Aethertide Ventures - AeolianMode - 01-08-2016

AV-RP is a multifaceted company offering protection, goods, and services to the far reaches of Eorzea. Off to the side, we're vigilantes. We haunt the shadows of every street, eradicating crime lords, voidsent, Garlean intruders, and dangerous individuals. This often puts AV-RP in the crossfire, but it’s considered a necessity by many of us. To these ends, Aethertide Venture Company is a neutral to good aligned company. People wishing Eorzea harm may not fit well here, aside those who are very careful in hiding it...


OOC


We are a heavy RP, creativity-focused community that encourages quality writing in all our members. Our Discord group and company forums are regularly updated. In Aethertide, you are highly encouraged to share your art, creative writing, or roleplay. We have no intention of controlling our stories, or our members, and intend to encourage all forms of storytelling. If you are creative, we’re interested in getting to know you! Please see our forums for more information, and to get to know our approach.

AV-RP has a wide range of content to offer, but we also include a few things that are rarely seen in other MMO-RP communities.


Seasonal Events. Seasonal events are two to three week long plot events that use a roll system. There may be combat, investigations, or branching paths that will develop a story depending on the actions of the characters involved.


Dynamic Social RP Events. Every week there will be a new RP scenario to participate in. From tavern talks, mini-plots, investigations, and combat, you never know what you’re going to get.

Art and Creative Writing Contests. The community hosts monthly creative writing contests that will reward members with currency. Read more below.

RP Currency System. To encourage community involvement and creativity, AV-RP has a system of its own currency within the LS which members can use to purchase in-character items attached to our events. These items can be specifically designed for their character and inspired by their story. This currency will be awarded to anyone who participates in an event, creates a drawing, writes a character journal, roleplays on the forum, or partakes in any creative, RP-based activity. If you like what you see, please read our rules and complete our application for the FC.

If your application is accepted, we will confer on to the best way to involve your character in the community. This will either involve an interview or a mini-event to introduce your character into the story.

We have successfully completed our first roleplay event which means that Aethertide Ventures with all its vigilantism (and, hey, some business too!) is now officially up and running.
Thank you to everyone who came out to roleplay with us as well as to those who have given us their support at this early stage.

 Something dark is brewing for the Aethertide.

 Eduard Harlow purchased some Magitek training robots, thinking they would be a good sparring partner for the company's Aegis branch, as well as a good opportunity for the Aethertide as a whole to practice teamwork strategies.

Unfortunately, what started as mere "training" ended up a fight for their lives as the robots went rogue. Going from simple "training" mode to "kill on sight" mode, the Ventures were quickly set on the defensive.

Though they fortunately suffered no casualties, a mystery remains. If sabotage was intentional, who wants Aethertide wiped off the map, and why? And does what remains of these savage robots hold a clue to who made them?

Aethertide's first seasonal event series has begun.

Just recently, we had our second Induction, during which was a new Aethertide record for attendance! About 20 individual characters showed up to speak, introduce themselves, and learn more about their branch!

Also, reached the conclusion of the Raw Deal Seasonal Part 2, as well as posted an announcement for Part 3!
Tons of awesome RP, active members, and more already! Can't wait to see what happens next, as we get closer to more member run events, promote more sub-officers, and conclude our first seasonal!

There's been a lot going on in Aethertide lately. Here's a bit of a refresher to those who might have missed the scoop!

Storylines
  1. We've completed Part Three of our Raw Deal seasonal plot. It turns out that the robots that Eduard acquired and Vi investigated were indeed part of a plot to destroy Aethertide. It seems a Garlean invasion force is responsible for these technological horrors.
  2. We've completed the miniplot, Cleansing the Void-Tainted Girl. The path was voted upon, and the girl's fate decided in an intense battle with potential for disaster! Thankfully, Aethertide succeeded, and her life was spared. There's a new future waiting for her now.
  3. Llinos is hosting Phoenixfaire, a festival, and its tomorrow at 9:00 PM EST. Come and relax, lift your spirits, and play games with your friends. Aethertide could use a rest after the intensity of recent events, and this is the perfect place to do so.
  4. Connor is hosting a personal plot on March 4 at 8 EST. He is bringing Aethertide together in hopes of putting an end to a mad quest for vengeance in one fueled by a dark power...


FC Growth
  1. We're taking suggestions and ideas to make our events more enjoyable. Please toss in your ideas. We're specifically looking for thoughts on accommodating our large group.
  2. We're preparing for the future of an FC house. Our goal is to have 100m in our company chest before patch 3.3 lands! Your donations are final and the money will NOT be touched until a house can be purchased with it.


General Announcements
  1. The currency system is still going on. If you're interested in it, check out this post, which contains both the information and available things you can purchase. It's a system that some of you are interested in but not others, and I am still considering its effectiveness in the FC. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for it, or if you're attached to the system at all.
  2. There's a writing contest every month, with a new theme each month. Our first contest ends in 3 days- the 29th! There's still time to participate.
  3. You are encouraged to write events for Aethertide. A guide was recently posted here.

It's about time for a bit of news!

