  1. I play a thaumaturge as my main and I'm interested in finding other magic users to collaborate with on a non-FC occasional basis on the Omega server. I'm interested in collaborating with such individuals in a sort of loose "coalition" or "club" of spellcasters coming together to discuss magic and perhaps learn and study together, should such meetings be fruitful and agreeable to all parties. My character Xihsa'li is currently situated in Kugane, but will be travelling back to Eorzea in one to two weeks' time. It is after he returns to Limsa Lominsa that I was looking to perhaps make some connections with other magic users. Who? I'm interested in all kinds of spellcasters! Does not matter if your character is an arcanist, thaumaturge, conjurer, or anything else as long as they would be interested in speaking with like-minded individuals. While your character doesn't have to be an expert in all things magical to take part (even novices are welcome), I expect a basic understanding OOC of how magic works in the FFXIV universe. I suggest lore articles found here, in case you're a little uncertain on how magic works. :) How? The first meeting would be sparked by an advert in the streets of Limsa Lominsa, announcing an "Aetherial Arts Appreciation" Club (or the 'AAA') meeting. This would be a club hosted and managed by my character Xihsa'li. When / How often? The actual place of RP will be decided if there's interest and when the time for it is set. How often? Well, that depends on the interest! I was thinking of doing a one-off meeting first, see how it goes, and perhaps another in a few weeks after that, but all of it depends on how much interest there is when the time comes. This is not something I wish to make into a huge event, but rather, a private setting for a few individuals. I understand people have loads of their own things to do with their Free Companies / real life / other priorities, as I do, so this RP would not take place everyday. How to contact me? You can respond to this topic, send me a private message on these forums OR contact me in-game on Xihsa'li Tayuun. Thank you for reading this far!

  3. I: Basic Info Characters: Xihsa'li Tayuun, A'yandih Jhida Primary character: Xihsa'li Tayuun Free Company: Path of the Rootless II: RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Primarily Heavy RP. Immmersion is important to me. Views on RP combat and injuries: I have a realistic take on combat and injuries. While usually I refrain from doing combat RP outside of the Free Company, the same rules apply to it and everyone else I might get into a scuffle with: Common sense and realism. I'll take a hit if it makes sense, and I expect you to do the same. Views on IC romance: I'll engage in it if it makes sense, but so far my characters have had high standards and as such, I do not engage in romantic roleplay often. More often than not, it is something occasionally sampled amongst trusted friends' characters. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I would love to roleplay more family-related things, but with my main character's background I doubt that'll ever happen. As for other ties... I'm actually interested in roleplaying with other magic users, perhaps in some sort of unofficial coalition of a variety of spellcasters, all coming together to study and research. I'd love if anyone interested in that would contact me! Views on lore: I take lore seriously and strive to be as lore-accurate as possible. If you spot me making a lore mistake or if there's something a little off with the way I word things IC or OOC in lore terms, please let me know! I've only played this game for a couple months, and while I do a lot of research on lore online, I still feel a little uncertain at times and am prone to accidental mistakes. When it comes to other people, I am fairly permissible when it comes to lore. I won't ignore or berate anyone who makes a mistake or has a concept I may even find outlandish - I'm not that kind of "lore nazi". Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I prefer using party chat or Linkshells when roleplaying out in the open world to avoid griefers. But in the end, I am not awfully bothered by them and would be open to /say and /em just as well. Whatever the people I'm roleplaying with prefer. III: Other Information Country: Finland Timezone: UTC+2 Contact info: Direct message me here, or Xihsa'li Tayuun in-game.
