Pet Lore - erosskye - 09-20-2013

Ahoy my friends!  I am just going to ask a few lore questions to toss out there and see if anyone knows anything.  The subject I look to inquire is the lore of pets within Erozea.  Now I realize that there are your basic creatures (chocobos and unicorns) but my deepest thoughts are simply. . .  are there wolves within Erozea that can be "roleplayed" as pets?

There are no wolves that can be used as mounts or combat pets. The only creature that can be used as a combat companion is the chocobo. Other mounts include: Gobbues. Ahrimans. Unicorns. Reapers (Magitek armor).

With that said, there are a few times where you fight attack dogs used by the Empire, so there's at least one kind of canine that is definitely tameable in-lore.

I have been wanting a kitty minion for a long time now... but I dunno if there are wolf minions. I saw a donkey minion on balmung a bunxh of times.

Something to keep in mind about "wolves as pets" is..well..that they're never pets.

A "tamed" wolf is still a wild creature.  And a wild creature isn't a pet, even if we may think of them as one.  It can take thousands of years to truly domesticate an animal, and only then can they really be called a "pet."

But as an ally or some such?  Well, there's plenty of lore in other games about that (the bond between Hunter and Animal, or magical (i.e. "more intelligent") animals, etc).
