I hadn't actually thought about this until I read the thread, then realised I basically don't play her anything like a cat at all. Rae loves fish (and despairs at the implication it brings (Cats love fish )) so she's aware of how "cat-like" people may expect her to be, but bar that I've never RPed her doing anything particularly catlike. Haven't RPed all that much though, so there's nothing stopping me from developing traits I think would work. More likely to be unintended reactions than rolling Rs and the like though. The miqo'te npc mentioned is one of the most amusing in the game, purely for the way she is. I think that being like that is fine, myself, so long as it's sustained as well as she does it TL;DR: IMO, They're cat-like. Play 'em as cat-like as you like. Just remember they're also human-like, and balance it

Going to the bathroom is also a part of life. Yet nobody roleplays that. Why? Because the specifics of going to the bathroom (or sex, for that matter) don't add anything to the story or your character. I have personally never found any reason to have explicit sex scenes because whatever they would tell about the story or characters is always better conveyed by other means. But not everyone shares my findings (or lack of them). As everyone and their grandma has said: if you are going to do something that has high chances of bothering people, you should keep it on a private channel. The privacy part I can agree with... Generally, in cities or crowded areas. I see no issue with it in more secluded zones, because the risk of getting "caught" could add something. Text-based descriptions of sex mean nothing if you don't understand it already as well. Books are in no way age restricted in the UK, nor as far as I know, anywhere else. As for the adds nothing to character I think you're wrong. Sex adds a lot to a story. Theres a pretty short sex scene in a series I read recently (The First Law books by Joe Abercrombie) and whilst it's quite horrible to read (Not badly written in any way, it's just uncomfortable to be there) (initially both characters are unsatisfied to say the least) it added so much to both characters, that it affected their interactions significantly for the rest of the series. With said scene swapped for a fade to black... I don't think the rest of the books being affected by it would have meant as much at all. In fact, they wouldn't really have made much sense. Used well I don't think there's any issue with it. The whole "cybering" sort of people that erp seems to get lumped in with are a different thing, and sadly it's hard to deal with. I guess all you can do is blacklist those you don't judge to be erping with any kind of "class" (Couldn't find a better word).

Never seen any myself, but I don't see anything at all wrong with it, assuming it's not in the middle of a city in open channels. and that's mainly because it's unrealistic, even for a game. Out in the countryside somewhere, go for it. Could be interesting to stumble across. Plus, sex is a part of life, why would you not RP it? I don't see the ick factor, but I don't really get bothered by all that much, only bored or interested. [edit] Plus, for my country, age of consent is 16, same as the games PEGI rating. The censoring idea isn't really applicable to me. (Though, I'd be interested to know if anatomy words are censored. First thing I did was nuke the filter, I hate them.)

Catgirls! That's simply it, for me. I love cute, and always go for good looking characters, as I have to like them, to play them. I tend to become attached to them too. (I'll not be switching race permanently at any time, Rae is Rae). Miqo'te fit perfectly, so that's what I made. I looked at all the other races and aside the Lalafell cuteness, nothing struck me as "me" to play. Everything else is after that. (on the occasions I play a male, they tend to be all muscles and kindness. I'm terribad in gender equality I know). RP wise though, Rae isn't particularly catgirly (Nya, growls, purrs, showing off as much skin as possible (usually...) etc.), she's just a random orphan with a solid goal and a flat dedication to get there (For now... If Thief/Dancer happens, well this is gonna go down the crapper faster than a 10 tonze bomb Thankfully I left an escape route for it) I do love to be unique, but if certain aspects happen to be common as mud, well so be it. I won't play something I don't love to look at just to be special. And to be honest, being 1 of a million means that you're more "ordinary" in the end. Miqo'te are taking over Eorzea like the Grey Squirrel took over England. I'm just one more damn grey squirrel, why look at me twice? ;P I'm surprised there aren't more purry, punny Miqo though. There's only one memorable (to my poor memory) one in-game too (A guard near the Fallgourd Float / Ixali "camp"). Man I hate writing things like this, my posts always seem bodged.

I tried really hard to avoid this when I made Rae, since I knew it would make her rather boring, I was fairly happy with the results My char tends towards blind trust, is a bit of a bully, places her reputation above a lot of things she shouldn't and constantly deals with pain from a part-cured facial injury.

I''ve yet to get involved in anything in-game yet, but I'd be willing to participate if you'll have a bit of a nub . It sounds like it would be fun, and a reasonable place to start, . I thought it was fairly well done, myself. I can see why people might think it's bad, but as others have said: It's clear a lot of Miqo'te don't care about other races social norms for sex / sexuality. Plus you do see plenty of them where they're not sexualised at all, like in the grand companies, the U tribe Y'sholta. Can't forget this lady either, she clearly isn't happy with her predicament: Some of it's certainly fan service, but the lore fits it quite well. Plus it lets us make Miqo who rebel this system, and have much support in doing so. Perhaps we'll change the way the world thinks, hmm? (Rae hasn't been set for this yet, dunno where she stands on the topic) I found it far weirder that there were very few cat puns, I mean I've only seen one NPC say something along the lines of "get it done right meow"

I got a 23 on that test, which is apparently middling dependent upon how I handle it. It was a useful link, especially with the descriptions of why things could be considered bad, so thank you I may re-adjust one or two things though, understanding a bit better how bad they can seem (Or pointless), so she should improve. I didn't run through it with my DnD character, but I think he'd score quite a bit lower, since he's not as good as he could be and fairly useless when it comes to a lot of things For my own thoughts, I do believe that some specialness is great, but without people who can play "normal" being special isn't at all. I've always understood the need to temper greatness with weakness.

This thread caught my eye as it's important to the way I intend to play. I'm glad to see my idea of generalising any major story plots seems to be a fairly accepted method, it's taken a lot of wonder out of my brain so I can think about other things for RP

I was thinking about this when I realised I'd forsaken my original plans for the sake of playing the game. My original plans were to become a Monk as a main thing and simply have a lot of learning but little experience in everything else gained over time. But avoiding the super hero moments I will be following the story, at least the Job/Class stories and failing (Failing the duty) would actually limit me for some time: IC consequences for what is technically an OOC failure. I ended up picking up Conjurer and far out-levelling my starting class (23 PGL) as a level 34 White Mage because I was getting really pissed at 2 hour waits for dungeons. I have an in character story sort of floating around, but this thread has helped solidify how to limit her in character power. Thanks for mentioning the Age problem too, I had completely overlooked that, and no matter what she won't be more than about 20 years old, she just doesn't look it.