  4. Xihsa'li's crafting order basics The way I craft for Free Company members is generally like this: I'll never ask you for gil. Only mats. I can, and often will, give you pointers on where to get the materials cheap, or if the materials are more expensive than the finished product on the MB at the time. Since I buy materials in bulk, sometimes it happens that I have enough materials to provide some of the materials for what it is you want crafted. If these aren't horribly expensive and/or scarce, I generally won't ask you to provide them. If you bring me all mats, I'll make it if I'm able. I am only able to make the Carpenter 4.2 items, not the other crafting classes'. Where and when to ask you? When can I get my items? Ask me on discord on the #crafting_requests channel, or in-game. We can agree on the when and how once you give me a request and I check whether or not I have the materials on hand. If you bring me all mats, I will craft for you as soon as possible. Waiting times only apply when I have to check my retainers and the cost of items on the market board. Xihsa'li's Crafting Classes Subject to change as I level all my classes up daily... Will update here as often as I remember. Crafting Class Current Level Master Crafting (Max. 5. Here's a collection of good sources for all your lore needs! Adding more as I find them! Feel free to post your own as replies to this topic. mirkemenagerie update Lore index: A great source for everything! I pretty much use this site for most things. The person has done a lot of work gathering lore from a manner of different sources. Lore Finder A true gem, this web application allows you to search for words and references in in-game quest dialogue for any theme or word you set. Great for finding some of the more obscure lore you might not encounter unless you played every quest and read every description. The Raimdelle Codex Alces [Public] A book on naturalism, Eorzean style. Basically natural research, coded and arranged in lists of data and notes made from an IC perspective. Which means, much of the information is here is not necessarily lore-accurate. Take it all with a grain of salt, and not as 100% fact. It's more meant to be read as something you might find In Character in a library. Not all studies and theories in science are entirely accurate in real life either. Miqo'te Related Articles: Miqo'te Naming Conventions Pretty self-explanatory. Miqo'te names explained. Miqo'te Mating Strategies Before you judge a book by its' cover, the poster of this thread actually went into deep detail and debate over miqo'te culture in general, mirroring it to biological mechanisms in animals as well as humans. Half of it is about breeding, but the other half is about things everyone making a miqo'te should be thinking about: in what kind of tribe/clan or ancestry did their character come from and how does it affect them?
  6. From the album: Path of the Rootless Screenshots

First encounter with Dwassyith and Xihsa'li, when the dark-furred miqo'te rescued Xihsa'li from being torn apart by a roaming voidsent.
  7. 'Path of the Rootless' is a Heavy RP Free Company on Omega server, with crime, mercenary work and adventuring as the main focus. We often dwelve into dark, mature themes, with a penchant for the realistically gritty and anything that can pack an emotional punch. Cutthroats, stray souls, broken wanderers, fugitives and all manners of individuals mildy fitting (or not at all) society can be a part of Path of the Rootless, for it reunites outcasts and those who have nowhere to be. It is important to also point out that we are not a FC of isolationists. On the contrary, we from time to time advertise our current location to other Roleplayers (wherever we are, and wherever they are) to see if there is a chance to meet and RP. Being a low-profile group of law-breakers doesn't equal wanting to stay away from people. We do seek interaction with anyone willing to spend some time with us, be it for short-term or long-term plots. We appreciate everything. However, this happens seldomly. We are a heavily storyline-driven FC, rather than a casual-social FC. This means that while we have extremely strong social bonds between each other, we feel the paramount need to have a concrete storyline in our lives, something that drives our days, establishes our goals and leads us to places continuously. Please remember that: --> We by no means advertise or promote dark themes on an OOC point of view, we are all perfectly healthy-minded people and everything we write and roleplay is strictly fictional. Thus, we seek to gather adult and mature roleplayers who are comfortable with certain jarring topics. <-- Our RP focuses mostly in staying out of the main cities, even though they can represent a temporary stop where to rest, replenish our supplies and look for employment. This choice is due to our belief that Final Fantasy has a lot to offer in terms of enviroment, and often its potential is neglected or overlooked. Given how huge the world is and how wonderfully structured the landscapes are, we seek to make the best of it by threading beautiful stories across verdant lands, stormy seas and snowy mountains. Important: We have recently purchased a FC house, however, that is going to work as our main Headquarters. It's a good way to accomodate our members without "losing each other on the way" while travelling. After