The new head of the Valeneaux held a small gathering of merchants and press in Ul'dah's Gold Court to make an announcement yesterday. After all were gathered, Zaralette Valeneaux addressed the assembled, holding a long yellow scarf.
"We are pleased to announce that our efforts to track down and capture the bandit known as Yssen Van have been successful. We Valeneaux now hold the brigand in our care, so as to ascertain whether or not the scheming blackguard has any trick or traps laid to further hinder our efforts to move our Operations to the city-state of Gridania as promised. What we learn, we shall share with you all. We shall do this openly, and honestly. This is our way. With this bandit in custody, we have no other obstacle that prevents the transfer of the lion's share of your merchant and charitable operations to their new home."
The young Duskwight then held up the scarf and tossed it dramatically into a brazier.
"Let this be an example of our resolve. Personally, as well as for the Valeneaux as a whole. We shall never look kindly on the selfish and destructive actions of bandits, brigands, pirates, or cut throats. Cross us and burn as surely as this scarf worn by the so called "Bandit King." Harm those in need, or want and you will see our resolve brought against you a hundred fold. We Valeneaux shall ever serve the people, and with our every resource help to repair and reconstruct what the Calamity took from us all. We wish to acknowledge the efforts of the agent who brought Yssen Van into our care and custody. This act could not have been achieved without the exceptional efforts of Deirdre Ta'ea. For her skill and daring in committing this service, she has earned our respect, our gratitude, and our friendship. Please, people of Eorzea, take time to properly thank her for her service to you in bringing this brigand to justice! We thank you all for attending, but must return to Little Ala Mhigo, to administer care and aid to the refugees and others that suffer there. We shall be answering no questions at this time, please direct your inquiries to us personally at a later date."
After a few cheers and applause from the assembled merchants, Lady Valeneaux left the Gold Court flanked by her bodyguards and a few Valeneaux servants.
