Travel between the two servers? - Flowerbunch - 03-01-2014

I was wondering if travel between the two servers of Balmung and Gilgamesh could be possible in RP and how it might affect a player and those around him. But the idea is that you have a copy of the same character on both servers and when you alternate between the two you find yourself transported by some means between the servers. You may retain your memories, they may be fragmented. But your clothes and even physical body could change to a minor degree between worlds/dimensions/whateverz. What means do you think would allow a player to do this? Would they have control of it or would it be random? What side effects could occur? Comments and suggestions greatly appreciated my friends :3

Well, we do know interdimensional travel is possible from the various cross-over events, and that it can even be under one's control (assuming Shantotto is telling the truth in her event). However, that's transit between totally different worlds, not different versions of the same world. Nothing in the game suggests that there's different alternate versions of the XIV universe, but then nothing says there isn't, so... presumably, you could do it, but you'd need to be aware that not everyone will accept it and a fair number of characters will act ICly as if yours were crazy.

I don't see the need for such a contrived reasoning for justifying playing in two servers. Just pretend that both Gilgamesh and Balmung exist in the same universe. It is no different than roleplaying with two groups of people with different micro-canons and themes. You don't need any reason to pretend they are separate entities in the same universe.
