Retiring I can handle. He has been talking about it for years. Mononke-hime was actually supposed to be his last one, but he kept being lulled back (which I am eternally grateful for, giving that Spirited Away is, imo, one of the best films of all time)

After the contributions and dedication he has made to storytelling and to the arts, he deserves some time to rest and reflect at the end of his career, and I wish him all the best. He has had such a profound impact on my own approach to storytelling <3

I KNOW, RIGHT?

I was bracing myself to be crying in my sleep tonight, but then I breathed a sigh when I saw he was just retiring. No, I'm still very sad but I'm glad he's still healthy and with us. That is the day I am NOT looking forward to...

Great man for me my all time fav anime movie was and still is Howe's Moving Castle. I would pay 1000 dollars for an mmo based in that world.

A good FFXIV lore site: http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Eorzea
