--MMORPG background
Played WoW when I was 11-14 and a friend got me to play FFXIV with them in Early August, but I didn't start properly playing the game til early December, to which I'm still playing with them and enjoying the game!
--RP experience
Light amounts of roleplay when I was 13 on WoW, then from 14-17 I roleplayed a good bit featuring pokemon gijinka using various chat programs, and now hitting FFXIV I've been involved in light to medium levels of roleplay with a small group of friends in game!
--Character ideas/info
Currently the two characters I play are two Miqo'te, Sylvia Valadis being my main, Holly Klima being the second. Sylvia was orphaned at an incredibly young age to a family running an orphanage in Ul'dah belonging to two Hyurs who were unable to bear children of their own. As she grew up, she regularly interacted with the various orphans as they came and went, some staying til they grew up into adults, a few of the fellow orphans she considers incredibly close and near family. She left home several months ago from Ul'dah north to begin training into the art of Conjuring in Gridania, having a minor ability in hearing the voice of the elements. Sylvia is childlike, naive, easily frustrated unless if she could see a clear personal gain to something, if given a question she often goes to Holly for advice on what she'd like her to do instead, she can show more mature moments if pushed enough to drop her normal child-like mentality but it takes certain moments of pressure on her for her to take things really seriously.
Holly Klima I've bit more ambiguous on a bit more, partially due to a question concerning who all came down from Sharlayan after the fall of Ala Mhigo and peace talks failing, like if only Louisoix and his Circle of Knowing group came down or if some other various members of the Sharlayan community came down as well, taking a more active role in history as well... But that aside, basically I've set Holly's personality up to be one who has an intense lust for knowledge of the world. Her parents (Sharlayan or not >.>; ) both came to Ul'dah to act as teachers for the incoming amount of refugees coming in from Ala Mhigo in an attempt to help assist their incoming refugees' have the proper steps to begin their new lives in Eorzea, such as basic intro to aetheric information/manipulation, reading and spelling, knowledge into Eorzean culture and history, et cetera. The classes they had open were open to all sorts of refugees and various age groups, but as they lacked the proper way to care for Holly in her youth, she grew up under constant exposure to knew information and quickly grew to love whatever her mind could grasp. While otherwise unsocial to most people, she did however open up in her youth to Sylvia, Holly finding her interesting with her cheery disposition and the easy methods she could do to get Sylvia to essentially do as she asked, though their friendship quickly grew to something more sincere on Holly's side as well. Once the calamity occurred and all that fun stuff happened, one particular incident resulted in the death of Holly's parents from some bandits her own life nearly threatened if it weren't for the passing by of some adventurers to spare her of her fate. Holly's life was in complete shambles at the age of 13, in a wreck due to the lose of her parents, luckily due to knowing the Valadis family, she was taken in, and due to her relationship with Sylvia, the two easily adapted to a sisterly relationship. As she ages, she spent a good bit of time maintaining the collection of her parents' books and other texts, continuing her own personal education, finding herself apt for Arcanism with a well understanding of arcane geometry. After seeing Sylvia off to her trip to Gridania, Holly went her own seperate ways to Limsa Lominsa to begin her training as an Arcanist in a more practical and useful way while also using the travel as opportunity to spread her knowledge. Personality wise, Holly loves learning about others and the world around her, she constantly carries at least one journal around to mark on her observations, she is incredibly manipulative, and have a strong sense in moralistic duty. She is willing to dig her fingers in and find as much information as she can to change events to fit her views, though she keeps away from "Ends justify the means" morality in the sense of far more ambiguous moral stuff such as directly harming someone.Â
I've also been toying around with ideas for an Xaela Au Ra, but I may ultimately scrap those depending on the exact nature of what the Au Ra are, ie weird offspring of some Voidsent and Hyur, draconic in nature, or who knows maybe some weird dragon/voidsent thing.Â
--How did you learn about the coalition?
Just stumbled upon it, I suppose! I also really enjoy discussion on lore and listening to others ideas on stuff occurring in the game!
--What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy?
Medium roleplayer is fun and generally what I prefer, though heavy roleplay is something I find enjoyable on occasion. I think anyways... I'd actually appreciate some specific differences between medium/heavy, as currently the only difference I can think of is detail and dedication levels towards playing the character(s), whatever further definition someone could provide I thank you in advance!
--Anything from real life you'€™re comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc)Â
I draw occasionally, also a fan of gaming kinda, I really like lots strategy games and FPS! Currently I work as a dental technician, fancy way of saying I make false teeth basically! Currently I'm in college to get an AA in psychology, to which I intend on further with an end game of becoming a therapist with a focus on adolescence and young adult age groups.
Sorry for the longish post everyone ; ; Nice to meet you all and you guys seem like some rad people!
