerous mage with her head in the clouds (depending on which rumors you hear). She has positive relations with the craft guilds, particularly Naldiq and Vymelli's; she's known to bring them curious designs for them to fabricate, particularly involving strange and rare materials. Ishgard: Outside of the Athaeneum Astrologicum, where her Free Company is currently a guest to trade magical research, she's completely unknown. Some Ishgardian units outside of the city proper have reported a miqo'te on a blue chocobo swooping down from the skies and employing powerful fire magic to destroy those attacking them, but the reports are sporadic. Revenant's Toll: She's known as one of the many skilled adventurers here and a regular of Rowena's. She spent several moons helping to clear out dangerous local wildlife and studying the corrupted crystal formations. In general, here, she blends into the masses, so the average citizen's likely to say, "Who?" Idyllshire: She's known as an explorer of the ruins of Sharlayan, with a particular interest in the Gubal Library. She actively harries and assaults the Illuminati, going so far as to lay traps for them and generally make herself a nuisance. It seems as though she sees it as something of a game. Just as in Revenant's Toll, though, the average citizen is likely to respond with, "Who?" RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Kellach Woods - 10-03-2015 Strictly for Kell Gridania: Though not entirely unknown, as he's been seen walking around the city a few times. They view him as mostly yet another outsider, thus worthy of shunning. Doubly so because the conjurers do not trust him, even with the actual Hearers consulted being told there's nothing wrong with his acts in the Shroud so far. Those who have interacted with him will say that he's a good guide through the shroud for trade caravans, as he attempts to steer them away from situations where they'd have to kill something off limits. The Twin Snakes and the Wood Wailers are wary of him, but recognize that he's served a decent enough service to Gridania by seeking to guide other outsiders in avoiding the Elementals' ire. Limsa Lominsa: This is where he first appeared and where he first got his start. A former member in good standing of the Blacksmith, Marauder, Arcanist, Fishing and Culinarian guilds (not at the same time), he's been seen as a relatively happy-go-lucky fellow who's quite touched in the head. Many of the city's seedier elements steer a wide path due to lack of perceived value in face of a high risk - Especially after the feat of leading an expedition through Nymian ruins, living to tell the tale. A few will have seen his bouts of "genius" over copying the crafts of certain items effortlessly, as well as other shenanigans that involved him. He holds no standing within the Maelstrom, but has a few contacts in the Yellowjackets themselves, drinking buddies who inadvertantly press ganged him in joining the marauders' guild at first. Ul'dah: While he has no real love for the city, it's the city with the most trade, thus the most opportunities to make coin as a trade caravan escort. He has vandalized posters in the city before, and most there wonder why he keeps his mask on at all times. Throughout the traders, he is recognized as a fairly efficient caravan escort, though one of weak business sense. In short, they believe they're taking advantage of him, and they're quite happy about it. The Garruleous Gossiper claims that Kellach has performed many a grand feat using all sorts of skills learned from every Eorzean guild, but nobody likes that guy anyway. The Immortal Flames are too busy to care about a masked guy who looks like a gladiator. Few in Ul'dah would recognize him by sight. Much less if he has his mask off (even though he's probably the darkest midlander around). Ishgard: Outsider. Watched by the Inquisition. If he opens his mouth about the Elements, he'll be tried and executed as a heretic. Revenant's Toll: If anyone knows him there, it'd be the crazy man with the story about a Morbol that talked, the time he crossed the Coerthas Highlands in nothing but a subligar and some leather straps and the fool behind the worst dish in the history of Hydaelyn - the Morbol Salad. The Adventurers' guild likes him well enough as he, beyond a few hilarious anecdotes, does not shame the guild much. Rowena cares not for his antics. Idyllshire: Gobbiefriends bestfriends! While Kellach has visited Idyllshire only once, he has helped out the goblins and spoke to them before. He's regarded as a stand-up guy, one who seeks to further the ideals of Idyllshire as a place where all can live together in friendship and harmony. RE: Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire] - Mia Moui - 10-03-2015 I doubt that Mia is known much at all outside of Gridania and even then that's probably limited to the North Shroud. Gridania: North Shroud.  Mia is one of four survivors of the Red River Clan, an outlaw family consisting of some of the Moui, Bahjiri, and Kaatapoh families. The Red River Clan was mostly known for being involved in waste management but were actually producing and distributing substances like somnus and trafficking in poached meat, furs, and hides. While the Red River Clan were not known for poaching, it was this suspicion that led to an investigation by Wood Wailers.  A case of mistaken identity resulted in the death of a Wood Wailer and the arrest of an uncle to Mia. This notoriety was overwhelmed by the Calamity when the Red River Clan was apparently destroyed in the fallout.  That Mia Moui and three of her younger sisters showed up alive in the North Shroud years after the event was a shock to locals but was not news outside of the immediate area. Shortly after, when her sisters were abducted, presumably by bandits who assisted in the trafficking of Miqo'te women and girls, Mia Moui's determination to find them became known to many.  Finding Gridanian authorities to be antagonistic and less than helpful, Mia left for Ul'dah thinking that was the most likely destination for traffickers of all kinds Ul'dah:  Mia Moui is barely perceptible among the crowds of that city-state. She is just another Miqo'te, just another newcomer, just another adventurer, just another mouth needing to be fed.  However, a few of the residents in the Silver Bazaar had come to know Mia as a hard worker who dutifully helped maintain the docks, assisted in hunting game, and acted as an occasional guard against unwelcome visitors. Limsa Lominsa: Tracking a lead about her sisters to Limsa Lominsa, she pleaded with local authorities to turn over any information they had about the trafficking of Miqo'te women and girls.  She was told they didn't have such information but Mia did not believe them.  She got into a bar fight at the Drowning Wench and was arrested.  Mia was then escorted out of Limsa Lominsa and dropped off in Lower La Noscea.  She has since made her way back to Thanalan. Mia has not been able to visit any of the other nations or city-states. |
