The Golden Death (Character Story) - Jaminos - 10-06-2013 ((I have been wanting to write this story for a while now and have not had a place to do so until now. If you like my story, please feel free to PM me and tell me so. Also please understand that I do not claim to be a great writer. So please bare with some of my issues I may have. This story is written in a quasi Manga/Anime style. So cliches and so on may appear. Given the universe, I found it appropriate to write in this particular style. Otherwise, I hope you guys enjoy my story!)) Chapter 1: A Realm Lost Fire swept the battlefield of Cartaneau as Magitek weapons continued to scorch the soil. Eorzea was at war. Garlemold had decided to end the stubborn resistance of its native defenders. Jaminos stood side by side with thousands of his fellow members of the Immortal Flames. A Garlean soldier swung his pike down towards Jaminos's head. Blocking it with his shield, he countered with a quick strike of his own. Using the pike as a guide in which he rolled his body around after the deflected blow, using his momentum to swing fast and hard. Killing the soldier nearly instantly. Another Garlean was already filling the spot of the one he had just slain The numbers were endless and Jaminos was rapidly losing allies. The next soldier to take his fallen comrades place was dispatched by ducking under a weak blow and stabbing upwards into his throat. His death was much slower but Jaminos failed to wait for his death before he continued to press on. A horn was blown signaling for the Flames to retreat. Captain Dengris shouted not far from his position but Jaminos could only barely hear him over the sound of battle. "Pull back to position six. The General has sounded the retreat of the fourth platoon!" Gazing at the nearly endless horde, Jaminos shook his head. "I will hold the line. If you fall back without a line formed they will slaughter us. My squad can buy you a little time!" He shouted back. The captain looked despairingly at the oncoming Garlean force before nodding. "Twelve protect you!" He shouted before ordering the retreat of most of his platoon. "Sergeant, we are with you!" A member of his squad said through a grim smile. Jaminos returned the smile before dispatching two more soldiers. His shield was riddled with dents and his sword, once of fine make was now growing dull and chipped in some places. A Magitek armor fired a beam of energy at him. Grimacing, he took a tiny bit of aether flowing around him, forming a nearly transparent barrier in front of him. Through clenched teeth hole muttered "Reflect" The blast stopped dead for a moment before turning around and hitting the Magitek armor with its own attack. His men shouted in victory, small as it was. "None can kill the Golden Death!" "Sergeant Talon is truly immortal!" "The Golden Death lives to carry on his legacy!" Among other shouts. His Golden hair was matched by a golden crown his men had given him in honor of his reputation for avoiding death. It was a sense of pride in his men. He would die before he let them be harmed. Channeling a much greater amount of Aether, his blade began to glow silver. Shouting as he sung his blade a huge blade of aether shot out, cleaving nearly a dozen men in front of him. "Tousen!" Another reason he had been dubbed the Golden death was his ability to manipulate the Aether around him into a weapon or a shield. The Garleans slowed their advance and Jaminos was about to press the advantage when he to stopped. The battle had just stopped as everyone gazed above. Dalamud was slowly descending. Right on top of him... Already, his squad had broken and were running. As impudent as it was. Jaminos only stared on at the descending lesser moon. To his surprise, cracks began to form around the moon. Instantly he was brought to a knee as a huge wave of aetheric energy escaped the moon. "No...it can't be.." was all he manage before Dalamud dissolved into the greatest and worst of all of the primals. Bahamut, the great wyrm. From his position, the Primal was only a few hundred feet directly above him. Bahamut let out a great roar that was so great. He felt it in three different ways. Sound, Aether and physically. His dread was complete as it looked as the Primal was staring directly at him with smoldering red eyes. Slowly at first, but with greater speed, energy began to form from its maw. His last memory was of a bright white light and the heat of the blast. The Golden Death had finally fallen...
