In a recent thread, allegations have been made about whether or not Sales of Housing plots were against ToS and if it was bannable and that the forums do not allow sale of art for gil "for possibly being frowned upon"
To address the latter issue, the Lead GM posted directly on the official forums to state that Sale of Art for gil is considered RMT. Art (and all that comes with it) are considered to have a real world value. Hence, trading art for gil is real money trading.
How is this different from sale of housing?
Very much so! As long as people are not buying gil, then the sale or transaction is -completely- done in-game using game values. Nothing of real world value is being used and hence not RMT.
I have not once heard of anyone being banned for advertising sales in-game or being banned because they sold anything. If that were the case, thee's been a lot more people being banned for that than there are gil -buyers-.
There are things to be considered...
My one suggestion to these housing sale threads is to make a condition that the terms are agreed upon once more in-game in chat. There may be an issue with selling land that is similar to part of the casino controversy. The main issue with casinos is if/when people did the raffles where a number is drawn -outside of game-. Those player-casinos are not allowed because it represents an issue in-game where some people may be scammed and hence GMs cannot properly investigate. However, if chat is also covered in-game there is no issue.
One thing to consider is that posting advertisement threads on the official forums are considered on a case by case basis, usually on the thread being deleted. I do not believe it is considered bannable but it is against the forum guidelines per moderator discretion.
