Hello everyone! New to the roleplay aspect of ARR and sort of familiar with the rest of the game. Looking to dive head first into the RP community and have some fun. Of course, that requires people to have fun with. So, let's see if we can find some of them.
First off, an introduction. I'm going to be playing Orega Kasai. He's an Au Ra. Now, I'm not terribly familiar with Au Ra lore, not having gotten to the new area yet, but I think I have the gist. Course, I'm willing to alter as needed to fit lore. Storywise, he's a Scholar. Very intellectual and contemplative. However, he's more than just a scholar. He's a merchant! In a land ravaged by war, healing is a powerful thing. He sells his healing, a selection of potions and his time. He'll heal the sick and hurt for a fee, as well as sell various cures and remedies. However, he can also be 'rented'. If a brave hero needs to go and mess with goblins in a foreboding cave, his services can be purchased to keep them safe. He enjoys the luxury that money provides, but he isn't heartless. He's been known to drop his fee for needy causes, though only some. He's running a business, after all.
ICly, he'd likely just be looking for a group that isn't morally despicable, one that'd be in need of a scholar's services and able to compensate him.
OOCly, the list is longer. I'm looking for a FC that, to put it bluntly, does things. There's nothing wrong with sitting around a campfire and talking, but when that's all we do, why have weapons at all? This is a world at war and not everything's happy and good. I'd like a FC that has events. Us getting out and flexing our battle muscles with some nice RP thown in. I'd like an FC that's more than just relationships and playing house.
Secondly, I'm looking for a FC with restraint. I understand this is final fantasy. I do. But we're not gods. I cannot stand overdramatics. You know the sorts. The players who are simply stronger than everyone else and know it. Who have killed the evil dark overlord who would crush other players with a glance. Yes, we're cool anime-sorts, but special-snowflaking just kills it for me. RP's best when we have limits. When we're not super-special souls with powers no one else could ever have. When failure's a possibility.
By the same token, I like believable backstories and personalities. You've seen the opposite. 'My evil father is trying to kill me, he's sending assassins after me, I'm traumatized and dark and brooding and special and I mournfully sing 'Let it go' when I'm alone.'
This is a really, really cool world. I'm trying to find people who are willing to have some fun (not always serious) with believable, but memorable stories. Let's have some fun.
