New Yoshi-P Interview in Gamescom - Falkner - 08-23-2013 Hi, folks! Got some additional news from Yoshi-san here; just want to share in case that some of you folks haven't heard about it before. Source: http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/117678-new-Yoshida-Interview-in-Gamescom Notable Information: * there will be daily quests in 2.1 forward. * chocobo race is planned in golden saucer. * for release, only 8man content will be available. * in release, duty finder is aimed for casual end game content. The 8man raids and especially Bahamut instance, you should not ( or you can not) use the duty finder. * you get 30 days free trail once you bought the game, afterward you have to pay and enjoy the full game. however In the future, we are planning a free trial version with limited access to the game. ----------- I'm a little concerned about the Yoshi's free trial plan though... I hope the game will not eventually drift into F2P system. ![]() RE: New Yoshi-P Interview in Gamescom - Aduu Avagnar - 08-23-2013 WoW has a trial, and is not F2P, WAR has a trial and is not F2P. free trial =/= becoming F2P its all to do with exposure. People like to try before they buy, hence the free trial. now, if the game is doing well, but not well enough to warrant staying as a Sub based game, then it will become F2P. I am slightly worried about how the dailies will be implemented, but still hopefull. RE: New Yoshi-P Interview in Gamescom - Fox - 08-23-2013 F2P has become the model for a lot of games these days. It makes the game, technically, more money than a sub-based game. Further, there are a number of really good F2P models out there, Rift has a very good one and it has considerably helped the game. SWTOR, while the model sucks- has helped the game as well. I have heard LOTRO has a good F2P as well which again has helped the game. So in the end we'll see. So as long as it does not become P2W I'd be fine with it. Either way I am excited for the game whether it stays subbed or does have a F2P model. It isn't a matter of a game doing well or not, it is rather more of what will make the company the most money. Great games that are doing well sub-based could technically do even better as a F2P model. It just is how the industry is shifting these days. Also free trials are good for games as well, gets a player hooked. ![]() RE: New Yoshi-P Interview in Gamescom - Kylin - 08-23-2013 Yoshi himself has made it crystal clear many many times now that the game will not be going FTP, as he sees going that route as a 'failure' of the game due to making a last resort for a money grab. He made a huuuuge wall of text post about it all on the beta forums that I wish was archived somewhere. But in that wall of text, he was very clear that FTP was off the table. RE: New Yoshi-P Interview in Gamescom - Falkner - 08-23-2013 Nako'li, Oh I'm worried about the dailies too. Aren't we already have leves for now? Hmm... Ms. Fox, LotRO's F2P is good indeed! But in my opinion is a little too close to Pay2Win scheme, especially for its PvP aspect of which you have the option to buy the majority of skills without needing to reach a certain PvP rank, but... who am I to judge, I'm not a good PvPer, not even close ![]() Kylin, glad to know that! Thanks for the info! ![]() RE: New Yoshi-P Interview in Gamescom - Fox - 08-23-2013 (08-23-2013, 07:55 AM)Falkner Wrote: Ms. Fox, LotRO's F2P is good indeed! But it is good to hear that their model is good. I'm not much of a pvper myself but I guess whatever works for the company. Not much a fan of the Play-to-Win type of games personally. As for Yoshi P. saying that it'll never go F2P... What I can say to that is, I guess we'll see. I hope that it doesn't go F2P if that is what he would rather do. But I am not holding my breath entirely either. ![]() RE: New Yoshi-P Interview in Gamescom - F'ibril Nuhn - 08-23-2013 And if it does well enough it may end up going halfsies like wow. Still pay a sub and add a cash shop for vanity things or xp boosts as well! RE: New Yoshi-P Interview in Gamescom - Jove - 08-23-2013 Well I guess Chocobo racing will do me until they implement my amazingly cool idea of Chocobo jousting ![]() (08-23-2013, 07:59 AM)Fibril Nuhn Wrote: And if it does well enough it may end up going halfsies like wow. I'm terribly weak against store's vanity things... forgive your weak-willed master, my dear wallet ![]() Jove, Jousting? That's not fair, Sir Logan, only lancers could participate then! ![]() Ms. Fox, I hope we could breed and cross breed Chocobo too just like in FFVII! Having a champion thoroughbred is a huge bragging rights too isn't it? ![]() RE: New Yoshi-P Interview in Gamescom - Ari Kagon - 08-23-2013 Yoshi-P has already expressed disinterest in going F2P. here I also agree with the P2W sentiment. I'm interested to see what they do with dailies. As long as they aren't grinds to unlock more dailies, I'll be cool with it. I somewhat understand the views on F2P, and how "if you never play it, you'll never pay it", but some F2P models are such a turn off *cough SWTOR*. I'd rather see companies thinking long term, and have a plan in place that warrants $14.99 a month. Most of the F2P craze seems to be daily fest, casual MMOs that lack good end game (except LOTRO). Produce a well thought out, long lasting game, and we'll be there with our $$$ RE: New Yoshi-P Interview in Gamescom - Jove - 08-23-2013 (08-23-2013, 08:07 AM)Falkner Wrote: Jove, Jousting?