several months of experimental journeys, we have concluded that having a point of reference where to always go back to is a good policy to mantain a solid connection between social interactions. How do we RP? We RP both in-game and on Discord. Since we rarely linger in RP hubs, we organize ourselves to meet online at every chance we have, but we also RP a lot in our Discord channel. Sometimes being all online at once is difficult, so in order not to 'miss' on each other, we have text-RP channels on Discord where we can interact and have fun even without the obligation of being necessarily online. It allows everybody to keep up with the others and be always present and on the same page. We know that sometimes Real Life stands in the way of online activities, so our Discord RP channel make sure to never leave our members behind or cut outside the course of events. We also give an extremely high importance to the values of fairness and realism. As odd as it may be to speak of 'realism' in a game that is called Final Fantasy, such notion can be clarified by saying that we predilect what is sensical, likely, reasonable and based on common sense. Thus, nothing going close to powergaming, poweremoting and metagaming is practiced or tolerated. Also, we were thinking of working on a rolling system, but in the end we decided to handle IC combat and fights with a mix of common sense and the occasional /random in-game rolling. We like to keep it simple and to give space to free narrative and storytelling, without too many numbers in the way. What can you expect from us? A group of individuals that has been roleplaying for several years and that believes in a drama-free enviroment. We are all adults, we have gone through our happy and rough times, and now we just want to have fun. We are open-minded, we laugh, we joke, we do our best to accomodate each other and collaborate. It can be easily said that we are an extremely chill bunch with a very relaxed and friendly attitude. We do strive to RP everyday, either in-game or on Discord, and sometimes there are tiny hints of PvE amidst our activities. However, let it be clear that we are mostly and above all a Roleplay FC. That is the paramount purpose as of why this guild was created in the first place. Nevertheless, rest assured that you will find welcoming people in this FC who will do their damnest to make you feel integrated and part of the whole story. We give understading, kindness and reasonability but we also expect the same in return. A successful relationship is always a matter of team-work, after all! If you are considering joining us, however, we ask you to take your joining with a moderate amount of seriousness: since we give plenty of attention to newcomers, we are going to channel a lot of efforts in creating something that will make your introduction important and smooth. So, you are not left on your own to elbow your way into RP, but you actively discuss with the FC Leader about a possible fitting story that will tie you to the rest of us. Since there is much dedication on our side, and much effort done towards you, we ask you to be thoughtful of it and join us only if you're really sure of your commitment, to make our efforts and time towards you worth it. How to contact us? You can contact Dwassyith Swanra or Xihsa'li Tayuun in-game. Alternatively, you can also as well add Dwassyith Swanra on Discord privately: WhatAFreak#1278 Since we can be busy with work sometimes during the daily hours, you can simply leave a Private Message here to the writer of this thread and we will get back to you as soon as possible! In order to join, we believe a talk is in order to understand our needs, expectations and views of things. You may as well consider it some sort of OOC interview, but it has limited importance. The real test comes ICly, where we all get to see if there is the needed chemistry and the right reasons to stick together. OOC communication is important, but IC flows dictates.
  8. I definitely emote my keeper's tail and ears being signs of how they're feeling - their general mood. Being a keeper, I also often emote him seeing well in dim lighting conditions, and hearing well as well. He was born in a very secluded clan in the middle of nowhere, outside of civilization, but later travelled to Ul'dah and was civilized throughout his time there. Yet, sometimes his roots haunt him. However, I do not think about it from his species angle, as much as his background - a tight-knit clan of a few families, secluded, ignorant and set in their ways affects a person. His clan's culture definitely still affects him, but that'd be true for a hyur as well if they'd been raised in the same conditions. So in a way, I do try to bring out my character's miqo'te qualities, but I feel that the cultural differences that are present in my RP aren't just unique to miqo'te. I also refrain from imagining my character as some sort of feline, because in the end... they are people. With all their "wilder" tribalistic hunter-gatherer society quirks, they grew up communicating in social structures that aren't that different from humans in real life. Then again, joking about him behaving like a disgruntled cat is something I also occasionally have fun with. To each their own. I suppose I am somewhere in the middle of that "people with cat ears and tails" vs. "proud race of felines doing feline things" scale.
