I'm pretty damn lazy about updating my RPC wiki for this guy, so I decided to undertake an even more ridiculous project as a solution to this! Writing out what is essentially a Novella of my character's backstory, and I just finished 'chapter one,' if you would. The purpose of this project is to get people interested in RPing with this guy and helping explain some of his oddities...like how, after all he's been through, is he managing to keep himself together (he's not that depressing of a person to talk to). Also, a fun way to sort out his lies and truths that I have him mix IC and OOC.Â
I donno, overall, it seemed like a good idea even though it probably wasn't.Â
Some notes I pulled from the initial post from Tumblr, which I think are important...
Fair warning to this story as a whole is dark. While it may have a happy-ish ending, it’s by no means a happy tale. It’s the story of how Charce, The Crow, became who he is… I made a post in an ask alluding to a bit of what happened eight months before the first chapter. I’m hoping that writing these will get people interested in this weird guy and come to understand him a bit better. Another note, I had initially considered having him mostly unconscious from the age of 12 to 16–kept alive by some of Zaucuet’s aether…but I decided against it, even though it’d be easier to write a lot of his trauma as a 16 year old. I won’t focus too long on him being a child though…the point is kinda that his life went from happy to...not happy overnight…Â
I want to make it clear now that while this story is dark, none of his trauma is based on sexual abuse or extreme violence such as dismemberment and gore. It’s mostly psychological with minor violence, so there are NO NSFW TAGS on any of the posts that go on Tumblr and I wanted to reassure anyone reading from here that they're not clicking links that will take them to something potentially NSFW. Like, I can say with certainty, I've read things for my own job in publishing that are much darker than this...
All of the posts will be on Tumblr and I'll bump this thread accordingly. The posts are projected to be pretty long and I'm not sure how well they'd fit in a single forum reply.
When I'm done with him, maybe I'll do this for Shona if my life hasn't completely withered away by then.
