curiously if there is any  lore about what  would be involved in being one, are there offical  ones, unofficial ones?

I did not  find too much information other then the simple

Quote:
Menphina, keeper of the once-twin and now-lone moons and the goddess of love, commands the element of ice and is associated with the First Umbral Moon (second month). She is depicted as a maid carrying a round skillet. Her symbol is the full greater moon. Sister of Azeyma, and the divine lover of Oschon.

is there more some where or is it sort of one of those things that are not touched well in lore and  left largely open to interpretation

I've seen a wealth of roleplayers choosing to be Priestesses of Menphina. Menphina is the matron deity of the moon and all matters of the heart. She also plays a large role in astrology and fortune telling. So there's a wealth of people in Eorzea who would take her as their guardian deity. Though, as far as any "official" Menphina priesthood goes, there's not been one shown to exist that we know of. The closest to this I've seen would be from a passage in the food column of the Harbor Herald (The Good Salt by Dympna Tinstyll) which mentions "maiden servants of Menphina, goddess of love" but she is most likely referring to House Valentione in Ishgard.

There is quite a bit more lore on Menphina to be had though, so here's a link to my Menphina Lore Compilation. It should be helpful for your character! ^^

Thanks, I was planning on having my miqo'te be from a nomadic clan that is pretty isolated to make up for the fact I don't know too much lore. I then needed a reason for her to go to cities. I did NOT want "my clan was wiped out" has been done to death. So i thought a priestess official or other wise traveling would be a good reason.

Being keepee of the moon and wanting my character to be a bit lay back that goddess seemed a good choice.
