Hello! - Cecilia - 12-06-2013 I got the game half off back on Monday, but I haven't been able to play much until this weekend! I've always really enjoyed Final Fantasy games, MMORPG background My first MMORPG was FF11, but I never RPed on it. It was perhaps my favorite MMORPG I've ever played. I played WoW on Moon Guard for a few years, but I gave that up for SWTOR. I played that on Ebon Hawk for awhile, but then I stopped playing MMORPGs in general for about a year and a half. Until now! RP experience I started RPing on forums back in September 2004, so I've had a little over nine years of RP experience. I've RPed on chatrooms, forums, and MMORPGs. I've never RPed anything based on Final Fantasy before, and I have absolutely no knowledge of the FF14 lore so it's going to be a struggle to learn! Character ideas/info I actually made a Sea Wolf Roegadyn before this character, leveled her to about 15, and then realized, "ARGH! I screwed up how I wanted her to look!" Which stinks because I spent like two days figuring out how to play her! But I secretly didn't have any RP ideas for her anyways, so I think I was also looking for an excuse to make an Elezen. Unfortunately, my Elezen won't be the most social character out there! I haven't actually RPed her yet, but my goal is to make her a bit of a loner. She is going to be a lot like Fujin from FF8 in the sense that she won't say much, and will try to give terse, one word answers. The hope is that someone will care enough to break her out of her shell? Maybe? Haha! How did you learn about the coalition? I did a google search of "FF14 RP". What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? I like to classify myself as "medium"! I love story and continuity, and I try my best to stick to the lore of the game. Anything from real life you'€™re comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I'm going to college to major in applied mathematics with a secondary teaching certificate. I'm also an employed tutor at my college for freshman and sophomore level math courses. I'm very busy during the college semester, and sometimes I won't be able to play for weeks at a time! But, since the holiday break is upon me, I have the next month off! I enjoy puzzles, RPing, games, and grape jelly! I -really- like the color green! Yup, so that's all about me, um... Despite the long winded introduction, I'm actually kind of shy and introverted, so I need all the help meeting new people that I can get! :3 RE: Hello! - Hammer - 12-06-2013 Welcome, Cecilia! I roleplayed on Ebon Hawk too, but only for about the first 2-3 months after release. I'm also new here, and just started diving into FFXIV lore myself. Maybe we can compare notes. Although I am a little sad we didn't get another Roe, it looks like you've rolled up a cool Elezen. I hope your Fujin finds her Raijin! I've found loner characters to be more fun when they have a friend who constantly pushes them out of their comfort zone. By the way, did you see they just released FFVIII on Steam? Hope you enjoy your holiday break and get lots of playtime in! RE: Hello! - Cecilia - 12-06-2013 Well, my Roegadyn is still around, I just don't think she will be my main is all! Once I figure out a personality for her, I'll probably RP and play her on occasion. I didn't know FF8 was released for Steam, but I have FF7, FF8, and FF9 on the PSN for my PS3. I'm usually the Raijin in RPs, so being the loner will be a new and exciting challenge for me. RE: Hello! - Gharen - 12-06-2013 Playing the quiet loner when especially new to the game makes for a challenge, something I've found out while playing Gharen. I'd highly recommend checking the LS areas. Intermission is a good one to meet other Rp'ers, Balmung's Finest is great finding groups, ((WARNING:shameless LS promotion incoming!)) And if your character likes to get into an occasional scrap The Grindstone is filled with good folks and we 1-2 times a week set up RP tournaments. There are also plenty of others that fit all sorts of needs. =) RE: Hello! - Olofantur - 12-07-2013 Hello and welcome to the RPC Cecili! I'm going to start off with a bit of link spam, as a note, Gharen already mentioned them by name but i'll just touch on them a bit more. please feel free to ask any questions you might have, the RPC is by roleplayers, for roleplayers, you can see a wealth of information on the player made wiki hosting character profiles and much else! http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/misc.php?page=welcome That is a welcome post put together for the whole RPC, it covers some of the tools as well as giving you a little blurb about the site itself, where, who, when and all that. You've said your familiar to roleplay, and MMO doesn't vary too much from type to type, but if you have the chance, http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=1770 This hand book written by the illustrious Eva is still highly informative. well organized and comprehensive I don't think theres a better baseline out there. But maybe you just want to jump into the community, here are the links to the two linkshells Gharen mentioned, highly recommended for pretty much anyone! http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=1902 "Intermission" Is an OOC hub chat channel where you can meet lots of different people doing lots of different things. Want to know why everyones in Costa on sunday? heres a good place to ask! http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=5045 "Balmungs Finest" is dedicated to the PVE content of Eorzea, from Sastacha Seagrot to The Praetorium, if its group content there's a group waiting to do it! this initiative is all about building the community server side before branching out. A great way to get to know people is to see them under duress! If you'd like to read a bit about the Lore, The wiki has a few notes, but another great resource is: http://xivwiki.com/Main_Page (For lore and lots else!) Hmm with that out of the way, Nice to see an Elezen! even if you are wildwood! (there's some racial tension canonically in game between the two sub-sets so if you run into duskwights being a bit of a jerk, chances are its just an IC thing! they even have names for each other "Greens" and "Greys".) Mmmm Grape Jelly.. though i'm a sucker for jam on a general level.. Ah well, hope to see you in Eorzea! and never fear to ask a question or two! (I know I know, already said it, but seriously!) twelve knows theres some one who can provide an answer lurking around somewhere.. RE: Hello! - Wombat - 12-07-2013 Hello Cecelia! Welcome to Balmung and the RPC! If you see Kodaro and need help with something just ask, he pretty much can't turn you down. RE: Hello! - Cecilia - 12-07-2013 Thanks for all of the information everyone! I'll definitely try to get into contact with the leaders of those linkshells, so that way I can get in contact and socialize with everyone. I was wondering if it was alright if I could add anyone to my friends list? :3 RE: Hello! - Olofantur - 12-07-2013 (12-07-2013, 07:51 PM)Cecilia Wrote: Thanks for all of the information everyone! I recommend sending them a tell in game first just to check, some people who have been around for a while might be a bit full, or (at least in my case) I try not to overlap contacts (If some ones in my FC or linkshell, I usually don't friend them, unless we swap mail regularly) RE: Hello! - Lutra - 12-09-2013 Hello and welcome to Balmung! :D From what I've seen, it's a very friendly server. If you happen to see Rhesh'ir or any of my fellow AWers about, feel free to give a /wave or join us in RP RE: Hello! - Sahde Vhidgo - 12-09-2013 *friendly AWer pops in* Welcome to Balmung! We've some shared MMO experience, between WoW and SWToR, and it looks like we were tooling around Ebon Hawk around the same time. If you see Y'lyfriel Sikah in-game, feel free to strike up RP!