Storylines
  1. Part One of our new seasonal series, The Jewel of Rhalgr, is over, and Part Two is coming up on the 25th at 8 EST. As a quick note, we tried a sign-ups system to see if it would help with our event size, but it went pretty badly. We're sorry about that, and we won't be trying it again in the future. We are, however, going to try to split up the group for Part Two, just to see how it goes and if it helps keep the RP and storytelling tight! We hope to see you there. 

  2. Member personal plots are always encouraged. We've completed personal plot events for Defiant Bride and Oyunchimeg, and there's one for Rosalin coming up on Sunday the 27th.

FC Growth
  1. We're preparing for the future of an FC house. Our goal is to have 100m in our company chest before patch 3.3 lands. Your donations are final and the money will NOT be touched until a house can be purchased with it. Toss in ideas here.

  2. You're making money for our future house by simply playing. Vi is converting our FC credits into stuff that sells. Check this thread and this spreadsheet for more information.

  1. There's about 10 days left to join the monthly prompt, which is an AU theme. Also, check out H'elah's writing prompts as well for more fun things to write. 

  2. There's more things in the works, such as new site artwork and Moogle Ball. Stay tuned...

Greetings Aethertide Venturers and friends,


Part three of our second seasonal “The Jewel of Rhalgr” will be April 1st at 8 EST. The day after on Saturday the 2nd we will be holding our first Bad Movie Night, also at 8 EST! It will be an OOC event for both FC and LS members where voice chat is highly encouraged.



Moogle Ball has been announced and we will be having a group uniform picture OOC and general OOC group picture before the personal plot on April 9th around 7 EST.


In addition, our inductions have been redone to be more ceremonial and interactive and to encourage branch selection.


We have reworked the website to make it prettier, however our custom banner (courtesy of Khyran!) is known to cause some issues in chrome because of a browser error. If you see a play icon over the image you can fix it by following these steps:
  • Navigate to: chrome://settings/content
  • Scroll down to “Plug-ins”
  • Select "Run all plug-in content"
We are also working on ideas for a date auction type event for some time in April to further our housing efforts and would appreciate your help with ideas, planning, and volunteering as a participant.

So far, we have raised around 26 million gil in the company chest and about 500k of that is gil from all of your gaming efforts!

Hello everyone!

With things progressing, andduring this little hiatus on drama and seasonal content, we've decided to go ahead and do some house cleaning!

We've known for a while thatthe branches have needed some work, so as the above image suggests, we've added a medical branch, already complete withsome of our well known (and loved) healers! If you've got the gentile touch, feel free to join Medica! You can do it either during an induction, or by meeting with an officer...

Second on the agenda, H'aku hasbeen promoted to Purveyor of Commerce! Congratulations, and thank you for all your dedication. You were one of our first members, and we're proud to have you as part of this community. 

Moving on! As those of you whohave been with us well know, we've developed and changed over time. With that change, we're considering changingour tag from AV-RP to TIDE, and would like opinions. The reasons aremany, but we don't want to 'sell' it before getting opinions. The tag MAY change regardless of overall sentiment, but we try never to bowl over our members. Please let us know how you feel in the thread!

Finally...

Moogle Ball is coming... Slowlybut surely. Tentatively, we will be testing the MB system with an OOC practice, this coming Thursday. Come in uniform (even despite the OOC), and help us make MB the greatest thing it can be!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Masked Date Auction as both bidders and auctionees! A special thank you to the Drunken Moogle for letting us use their house, Crescent Productions for plugging us on tumblr and helping us plan, the Open RP LS and the Netlink of Eorzean Taverns LS for their advertisements. Also to Jikam for advertising in party finder and shout for weeks on end!

Without everyone’s help, this wouldn’t have been possible and certainly wouldn’t have gotten as good of a turnout as it did!

Not sure if anyone got to you yet but as it says at the bottom of the original post the easiest way to contact our officers is to reach out to aeolian.mode, vi_lindon, and kosak70 on Skype or Khyran Oisin, Vi Lindon, and Eduard Harlow in game. They'll be glad to help you out.

We’ve experienced a great amount of growth lately and, because of it, we’re near our linkshell population cap! In order to maintain the same level of activity, we will be making some tweaks.


From this point forward, we will no longer be allowing members to apply for the linkshells only.  If someone leaves the free company, they must also leave the linkshells. New members must join both the free company and linkshells. We would much prefer to keep linkshell only membership open, but with the 128 person limit in linkshells, it just isn’t possible with our current growth and need to future-proof with the upcoming (hopeful) house. Members that previously applied to the linkshells only and have remained linkshell only will not be kicked if they remain active.


Alt characters will still be permitted, but we will now require them to be ICly involved in AV-RP if they are to be invited to the linkshell. Alts that are already in the linkshell, but aren’t involved IC will be grandfathered in.



In addition, we will be implementing inactivity kicks. If we do not hear from you via discord or enjin and you fall inactive for 90 days without a word, your character will be removed from the linkshells. If we run into more space issues, this may be moved to 60 days at some point. If you know you’ll be leaving the game for a time, just give us the heads up. The officers will be keeping a list of characters removed this way if they’re not FC members and inactive FC members will remain in the FC, so if you come back after a hiatus and find yourself out of the free company and linkshells and would like back in- please get in touch!
