Another, probably terribly organised, promo around the corner. So RPC...

So how many European countries will be ignored this time? How many US people will get banned this time around for abusing the Amazon store? Place your bets right now!

For context, many EU countries had promos which involved buying shitty dying magazines who were available nowhere. To add insult to injury, it had to be a specific one of them to get the Maid and Butler outfit, and you needed three issues in total, and take a picture of all three, send it to the magazine to receive the Fat Chocobo.

Some countries didn't and got really obsecure things to do as snatch food or drinks somewhere (?), while others could buy SE games in certain stores.

Others didn't get a promo at all. The Netherlands never got a promo despite one being promised.

It was a fucking mess on the EU side.

I'll be surprised if they do the pre-order again, it'll probably only be available on games already out.

Yeah I had several EU friends tell me how they were getting hosed on promos. Lets hope SE gets their shit together on this one and there is a easy way for the EU folks to participate.

[UK player] I didn't get my fat chocobo from the previous summer promo, because although I sent my picture with several working weekdays to spare, they didn't get back to me with a code until three full days after the redemption period ended. :I

I wonder if I'll have better luck with this one.

LIKE if they'd just been like "oh, sorry, your submission was made too late, our condolences" it would have been at least less irritating, but they still sent me the code! What the hell!! xD

yes I did still try to submit it even though I knew it wouldn't work

Anyway yeah I hope European folks don't get thrown under the bus again. I remember one of them needing like having to pay for a certain amount of time for a magazine subscription. Or something. Absolutely disgusting.

I tried to participate in the original UK promotion and purchased the first of the three magazines required. It didn't arrive with a code, so naturally I sent a gently worded e-mail to the company handling the campaign on Square Enix's behalf. I never got a response, so I tried another couple of times to the same effect.Â

I've been stubbornly doing my part to keep that thread active and the community representatives have been silent. A few early responses of blatant hand waving were made as well as a failed apology that...didn't really tell us why the promotions were cancelled or even if we'd be getting a better deal in the future.

So I'm reluctant to get my hopes up that things will be better this time around. I hope they are, of course, but European players have a track record of being treated badly where this sort of thing is concerned.

Same(ish) experience, net effect is no items.Â

It would not be so bad if they just added them to the store some time later. Though I am a strange one that wants to only have the stuff you can get in game.. but temptation dammit!

I was careless and entered the maid outfit code along with the butler one for my account. I will always regret that -- I have no female characters, and someone could have at LEAST gotten a maid outfit from me. Let's see how this next promo goes! Crossing my fingers for you EU folks.

Yeah, I did something similar and felt bad that I have this maid outfit I can't use. Would've loved to have given the code to someone else, had I been smart enough to realize that was something I could do.
