Shocking revelations have swept through Ul'dah that have brought the mighty House Felstar under the glass of a microscope. Elza Ashfen Felstar, daughter of house patriarch Cartius Felstar and chairwoman of the Sanctum charity based arm under the house, has been revealed as a Garlean terrorist known as the Black Queen. Evidence of this first surfaced with the Twin Adders in Gridania, credit to a mercenary group known as Crystalline.
News spread like wildfire when the revelation was made. According to the report filed with the Twin Adders, Elza had kidnapped a woman known as A'eyshn Demiir and held her hostage under the ruins of the old Mavanix Mansion in Ul'dah. Elza then framed a younger woman named Camille Everardi for the Black Queen's crimes, causing the lass to nearly be executed were it not for Crystalline's intervention.
The Black Queen has been known to plague the Black Shroud denizens for nearly four years now. Numerous terrorist attacks have taken place against Adder caravans and camps as the elusive Garlean wreaked unchecked havoc against her foes, sometimes in theatrical ways in order to leave a 'calling card' of sorts. The black garbed woman's identity always remained a mystery, due in part to the black mask and black wig she always wore on the scene.
In a brutal battle outside the Mavanix Mansion ruins with Crystalline during A'eyshn's rescue, Elza ended up fleeing the scene. Eye witnesses claim that they saw her board a private ship in Vesper Bay that same eve, and it is believed that she has fled to Garlemald. Sanctum, the charity based organization of which Elza founded, quickly dispersed following the events. One of the members was brought in for questioning by the Adders and found out to be a Garlean himself, leading authorities to believe that the entire organization was in actuality a hive of activity for Garleans all along. Another Garlean who fought with Elza at the Mavanix ruins has also been brought in for questioning by the Adders. It is believed that she had a plethora of other help, and rewards are being put out for the rest of Sanctum's members if brought in for questioning.
House Felstar has immediately come under intense scrutiny over these shocking revelations, though Cartius Felstar has made no public appearance since the events. Felstar spokesman, Boris Ahldmurl, had the following to say:
"Lord Cartius is deeply shocked and saddened by the recent discovery of his daughter's betrayal. He is beside himself in grief. It is unclear why her loyalty was to the Garleans and the Felstar family is in as much shock as anyone else. There were no signs of this horrendous betrayal, and the patriarch remains completely guilt ridden over not seeing the signs sooner. The House is devoted to assisting authorities piece together everything as much as possible, and will remain cooperative as answers are sought. After all, the family is also seeking answers to this tragic turn of events and coping with the loss of a once beloved family member. It should be stressed though that the house's loyalty has always been, and always will be, to the glorious city of opportunity known as Ul'dah, and to no other."
Boris went on to state that the shocking events will not hinder the house's activities, despite the fact that many eyes are upon it for the time being. Interestingly enough, all of this comes only a few short moons following Kylin Felstar's abrupt disappearance following a similar confrontation between himself and an unknown party. Deemed emotionally unstable at the time, Kylin was forced by the family to leave Ul'dah for a remote Felstar island where he was undergoing intense therapy. Despite claims that the house will continue on unaffected, it is crystal clear that some level of impact will be unavoidable with now two stinging losses to the family.
The Lantern will continue to investigate further in the name of our beloved and loyal readers, and as always, shall shine a lantern upon the darkness.
