EU Server RP? - Jactuar - 11-30-2016

Hello!

I'm a UK-based player returning to the game after having stopped playing in 2014. I was on Balmung back then, but this time a couple of friends are playing the game with me (for the first time) and we would rather play on an EU server for latency reasons. (I know it's not always too bad, but I'm keen to get them hooked on the game!)

They have no interest in roleplaying, but I haven't RP'd in over a year so I want to get back to it at some point! I want to figure out what the "best" EU RP server is.

I've looked around and it seems the most common EU servers that pop up are Phoenix and Moogle (which used to be the "unofficial" EU RP server if I remember rightly).

I know no experience is going to be as well populated as Balmung, but was curious if anyone could offer any insight as to what they think the best EU server is for roleplay?

Thanks, and I look forward to (hopefully) getting back into some RP! Big Grin

Hi! I'm not sure what is currently active right now, as these smaller communities seem to fizzle out and reappear over time, but here's a link to the linkshell hall where you can see a list of different RP groups on other servers.

It's been a long while since I tried to do RP on an EU server, my last attempt on Cerberus over a year ago. It was very small, barely ten people in the group and very different styles of RP. Some were quite casual, others were a little more eager by writing full bios etc. I wanted to RP on a more consistent basis, but I just simply wasn't getting enough, and even then the RP wasn't that... fulfilling. Just my personal experience and opinion of course, I really don't know the state of RP on other servers to comment on them now!

If you're looking for something casual and perhaps not so strict on lore, I would recommend a smaller server. If you're looking for something more immersive and plentiful, I would go back to Balmung, there's quite a big EU scene so there'd definitely be people to play with! Good luck!

Sticking with a couple of characters on both Phoenix and Moogle for now, will try and pop into Balmung with my old character at some point (creating a new character there seems impossible unless you've got money for transfers!Cactuar ).

Fair warning, this has been the case ever since HW released. At the odd server restart or maintenance, the bots will already have flocked char creation to lock it within mere seconds. I'd strongly suggest to go digging for that extra cash! Also, unlike other MMOs, you can transfer 8 characters at the same time. Provided they fit the requirements of 3 days old at least Smile
