Though Kali's face bore a warm smile, his eyes betrayed the fact that there was almost no understanding to the Miqo'te's words whatsoever...combined with a very obvious dissatisfaction with the response to the question.

Best of a bad situation, Kali. Spin it to the heights of excitement!

"...a very pragmatic answer!" ,he replied into his talkywand after the stupor had broken. "And it would appear that our new arrival is undergoing some very fascinating and unique business! I wonder what he hopes to divine as he looks heavensward!"

Good work. Now keep it up!

"Yes, friends, you'll be surprised at what one can find here in the many market stalls of Ul'dah's streets. Things you want, things you didn't know you wanted, and things that you didn't even consider were for sale. From fine jewelry and cloth to food to rare baby behemoth pets, there's bound to be something to tug at your pursestrings!"

He nodded in satisfaction that he had made the boring lad's answer far more fascinating. He trotted up once more, hoping that this person would provide a far more electric response.

"Pardon me, friend! Kali Kalrath, Lalafell on the Path. Care to tell my linkpearl listeners what you like most about Ul'dah?"

Coatleque was standing quietly at the market stall performing one of her typical under-cover inspections. The stall's owner merely rolled his eyes and stood with arms crossed as she slowly perused over the various vegetables on display. She was looking for a particular type of mushroom today which was illegal to import yet had started to become popular among the refugees. A hallucinogen which carried risk of aneurism if too great a quantity were ingested.

She paid no attention to the Lalafell talking to himself behind her until he was right up to her side waving some magic wand with a linkpearl precariously tied to the end of it towards her. Her concentration broken now she leaned up from the stall and half turned in his direction.
"A-apologies. Are you speaking to me?"

Looking around and seeing nobody else at this particular stall she made her own deduction.
"Oh... erm... What I like most about the city? I would say the myriad of interesting people I tend to meet on the streets. It seems I cannot go a day without running into someone who feels the need to divulge their life's history in one breath.

I would ask you the same question, sir, but I have the feeling you are not here looking for conversation."

Kali blinked rapidly a few times at the queer woman. She seemed like she was distracted by a variety of things...and perhaps on some clandestine business. But he wasn't about to devote too much energy into the matter. The less thought about these sorts of things the better, and the last thing he needed to convey over talkywand was how he might have interrupted some shadowy meeting.

"Uh...well, no I'm not per se...but I perhaps can speak with you at length later? When you're not so busy. I mean--not that you're busy. I mean busy on whatever your business may be. Which is none of mine. At all. Thanks for your time!"

Smooth.

Kali swiftly spun around on his heel and trotted off before he rambled on further, talking his way around the nervous babble session he was having. "Interesting people abound on these streets, to be sure! And many would suggest you keep your wits and person about you, which is fair advice...but this host would also invite you to let some of these fine citizens in to your experience, and perhaps be enriched!"

Or robbed, he heard his own cynical inner voice say.

Kali moved further along the path, headed near the lift to the airship platform. "I think we can perhaps find the time for one or two more responses--ah! Hello there! My name is Kali Kalrath, Lalafell on the Path! Can you tell my pearl-show listeners what you like most about Ul'dah?"

Pearl-show! GENIUS! Kali would have to write that one down...
