I think it'll be the same. Yes, she's the first Au Ra our character meets. That doesn't really mean she's the first person of her race to ever explore.

But lets be honest, the only reason that is happening is because they hadn't invented the new race yet. But we meet adventurers from all over the world during our play through though. I think there are already Au Ra's in Eorzea who've moved there for all sorts of reasons, they just must be a bit rare at the moment and we happen not to come across any. Hell, maybe we have seen a few walk by and never noticed because they've got cloaks that make the men look like elves and the female look like miqo'tes. I never examine the cloaked people I'm running by when I gotta talk to vender for something quick. It makes zero sense to me to assume she's the FIRST ONE in history stepping foot in Eorzea.

OOCLy lets be honest. Obviously, it would be a LOT of un-needed work for the programmers/designers of the game to make two whole intros depending on what race you choose. Personally, I'd much rather hope they put their efforts into adding in different content besides something most players won't be touching. Not many end-gamers would make a whole new character just to run through a different intro, if they did, it would just be to watch a cutscene or two and they'd probably then never touch the character again.

TLDR: I think it's safe to assume there are some Au Ras scattered about who are just quiet about it. Maybe once we pass this storyline we'll just assume the characters who are Au Ras and played through are one of those few.

Well... quest text always has tiny differences from character to character. They'll point out your name, race and gender, and in some cases give you extra flavour text if you were part of 1.0.

Maybe they'll just add slightly different flavour text if you're an Au Ra. Maybe most of their presence will feel like when you're the outsider in Gridania. Most people were pretty hostile toward you upon your arrival, but after proving yourself they slowly came around.

So maybe they'll go through the exact same story questline, but people will be shits to them more because of their race. The Coerthas questline in particular would be painful.

The change wouldn't be GIGANTIC, but think of what your character would have gone through versus any other race. Think of the fuel it would add to your RP- constantly being treated bitterly when you're doing the EXACT same things to help Eorzea as the other Adventurers.

The problem with this assumption is that Othard has been under complete Garlean rule for I think they say 50 years now? Any Au Ra that would have traveled to Eorzea would have been nearly a half century ago because it's very easy to believe Garlemald controls their borders and who can and can't like with incredible prejudice. Even then, before Garlemald conquered the entire east they would not have had much reason to leave their homeland unless it was by mass exodus like all the other races that came to Eorzea.

I'm pretty certain Yugiri is the first Au Ra to ever set foot on Eorzean shores, there aren't going to be any secret pockets of Au Ra that appear all the sudden, any Au Ra NPCs we meet will be as brand new to Eorzea as our characters are. That is my opinion anyways.

As for the quests taking place before Heavensward, I don't think there will be any change to the dialog, they won't acknowledge you as any new and strange race they have never seen before, you'll just be an adventurer like any other.

except that Garlemald used to be one of Ul'dah's biggest trading partners, and I doubt they would stop someone from leaving Doma on trade on behalf of the empire due to their race.

That was trade between Ul'dah and Garlemald though, like the proper Garlemald country, which is located pretty much right on the other side of Ala Mhigo. The fact that we are only just now starting to see a tiny bit of asian culture appear in the world, and even last years Heavensturn event where people had never heard of a horse before, shows that there has been almost no interaction between Eorzea and Othard in the past.

Never seen anything which indicates that it was the country, rather than the empire, that was involved with trade, and the fact that Kabuto and travelers from the East have been involved in all the Heavensturns events since 1.0, I would think that there was still people traveling too and from, again, I doubt the Empire would forbid someone traveling to Eorzea based solely on their race.

The people from the Heavensturn events are hardly a basis to use to assume that there are Au Ra that have secretly been living among us since 1.0. I just think people are hearing hooves and thinking its Zebras.
